Why hasn't anyone made a big effort big budget series about the fall of the Aztec Empire? The story is kino af.
>>
>>224106709
Brown people GOOD.

White people (which currently includes the Spanish) BAD.
>>
Was gonna post apocalypto, but ig that was the mayans
>>
Personally I’d rather see a movie about the Olmecs.
>>
>>224106724
Why not make it from the POV of the Aztecs and frame it as a tragedy. It wouldn't even be controversial to portray cortez as a villain. Just omit the human sacrifices and you are golden
>>
>>224106762
What stories do the olmecs have that could be made into tv or film?
>>
Not enough interest, no money to be maade. if big effort big budget series about rome lasted barely 2 seasons before redeemed not worth the time and money. Aztec stuff wouldn't stand a chance.
>>
>>224106709
Because the potential audience would be divided into 2 main groups:
>morons who know or care nothing about the Aztec history
>people who know or care about it
Of those in the latter category, you'd inevitably have:
>wokes and Mexicans who would whine and cry about Aztecs being portrayed badly and/or Spaniards positively
>anti-wokes whining about the opposite
So, it raises the question: who the FUCK would the movie be FOR?
>>
>>224106760
No difference

High fantasy stuff but in a jungle. Apparently Olmecs also had some knowledge of magnetism. Their statues had been polarized and magnetized and they found a massive stash of magnetite cubes in one of their compounds. Some theorize them to be used to carry giant statues around. Doesn’t have to be a realistic movie, it could be like Gods of Egypt or Wrath of the Titans.
>>
>>224106709
>big effort big budget series about the fall of the Aztec Empire?
It would be boring.
Just 30 conquistadors lining thousands of aztecs up as they eat bullets like retards.
>>
>>224106860
I don't think they had bullets back then
>>
>>224106895
It was the 16th century so yeah, they did. Europeans had guns since the 14th century.
>>
>>224106709
Hollywood opposes it contrary to popular belief, they don't want to piss off their white audience and diverse audience at the same time. If it is from the native's perspective, they will include a white protag in it.
>>
>>224106709
It’s already done.

Historical shows can't survive modern writing or producers without being butchered to the point of it being leftist historical revisionism, which is box office and ratings poison unless it's literal state funded propaganda. See anything made by the bbc, usaid money, or the EU.

>>
>>224107879
They don't want to learn, they want black vs white revisionism. The Aztec were dicks surrounded by other cultures that wanted them dead, but they also weren't completely backwards "savages". They quickly adapted their tactics to fight the Spaniards more effectively but the combination of superior tech, horses, disease, and local uprising backed by the Spanish meant they ultimately never had a chance.
>>
>>224108042
Its such a cool story i like how Cortez burned all his ships to prevent retreat and then quickly hustled together a dozen or so sloops when he saw Lake Texcoco and is suddenly flinging diseased horses over the wall on them
>>

For me. I care and know about pre-columbian america, and frankly even a retarded action flick like apocalypto is welcome if the portrayals are entertaining enough. Also the human sacrifices are only polemic to normoid pussies who have no idea how proliferant that practice has been worldwide.

one of us is gonna have to do it ourselves, based and realist historybro.
>>

That's not even true. Mel Gibson just strung up some cameras in the trees around an Albuquerque mall. That's all found footage.
>>
>>224108091
The issue with a no contact scenario is that the new world had no reliable pack animals and while it was good at working with softer metals like gold and silver they never developed the industrial capacity to work iron so their technology had stagnated. Another big factor is building and maintaining anything in a jungle is extremely difficult, so drought and famine will drive most of the population back into the jungle to live in small tribes that are much more resilient but aren't condusive to cultural or technological advancement. Look at the Aboriginal people of Australia for example, they became the apex species of Australia fairly quickly and were even doing simple farming but were so isolated from the rest of the world they never had the need to develop past the stone age.
TLDR "new world" humans were just as smart was Europeans but they developed in extremely isolated conditions both culturally and technologicaly.

"Hernan" was very good. you americans really need to start looking at stuff made outside of your bubble.
>>
>>224106760
apocalypto is fun and has great looking sets, but is completely ahistorical and basically a fantasy movie.
>>
>>224106709
Same reason there isnt a movie about Brits colonizing india. Dont want to show white people making a place better. Though in defence of the native south americans, they had built huge clean cities, aqueducts, a sun dial, calendars, etc. Much more advanced than your typical brownoids.

Where was this superior tech when the Spanish horses were all drowned and all their powder was wet, and a small army of them still cut through a huge Aztec army?
I keep telling you people this. It wasn't the tech. It sure as HELL wasn't the 'native allies' who were all but useless. It was the Spanish. That's it. He's much closer to the truth than you are.

That grace period didn't last as long as you think it did. The shock of gunpowder weapons wore off fairly quickly once they figured out how they worked, horses were arguably a bigger factor and much harder to counter if your culture has had 0 exposure to them. That and all the neighbors that you've been subjugating also seize the opportunity to boogaloo.

1. Mexico borrowed from everyone and failed to pay
2. Juarez (president) and told the Europs "fuck you pendejos, come and get it"
3. Napoleon III sent a fleet to come and get it
4. Battle of Puebla or some shit, total BEANER VICTORY (well, until the troops found another way in)
5. Frogs loot everything, because Frogs
6. There's a spare Habsburg prince since Austria got fucked in Europe, why not give him MX as a consolation prize
7. Old government flees north, under Juarez
8. Juarez' own legal term runs out, he claims it doesn't count
9. Juarez defeats the supporters of the (dead) constituion
10. Juarez, who is now military commander, moves back south
11. Meanwhile not just the Frogs but also the Pope decides to rugpull Maximilian
12. Empress Carlota goes on a European tour begging for help
13. no help is given for dear "Maxl" so Carlota goes nuts and gets locked away
14. Juarez kills Maxl
15. Mexico lives happily ever after
>>

They were backwards in some ways and shockingly advanced in some ways that are hard to really wrap your head around. They had a giant floating city with 200k people, public education, government funded street cleaners, running water in many houses, advanced doctors and dentists partially supported by the government, neighborhood level politicians that peasants could talk to about their problems, and a ZOO AND AQUARIUM, all supported by floating farms that were more calorie productive per acre than modern industrial farming. Even the conquistadors said it was the most spectacular city on the planet without a doubt. They had miles and miles of sophisticated aqueducts, and one of the largest dikes on the planet, organized and sophisticated armies of tens or hundreds of thousands fighting in formations and pulling off complex maneuvers, long distance trade reaching from the American great lakes to south America on seas that were a nightmare even for Spanish ships, sophisticated medicine and mathematics...Then on the other hand they refused to adopt metal tools or wheels on a large scale despite archeological evidence showing that they were discovered and spread throughout Mesoamerica ages before European contact, and many places insisted on using stupidly overcomplicated pictographic glyphs long after Mayans invented a proper alphabet. Just odd, like someone making a bee line down a few tech trees in a civilization game and ignoring other basic ones, but irl. Mexico and Guatemala have a similar density of ruins to places like Greece and Italy, it's just that no one really cares about them and they're destroyed constantly. As recently as 2024 they found a lost Mayan city in the Yucatan as large as San Francisco. 15 minute walk from a town and major highway, just sitting there, buried by jungle.

This is a myth, hell even Moctezuma II had a beard. It was just that the near universal standard for Mesoamericans was to shave all their facial hair, and since they were a cleanliness obsessed people who bathed constantly I'd assume they shaved near constantly as well.
Also the Olmecs were not south American.

I want one about the first voyage across the entire Amazon. Francisco Orellana saw dozens of coastal settlements and at least one large city with paved roads.
The next voyage through the Amazon wasn't for another 100+ years. They reported seeing nothing near to the previous voyage. Almost everyone who came into contact with Orellana's men likely died of smallpox within a year.

I don't know, but if we're talking about under explored, significant historical events that would make for a great series or movie, then I would suggest the battle of Tours, where Charles "The Hammer" Martel, a name that every western child should recognize, saved Europe from the invading moslem horde. The whole Reconquista is loaded with potential kino. Unfortunately, it will probably never be given the attention that it deserves, for obvious reasons. Even if it were, it'd probably be through a woke, revisionist lens.

I don't know. It wouldn't surprise me. I'd like to imagine hot Aztec babes had big juicy bushes though. I strongly believe that pre Columbian natives were much hotter than modern ones, and the ugliness of modern natives is a result of artificial selection, over hundreds of years the hottest ones were snatched up by rapey settlers and had much of their native blood bred out of them. Latinas are fun but they could have been much more exotic.
>inb4 ugly people in uncontacted tribes
Those are all from South America, most of the civilized Mesoamerican peoples were too urbanized to hide away effectively.

This. Not only would it be REALLY expensive to do it all justice, it would piss people off one way or another. Also, historical epics aren't really in vogue right now so I don't see it happening anytime soon no matter what.

The Spanish were almost entirely wiped out when retreating from the Aztec capital when things got spicy. Cortes survived by the skin of his teeth. Funny how history had a coin flip's change of being completely different.

Yeah, pop history likes to pretend that the Spaniards were unstoppable supermen mowing down cavemen left and right but in reality even with hundreds of thousands of native allies and a nightmare giga plague that conveniently affected their enemies far more than their allies they still lost over half of their men and were nearly defeated.
Cortez' expedition was actually completely illegal and the Spanish crown made multiple attempts to stop it, but their soldiers kept defecting to join him in looting and pillaging. The only pardoned him in the end because of how bad it would make them look if the world noticed how powerless they were to prevent their soldiers from defecting and committing atrocities on the other side of the globe. If the Cortez expedition failed, it's most likely that the Spanish crown would have apologized profusely and tried to establish diplomatic and economic ties with the Aztecs and other Mexican states. They'd still try to conquer them, especially since they would be ravaged by smallpox either way at that point, but they probably would have done it more covertly and over a longer period of time, focusing on slowly accumulating political influence and spreading their religion to culturally dominate them and usurp the existing power structures rather than outright invading and taking everything by force. Which also, I believe, would mean more native culture, art, and architecture would have been preserved. As much as I'd like to see native American states surviving to the present day I think that would have been the most realistic best case scenario.

Cool but WAAAAAY too small. That's the size of like a minor provincial Mexican city, its well attested by both archeology and eyewitness accounts that tenochtitlan was one of the largest cities on earth. Also it depicts the surrounding area as jungle for some reason when it was semi arid plains. This guy's work is still the best reconstruction imo, and he lists his sources as well.

if you want to understand why true Conqistakino has never happened and will never happen anytime in the near future you need only look at the time period of when it happened.
This is the true underlying reason even beyond the anti-White agenda of the Left.
Because Leftists themselves don't even fully understand why they hate Whites.

In letter to the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, Cortés wrote:

"We had more trouble in preventing our allies from killing with such cruelty than we had in fighting the enemy. For no race, however savage, has ever practiced such fierce and unnatural cruelty as the natives of these parts. Our allies also took many spoils that day, which we were unable to prevent, as they numbered more than 150,000 and we Spaniards only some nine hundred. Neither our precautions nor our warnings could stop their looting, though we did all we could..."

Natives were the real enemies all along

NTA but it also seems to have had no cultural impact at all. It hit, flashed in the pan, and that's pretty much it, everybody forgot about it a month or two later. Because while all this was going on those same Spaniards were being totally mogged by Drake.

You can't really portray your protagonists as strong when they get their entire navel fleet's collective arse completely handed to them every single time by an English man in one tiny boat. Drake was so cocky he even lit broken down old boats, usually ones that he had captured from the Spanish themselves to rub salt in the wound, and sent them back into the Spanish fleet destroying even more.

The Spanish would be a laughing stock on their own TV show, which makes the Aztecs just look even more pathetic in comparison. Seeing as, if the American media is to be belived, Latrinos make up the majority of the Yankee-doodle-dandy population that's not going to play well with getting funding from the only country that would fund a high effort big budget series about the fall of the Aztec Empire.

Good post. Alternate history America where the Aztecs weren’t wiped out would be interesting. I bet this would’ve pushed the First Nations to officially confederate. America’s constitution was actually heavily influenced by existing laws between First Nations so I’d think a Constitution would still happen. But the founding fathers would all be First Nations. You’d have Mohawk, Cree, Dene, Navajo, Cherokee, Sioux, Blackfoot, Choctaw, Apache, Iroquois, Algonquin, Kootenay, Onondoga, Assiniboine, Inuit.

I wonder if the French integrationists (that would’ve led to the Métis) would’ve been successful. Perhaps Quebec/Montreal might still exist but smaller, and the English colonists’ war with the Indians would’ve gone on for longer and would’ve had a tougher time. Maybe they’d only have the east coast up to Newfoundland and down to New York/Maine.

Africa would’ve been less ravaged by slavery since the importation of Africans to American crop farms would not have been as prevalent, so perhaps it would’ve grown more economically powerful, maybe even had a war with Europe which could’ve lead to more Asian/Russian influence and incursions. Perhaps Eurasia as a political entity would’ve actually become a thing.

The Spaniels couldn't kill him despite their best efforts he just laughed them off, in the end it was only the flux that could end Drake.

He was buried in line with his wishes, in a lead lined coffin made of "liberated" Spanish gold and placed at the bottom of the Caribbean Sea. The coffin is thought to be complete with a gold death ethergy similar to that of Queen Elizabeth the first's tomb in Westminster Abbey or King Tut's.

It is highly likely he faked his death though as the coffin has never been recovered and the Royal Navy mysteriously banned Giles Brandreth from recovering it. He may indeed be alive to this day, like King Arthur, waiting for a time when Britain truly needs him once again.

The accounts I've read say yes, they shaved their cunts. The problem is that the source (we had to read it in uni, I forget the author) exaggerated it, saying that they had come upon native girls by a river who were completed shaved and "put our women's appearance to shame", were teasing the conquistadors and daring them to come closer but their mothers would angrily pull them back or yell at them to come back. The adventure stories of spanish/portuguese were extremely popular back home, so they sometimes were basically literotica/pornographic. Not necessarily reliable. It may have been the same source as the "you would have thought she had been brought up in a school for whores" quote, I don't remember.

The other reason for exaggerations is that England and France were jealous of Spain's wealth (and Navy), so they repeated the more bloodthirsty parts of adventure narratives, leading to the "Black Legend" (I.e., "spain bad") in Europe. Conquistadors and explorers would lie about possible wealth to be given more men and ships, etc. No reason not to lie, who's gonna verify it? If the government sends men after you chances are they'll join in the plunder with you instead of make the arrest.

they did, most missionaries went out of their way to destroy as many as they could find. There were monks who tried to save as much as they could but even those got scattered across Europe. Maya in particular took forever to translate because of how few examples of their writing got properly preserved with enough context to even form basic grammar. I don't think that's true. They would have found a way to use their agricultural surplus to utilize metals, and develop those metals further. It's not to say that one needs the intelligence of Europeans to achieve a complex or urban society. But Europeans made improvements to that in metals for instance in prehistory without any of the urban scale or agricultural surplus of the Aztecs, because they were smarter. That's same reason why the oldest wheels come from there.

technology isn't like a paradox game where you just invest points and find new things. prior to the scientific method, discoveries happened at essentially random times. consider that humans were anatomically modern for ~50,000 - 100,000 years before we figured out agriculture.

>But Europeans made improvements to that in metals for instance in prehistory without any of the urban scale or agricultural surplus
This is also just wrong, the bronze age was an era of sophisticated civilizations and trade networks. You NEED trade to create bronze in most places because tin doesn't occur everywhere. Prior to that it was copper, just like in the Americas.

From the novel Nova Express - sort of a surrealist passage, basically saying that government companies and individuals who attempt to employ the natural ayahuasca drug that was likely originally used by the creators of the Central American religions to visualize the cosmos and its gids (and synthesizing forms of that drug as LSD), was a major fucking mistake that has destroyed some large portion of the countries minds and also created an uncontrollable apparatus of human manipulation and destruction within our forces of power

The lack of horses and other reliable beasts if burden was also a huge technological bottleneck "the wheel and cart were just not really a thing there". The fact that many new world cultures were just as knowledgeable if not more so in things like agriculture, medicine, astronomy, construction, and civic engineering clearly show that they were just as smart as any of the contemporary old world cultures. Their extreme geographic isolation from most of the planet just caused them to develop in a completely different direction culturally and technologicaly. The isolation also caused first contact to start a near extinction level plague that they had 0 defense for that nobody on either side could have known about or prepared for. One of the reasons the colonization of North America was met with so little initial resistance was simply that most of the large population centers were completely wiped out by disease and only smaller less connected tribes were able survive, leaving enormous amounts of what seemed like virgin territory.

>The story is kino af.
That's all of history but to answer your question
>Hollywood is made by retards with no artistic sense
>historical movies are very hard to make
The only good ones I can think of right now is Ghandy by Attenborough and Benedetta and Black Book by Voerhoven.
There are quite a lot of historical shows about the age of discovery and they look like shit.

You know what would be fucking awesome historical fiction? A series about the Aboriginals who first set foot and tried to survive in Australia. If the average person thinks that modern Australian wildlife is scary the should look up the kind of mega fauna that was wandering around bush 50000+ years ago.

LMAO! there were uprisings among the native allies themselves against the alliance, but the natives used religion to manipulate them, you'd know that if you stuck your head out of your ass.

>This is also just wrong, the bronze age was an era of sophisticated civilizations and trade networks
The region that created tin bronze was not a sophisticated civilization. It was a rural Bell Beaker island we now call Britain. Before that was scaled your advanced civilizations were satisfied in letting their smiths get cancer and other diseases from arsenic exposure. It barely crossed the English channel for four centuries before it was progressively adopted throughout Europe, only being fully adopted as we neared the late bronze age.

Anon, natives had copper industries at points in the Americas well before that. And despite having complex trade networks, highly populated cities and trade they NEEDED between them, they never pushed their constraints, or moved past ornamental stages of production. Europeans did that, as did the Chinese and others. This while copper and tin deposits had been rich in what became Latin America the entire time. A whole world of a harder, stronger, infinitely recyclable metal was under their feet the whole time.

Intelligence was absolutely a factor. Despite their advantages they didn't develop these things. Some had done some incredible things but they were not as intelligent as Europeans.

The story is also insanely good for adaptation. It involves very few people, Cortes army was ~500 Spaniards, you could reduce that to a small handfull of characters in the movie (or Tv-series). You could also faithfully have a diverse cast, some of the main people in Cortes' entourage where natives e.g. they had a translater, essentially a whore that had been traded around amongst various tribes. So she spoke all native languages, then became a whore for the Spaniards, and worked as a translator throughout the entire conquest (She actually ended up moving to Spain and became a Duchess, kind of crazy life).
The setting is also nice, traveling through a Jungle, you will naturally only have a few people in the background, like you wouldn't need to CGI anything other than the cities and open field battles.
The entire story revolves around dramas, not battles but actual conversational exchanges.
You could easily do a 6 part mini-series on it, just adapt it as faithful as possible and it would be kino (and probably not that offensive/controversial).

I'm amazed the feminists haven't made a tv series or movie about her.

Sorry to burst your lusty conquistador fantasy, but: age gaps and power imbalances. They couldn't consent if their lovers, fathers, uncles, brothers, cousins were killed by the Spaniards and they were coerced into it.

So basically the Spanish had all but one of their ships destroyed by the plucky English and the Iberian cope is so high they have to include the plague that hit the English ships AFTER the conflict, and the fire ships (small dinghy and dilapidated old wrecks that they set alight and filled with explosives and sent into the Spanish lines) in the figures to make it look less one sided.

Imagine if the Germans has tried to claim they won world war 1 by saying the Allies had more people die of Spanish flu and had used more bullets and better tacktics on them. This is the same as that.

I literally have had browns back off on having a go at me over English people being evil and shit once they knew I'm of entirely Welsh descent (but have a fairly neutral English accent).

Fuck, last week on Halloween a libshit kurdish girl (who was droning on to her friend about how the AfD are Nazis) told me I don't really count as white because Welsh so that means I'm okay in her books lmao.

It's pure brainrot. Real English people with some pride and historical knowledge must have fatigue on another level

The primary reason for them starting the industry revolution was that they were so autistic from being weird island people that they literally invented the train. If it wasn't them it would have been the Japanese but they never had the raw materials like enough decent iron. All the technical and scientific knowledge was there but there wasn't the enormous mining industry that Briton had. Historical fiction is an extremely underrated genere, the problem is it's expensive to do well and it's a bitch to sell without some kind of contemporary subversive culture war nonsense instead of telling a story about people and/or the period they lived in.
