This movie does almost everything wrong if it wants to adapt the feel of the games. It's a straight line (linear), it has no puzzles, it has fast moving enemies, which means it can't really depict ammo conservation in the way that the games do it, you don't really find out much of anything about the locations (in the games, every location has a story) or the plot, there's only one major character and no real villain behind it all. And ultimately the games are hopeful. Even the worst ending has you beating the "final boss" and ending the outbreak.
