You did, I'm afraid. Words and webms can't describe what it was like. Yeah it was slow as fuck to download a gif, but the entire culture was completely different. Basically the entire internet was white 130 IQ suburban/college kids, and a few japanese people who wanted to be your pen pals. You'd plug in the modem so you could spend all night playing Doom with your best friend.
