>I think they have sympathy once you come through the other side and you’re talking about something in the past. Everybody loves a story of redemption. The redemption is: I was this guy who experienced this thing but I’ve endured and overcome it. You throw in a word like “endure,” and I can already hear British people going “(Expletive) you! What did you endure? Knickers being thrown at you.” Dude, I was mentally ill. I still am, but I’m in a good place. I couldn’t derive joy from anything because I was mentally ill. I won a sprinting race with two broken legs.

Robbie Williams is such a tool it's unreal
>>
>>224094570
it might have worked if he just played himself instead of a monkey.
>>
>>224094570
Who the fuck even is this guy? Who would be the American equivalent?
>>
right, I’m finally able to sit down and process this fully, so I need someone to explain to me clearly

why the monkey?
>>
>>224094570
>I won a sprinting race with two broken legs.
Sounds impressive. Why didn't he lead with that instead of being a depressed rockstar who had to "endure" women throwing their underwear on stage
>>
>>224094628
He's a better Justin Timberlake
>>224094634
To stand out from other music bio movies and a reflection of how he felt about himself.
>>
>>224094634
Test audiences could at least recognize the monkey.
>>
>>224094740
but wasn’t Robbie Williams literally the biggest star in North America at one point? that Wonderwall song was fucking everywhere
>>
>>224094548
A few good men

lol nice try, I'm not that dumb
>>
I think the premise of the movie is cool but they should have done it with someone famous.

>Who the fuck gave this movie a 110 million dollar budget
Robin Williams was a pretty bankable star so it prob wouldve done fine but after his suicide they were cooked
>'Fuck this gay earth, let's just throw a CGI monkey in there instead'
Ballsy move

a better man.
>>
Im starting to think the movie business is a big scam.
>>
I think the producers wanted to present him as a performing monkey and maybe he didnt get the joke.
>>
>>224095394
People joke but he was genuinely a world wide star everywhere except Amercia. Up until 2023 he held the record for most ticket sales sold in a single day, it was Taylor Swift that beat him.
>>
>>224094570
He was huge in Europe from the early to mid 2000s. I always find it weird how some of his most popular songs never made it to America/Canada, they love British pop music there.

I saw a TV segment in the late 2000s, there was some American female singer who got told how she had to perform with him, she got the name wrong and initially thought it was "Robin Williams" the actor/comedian. People really don't know him there.
Even though he had a cover song with Nicole Kidman:

It so tiresome hearing people who earn more in a year than the majority of people earn in a lifetime complaining about their struggles, that includes all the football negroes complaining about racism.
Fuck off if you don’t have to worry about how to make next months rent.
>>
>>224096920
People who say his music wasn’t played in the US are lying faggots or people who just listen to hip hop.. I wasn’t familiar with his name but when I looked up his most played songs I definitely had heard them played often in the US 15 or 20 years ago
>>
>>224096998
I get that North America in the early 2000s was more into Alternative-Rock, Nu-Metal, Rap and certain types of pop (Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, etc) but he had to have at least a few Billboard Top 10 hits.
His former group even made this catchy, well-known song:

>>224097468
That's literally what he was, he made all of those genres except metal

Ive read a gorilion threads about this movie, and I still dont get it why he is a monkey
>>
>>224094548
Why wouldn't they give a monster budget to the most famous man in the world?
>>
I didn't know who this guy was so I spent 30 minutes on youtube searching for his most popular songs and I couldn't recognize a single one. Is this guy really famous?
>>
>>224096998
never heard of Robbie Williams either. apparently he only ever charted 2 songs on the American charts, one at #53 and one at #72, both in 1999, lol

I want to fucking kick his ass.
>>
>>224094548
The producers misunderstood and thought they were making a ROBIN Williams biopic because none of them had ever heard of Robbie.
>>
>>224094605
Nah. The monkey is the only saving grace of this movie. Had it just been him we wouldn't even have those threads because everyone would forget about it before it even started screening.
Not to mention dude isn't remotely as popular as he thinks he is. People who liked him would have went anyways but everyone else only saw this because they were curious about the monkey.
>>
why do brits insist that this monkey man is real?
>>
>Robbie Wlliams
Isn't it Robin Williams.
