When did Hall suddenly turn into a bad actor? I get that the show has gone into a much more campy direction but Hall has seemingly lost his ability to portray the threatening/menacing side of Dexter at all convincingly. The worst scene was when he was threatening Uma Thurman in her car in the previous season, just a completely laughable B movie schlock level performance.
>>224091477Paycheck is a paycheck.Sometimes they do it as a form of protest lol
>>224091488The show is doing pretty well, you'd think he'd be happy to be leading a big production. I don't really get the vibe that he's phoning it in, just that he's straight up bad in a lot of scenes.
>>224091477he's still the same dexter, you're probably only remembering pilot/season 1 dexter
dexter was always b movie schlock it's a serial where the protagonist is a serial killer
>>224091477He was never particularly threatening, he literally monologues to himself about his "dark passenger", that's anime villain tier shit. Also the theme of Resurrection is that he's an aging boomer past his prime.
>Hey Harrison I know I'm a super secret serial killer monster but would it be cool if I turned on GPS tracking so you and the phone jews will know where I am at all times?
>>224091477I wonder if they are going to have more AI special effects like in the beginning where they imagined he redecorated his home.I don't notice the acting being noticably better or worse. They should've picked someone hotter to be Harrison, they should've picked a Chad instead of that Alfred E. Neuman looking Timmy. Dexter struggling to relate to his Chad son would make for more fun and creative plotlines. But they'd never do that because the show is a boomer old man fantasy at this point, and it would make them feel bad/jealous.They should've made David Dastmalchian's Gemini killer be the one to come back, they killed him off too quickly. He was supposed to be top of FBI wanted list, a virtuoso of serial killing, then they killed him so quickly. It seems like they try to make the female detective Claudette le quirky autist, but it's not convincing, but it's inoffensive. I mean, they could do more/better with her character.
>>224092780>He was supposed to be top of FBI wanted list, a virtuoso of serial killing, then they killed him so quickly. It's so fucking stupid how Uma Thurman miraculously managed to track all those serial killers down on her own, including the elusive New York Ripper, while retarded cops are fumbling in the dark, especially that autistic pajeeta who spent half her life trying and failing to do the same.
it's probably because you were kid when you watched the original series. i rewatched the series recently and dexter was fairly goofy
>>224091477>suddenly
I can't bear to witness the twink death of Harrison.
When the showrunners are hacks and the director is a hack, you are not going to get good performances. Good directors direct actors. An actor doesn't just pull a good performance out of their ass and they don't usually give a good performance on their first take. It requires someone to really get the best out of the actor. You look at the first season of Dexter and the actor does an amazing job. He was really intimidating when dealing with killers and in his regular life he was acting like an awkward nerd who could sometimes fake being charming. The new showrunners have no idea what they want.I don't think I've seen Dexter be intimidating since season 4.
>>224091477>when he was threatening Uma Thurman in her carHe's not being himself there, he's putting on a performance of being a different guy he killed. He's kind of also mocking the persona of Ronald Schmidt who he cringed and rolled his eyes at. It gets a pass
>>224092846
>>224091477>>224092846>>224092907If he worked out and took hormones/steroids whatever I could see him transforming sort of like Chris Pratt.
>>224091477>I get that the show has gone into a much more campy directionthe show was campy from the very start. downright corny, even.
>>224093024In the first 4 seasons it was campy some of the time, and tried to be more of a serious drama and police procedural the rest of the time. It struck a different balance. Consider all the>look at how wholesome Laguerta isscenes
>>224093086>wholesome LaguertaShe gives the best blowjobs in Miami.
>>224091477how old is hall now? 60?
>>224093160Maybe, but he still looks 17... I've never seen such a young Dexter!
>>224093160Hall is 55, Dex in this season is "50-something" and maybe a little younger.A major theme of the season is he's having a midlife crisis and needs glasses now etc
>>224091477you are too much of a fag to include links in your post so here i am, saving your asshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BvDk0DPO_MI
>>224093625>midlife crisis at 50
>>224091477I assume when a show gets a revival a decade later the actors are just slumming it for a paycheck because they can't get anything elsedoubtful that Hall can't pull it off, it's just that he doesn't fucking care
>>224094121It tends to occur between 45 and 60, if he's closer to 55 then... yes? What's the issue
We need a "Dexter: What If" spin-off.
>>224092773>I'm going to google "did dexter morgan kill rapuntzel?">google says "no"
>>224092819It was generally goofy once people got used to the concept of people being on the table and him waking them up to let them know they are going to die and they can't do anything about it.But there were some horror moments like pilot episode Dexter, which was different to the show in general, but also when Doakes is trapped and forced to witness Dexter murder and not being able to do anything and telling Dexter to stay the fuck away.
>>224094581They are dragging everyone back to the show that is available and accepts, so it would be cool to see a 10 episode season but every episode is one "what if" scenario.
>>224092773That and bazillion other "mistakes" in show are made so that 80iq "geniuses" who see show and think>Literally mewould get caught It happens in other movies/show too they are just more subtle about it
>>224092773>>224094820The same episode has the five killer at least attempt to cover his tracks by going to crowded places and using burner phones and other methods which means that even if he can in theory be caught, it will be real hard to do.Meanwhile, Dexter deliberately enables MORE tracking on his PERSONAL phone and drives to another state with his PERSONAL vehicle. He just doesn't give a shit because he has already winked towards the audience saying "I know you don't want to see me killed or imprisoned".
>>224094876>"I know you don't want to see me killed or imprisoned".I really do. If the final season isn't a courtroom drama I'm gonna be upset.
>>224095051I read something last night that Res would be 3 seasons and Dexter already said he wants recognition and might get it in Res season 3 in full. I didn't check the sources but it might be coming. After that the government might just hire him as an employee who has license to kill or some advisor etc if he's too old to continue.
>>224094176>60Who the fuck is living to 120 years old? Midlife is 35-40.
>>224095165It's just a shame we're running out of characters to reveal the truth to. Quinn, who seems to already know, and Masuka? I think that's it.
>>224095209They have brought back basically every named character to visit except Masuka (I don't think he has been on screen or even on phone after season 8?), Lumen & Jonah from millenial characters, and Astor & Cody. They hold back mentioning the kids especially hard, like Harrison has not once asked if he has any sort of siblings. Jonah was theorized to be NYR because he swung the weapon in the same manner which was pretty cool theory. Lumen seems very likely to appear imo because she's pretty active in public for what I have heard.
>>224095262Forgot about the kids.
>>224091477he tried to move on from the role over a decade ago and then tried to end it again with new blood or whatever the first revival season was. He's probably lost most, if not all, passion for the character and now he's fully realizing his career will only ever be Dexter no matter what else he does and that realization in then impacts his performance
>>224095279Dexter has aspergers which means he's a monster so he immediately forgot about the kids.
>>224095209Quinn already knows Dexter murdered at least one person so it shouldn't come as a shock to him desu.If Quinn suddenly grows a moral backbone just to add in some dumb drama then I think I'll be done with the show for good.
>>224095321I heard a rumor Quinn, Dexter, and Uma Thurman work together for something.
>>224094176That you should be out of it by 40 lmfao retard.
>>224095305I haven't got a feeling that he resents the character but could be. But what we can see is the writing can be lazy as fuck and people are just happy to see Dexter on screen once again so I doubt he gives a fuck other than giving his best. Whatever the best might be that day.
>>224095341>people are just happy to see Dexter on screenSo why don't they have at least 100IQ plots or something interesting for the lore nerds or something in any way building upon already established stuff... all they're doing is killing and removing characters and Dexter just "is"...
>>224095321Quinn believed Dexter killed Liddy but he also saw him kill S8 big bad who just made Deb a vegetable so he might respect Dexter for that. I don't remember tho if anyone ever found out Dexter took Debra's body and dumped her to rest with criminal scum lol. She's officially just missing because the body would have never been found unless it washed to shore.
>>224091477He doesn't want to do Dexter anymore but he can't find consistent work otherwise. His work between Dexter and New Blood was literally C tier actor stuff. It's the curse of being the lead in a famous television show.Ask Matthew Fox or Jensen Ackles.
>>224092780>I wonder if they are going to have more AI special effects like in the beginning where they imagined he redecorated his home.are you retarded?
>>224095365We don't know what Res S2 has in store. I enjoyed the first episode because it didn't have boring moments. Some people might criticize everything is happening too quickly and I kind of dislike how every problem has to be solved immediately out of the way. The general flow is good and entertaining and it's not a serious show, but I still hate how they just don't give a shit about the surveillance aspect like mentioned in >>224094876They could basically show that CIA and NSA already watch over him and tell him they let him do his stuff if he doesn't cross certain lines. He just doesn't give a shit about anything. He deliberately enables excess tracking on his personal phone and talks on phone about murdering someone soon.
>>224095423Yeah of all the stuff to claim is AI lmfaoIt's like an hour or two to redecorate his apartment
>>224091477I don't know if you actually watched the first season but in that scene Dexter is acting as another serial killer, he isn't Dexter there
>>224092816that isnt unrealistic, most cops are dumb as fuck and she was on an unlimited budget with a highly motivated boss, serial killers arent masterminds either, with enough money you can find almost anyone
>>224092816Well in the case of the ripper the cops know who it is they just don't have any hard evidence. The quality of evidence for inviting someone to your mansion is much lower than trying them in court.
>>224095321it wont be about morality, Quinn will think Dexter killed Angel
>>224095736>Dexter did you kill Batista?>Yeah nah it was Prater. I only kill bad people and I dont' use guns.>Oh, okay. Nice to see you buddy. Not to mention it's just a boring rehash of the previous season with Angel. If they're going to use Quinn then they should be leaning into his corrupt cop persona.
>>224095709They didn't know NYR until after end of season 1. Uma found him much earlier.
>>224095865In s02e01 they said they had interrogated him 9 times previously. Are we meant to believe they've interrogated him 9 times in the 3 years between seasons and the only real evidence they have is Prater's trophy?
>>224095921>and the only real evidence they have is Prater's trophy?yeah? he doesn't do anything but sit at home
season 1 is the only good season of Dexter, the rest ranges from entertainment to entertainment schlock, to entertainment slopit's never boring though, that's the best thing about Dexter, no matter how shit it got, it's still fun to watch. It's a good guilty pleasure show
>>224095921Yes. According to what we have been presented in the show, they don't have shit on him. It might even turn out to be true that he's just a front man for whomever.
>>224096093I miss when it was more gritty desu. Modern Dexter is afraid to show gore let alone titties. Dexter used to be set in the underbelly of society with hookers and gangbangers being a large part of seasons 1-3.I thought moving to New York would give them the opportunity to reintroduce this stuff but it's exactly the opposite.
>>224096171Some of the original seasons definitely felt like some psyop project because it was just sex scene and death scene after another. Maybe it was just more new and exciting back then. There are still sex and death scenes but they just feel more sterile somehow. Might be the camera work. If you watch og S1 they do at lot of weird very close up shots, and the kills are sometimes prolonged even if it cuts away shortly.
I didn't care for the original soap opera but the newer franchise is pretty fun.
>>224095262Rita and the kids haven't existed since season 7. Trinity killed Dexter's unnamed wife estranging her missing kids.
>>224092755Gen X, zoomer trash.
>>224095921Yeah?I mean, I was looking hard for any clues as to whether a time jump had happened, and they baited us with Harrison and six months and academy graduate at first, but we later found out that it was three years.Maybe it was 34 months, or 37 months, I'm not nitpicking it.But the blatant confirmation of "Yes, around three years have passed since Prater's gala and death" was made clear.Maybe don't watch the show at 3X speed, zoomzoom?
>>224096819Why did they insist on saying three years have passed and Harrison is 21 years old and some other drops which just cause them problems lol. Anyway I'm interested to know what did Quinn do for three years after Batista died. I mean probably coke but.
>>224094581This was so dumb I laughed. He's not even wet when he gets in the car.
He plays the role perfectly and we all know it.
>>224097585He plays the role perfectly and it's everything.
>>224091477He's the least of the show's worries.
>>224097478wanted a full reset and for it to happen in 2026i thought they're going for this timeskip so that dexter can work at the nypd since the trailer shows him rolling up there
>>224097651I don't think he is going to work there. but just rolling up in there for to help
>>224097684in one frame he has the visitor badge but in this one it's very different
>>224095321I think what they're going for with Quinn is that he's known about Dexter for years but never cared until Batista disappeared. Eventually he'll realize Dexter didn't kill Batista and will probably help him with this season's big bad (The Five Boroughs Killer). Being forced to kill/almost kill yet another former ally would be tired.
>>224094805like in a cartoon, like when ben 10 had an episode where it was gwen who got the watch instead of benthat would be fun
>>224097716>>224097716I honestly think the new york ripper is a fake. And he is looking for the real one. I could be wrong
>>224097727yup. it's obviously not a dexter kill and he would never do it in the first place
>>224097731It's Framt 100%, he's Dexter when he's too old to kill and all he has are the trophies to reminisce on but he can't even get a kick out of it since he only killed bad guys. The Ripper is still talked about and popular unlike BHB so it's probably going to make him jealous
>>224091477Finally caught the episode last night with le wife, we were both very disappointed. Came off very Netflixy/Gen Z-script/constantly reminding the audience of shit. So many references it felt like. Like if you asked 2021-tier AI to write a Dexter episode for someone who casually watched the OG series. Hoping it turns around quick but fuck was that episode CLUNKY!!! Biggest examples were the weird "heh do you like my blood decoration" bit where Blessing actually responds(?) to it, then it snaps back to their real conversation, and then also the weird call 911 note on the door of the body shop, and Harry's remark about it. Just very, very, very sloppy and clunky. Almost like they pushed filiming way to close to the release date and had to fly through editing>>224095404>>224095305Absolutely not true, Hall is the one that keeps pushing for additional Dexter, he's cashing in on this shit until he no longer can. No kids, survived cancer, 100% the type to milk a cow until it dries up
>>224097832I dunno man. I feel like it's a fake name paid off by prater. Could be someone closer to him
>>224091477he never was that great
>>224097926>Biggest examples were the weird "heh do you like my blood decoration" bit where Blessing actually responds(?) to itAre you kidding me? Your biggest example is Dexter having a hallucination? Lmfao
>>224097965Yes, it was very clunky. Unironically a screen flash or something would have made it less awkward. Also I miss the cool intro and outro from last season
>>224098162>Also I miss the cool intro and outro from last seasonThere really are 8 billion people. How in the fuck did you like the spoiler intros
