Our goal was to balance a familiar, girl-next-door beauty with something subtly peculiar and unsettling.>It was crucial that Billy’s younger self feel distinctly different from her adult counterpart, more vulnerable, raw, and less guarded. This look offers a glimpse of who she was before she "became" the person we meet later in the film; who she was when the lights were off.>Drawing from the directors chosen Tim Burton reference (Corpse Bride), we introduced a sense of awkwardness and otherworldliness without losing the character’s innocence. Jane loved the hollow, sallow eyes typical of Burton's characters.>To achieve this, we softly sculpted and hollowed the eyes with neutral shadows. We then worked delicate pink undertones into the skin to mimic a natural flush and the kind of discoloration that comes from within. Nothing was too polished or pronounced; we wanted the makeup to feel lived-in, as though it belonged to her skin rather than sitting on top of it.>Ultimately, the look was about surfacing the tension between the familiar and the strange.
