Is this the most faithful Bond adaptation? Are the books actually worth reading?
I tried to watch this a few weeks ago as highly recommended as the best Bond movie. omgf was so awful I couldn't finish it even across multiple days' viewing.

They're not great books, just typical spy fiction yarns with a bit of crazy shit, as was the style of the times.None of them were meant to have any realistic characterization. They're pulp novels.The movies managed to crystalize the ideas into basically an ad for affluent (or affluent-to-be) people in regards to travel to exotic locations and so on. Also they showcase hobbies of the cosmopolitan class like skiing, skydiving, diving etc... it captured the nascent cosmopolitan culture of the western world that emerged after ww2.
