STAR TREKSEX WITH SHRAN
Riker yelled at me for saying “aye aye” instead of just “aye”
Gul Dukat Did Nothing Wrong.
Computer.Generate me 10 seasons of a Sitcom where EMH and Dr. Zimmerman live on Jupiter Station.-I walk over to my Home Movie Theatre's Snack Vendor. Me and my sweetheart pick up some delicious snacks. We then cozy up together in the front row of our theatre and enjoy the show-It's good to be God.
I forgot to mention yesterday that I found Scotty's new haircut a little distracting. It's a good look for Doohan, but it's a bit out of place for the character.Tonight's episode is "The Enterprise Incident". See you in an hour or so.
>>224111967>Gul Dukat Did Nothing Wrong.well he didn't have sex with shran so I think you're wrong
>>224112463Yes. He did have sex with Shran. Many times, in fact. Shran was Dukat's favorite non-Cardassian historical figure and he would often conjure his image in Quark's holosuites during the Dominion occupation of the station.
Guy who is always fucking up and crossposting about WoW Forever, it's almost timealso check 'em
>>224112475huge if true
>B'Elanna is being killed by an alien shrimp that has fused with her pulmonary system and her main concern is that there is a hologram that looks like a Cardassian being used to help find a cureplease just let her fucking die
>>224112582The drama of that episode felt very manufactured
You now remember Starfleet Academy
>>224112485Checked and KEK'd.A toast to WoWever.
Shran sex with Talas
>>224112624with Tarah would be hotter imo
>The Romulan ship was actually a drone piloted by a guy in a trailer on Romulus
spoon cuddling with my Tall Red Haired Pale Fweckled Prominent Front Teeth Prominent Clavicle beloved Goddess Wife as we watch Trek while it is snowing outside.
>NOOOO YOU CAN'T JUST USE MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE THAT WAS GAINED FROM TORTURING BAJORANS!!!!Oh come on, it's not like Bajorans even count as people.
>It's an Ensign Kim passes on an opportunity to becomes Seven of Nine's sex puppet episode
>>224112614this episode is so mind numbingly stupid. I understand the real life parallels but the fact that they are trying to figure out the supposed war crimes of a guy who is 60000 light years away because their chief engineer is being literally triggered to death by a FAKE IMAGE of him is insulting my intelligence
>Sir, it's the U.S.S. Shran. They are hailing us.
Like all sci-fi prequels, Enterprise has the problem of real-world technology keeps improving in the time between it and the original series, so it ends up feeling more advanced than what’s supposed to be its future.>>224112707Just like Beavis and Butthead, Ensign Kim is never allowed to score.
>>224112726Ready phaser torpedoes for direct transport onto their bridge
ENT deserved a full 7 season run.Fucking Tragedy.I will generate the complete run of ENT and ENT Movies.
>>224112735Of course, but it did its best to emulate a more rudimentary “prequel” setting within reason. And it didn’t shy away from showing the old 60s Enterprise bridge in the mirror universe episode
>>224112745Knock down their shields. On my mark, beam out the bridge crew's internal organs.Imagine if they did this?
I think I'm gonna stop watching ENT ladsI'm a few eps into season 3 and absolutely nothing has hooked me
>Der Romulan>He starts war>He fuels war
>>224112751it was already scoring low with general audiences from day 1. The trek formula was tired and doomed, and I’m afraid that even IF ent had writing on-par with a gripping HBO miniseries it still wouldn’t have pulled in the numbers to justify a full run.Just like firefly, it’s better that it saw an early end and that fans can look back on it and say>meh, it was good. Better than what came after it
>>224112777die Vidiian scum
>>224112475I like the dukat of your dujib
>>224112770I thought Enterprise tried its best to look older than TOS. Push button doors, the cramped submarine sets, T'Pol's station has Spock's viewfinder, grapplers instead of tractor beams, etc.Certainly better than something like SNW where you're supposed to pretend that 1701 always had a 50 foot wide glass window instead if a viewscreen, and a giant two-story sickbay
>>224112794Yeah if you’re not invested at this point then I doubt anything will change. Though that being said just know you have shit taste. Maybe lower decks is more your speed
>>224112794>Vulcan nipples
>>224112687>FweckledHey bucktoothed clavicle autist, I'm not gonna kinkshame you or yuck your yum but please stop with the Elmer Fudd talk, you're better than this.
>>224112814The problem is it was just starting ti get good (albeit still inconsistent) in season 4 and finally got to the whole birth of the federation thing that should’ve been the series overarching narrative.>>224112770>>224112829It’s the ubiquitous flatscreen computer monitors more than anything.that makes it look more advanced than TOS.
>>224112844I do it because she's so cute. When I imagine her with her front teeth it makes me say 'fweckles' instead of 'freckles'.
I’ll be halfway through a TNG episode and I have to pause and just think about how fucking good we had it and why why WHY no one is capable of making something even half as good. Picard doesn’t even come close. Throw all millennial writers into a black hole
>>224112921Placing the nutrek writers in an oubliette would be more fitting (everything they do is forgettable).
>>224112921it's not that no one is capable. there is no longer any incentive to make anything good because you no longer have to sell ads during the timeslot it's airing.
>>224111741>>224111746star trek sex with wesley
Imagine "accidentally" losing Wesley in the transport buffer.
>Archer is essentially gonna do what Picard did to expose the Romulans: make a big sensor web/net with ships to catch the Romulans going between them>Also, the Romulans are gonna have fleets of drones to explain why no one saw them in the Federation-Romulan warThis makes sense I suppose, but Romulans committing suicide 100% of the time to avoid capture is more amusing and makes them seem like dangerous enemies who’ll do anything to win.
>>224112707they built in a pussy slit into her costume?very very nice indeed
>>224113147I like in the pretend S5 novels where the Romulans can remote hijack ships and force them to fire on each other
soon
at the beginning of the show I kinda liked Tom but he just seems pathetic now. he's like, stuck as the exact same person as when the show started and it's cringe.
>>224113394>Archer tries to ask the Cogenitor race for help against the Romulans>in response they forbid all contact with "lesser" speciesGod I fucking hate those guys so much I hope the Roms fry their planet
>>224113450There's only so much he can do on Voyager tho. People always talk about Harry being an Ensign for seven years but, had they never left the Alpha Quadrant, Tom would probably have been pardoned to fight the Dominion. He could have been a Lieutenant Commander and Second Officer by the time the war ended.
>>224113537im not talking about his rank, im actually watching the one where he gets demoted to Ensign. im talking about his development as a person. he still has that>I'M THE MAIN CHARACTER AND EVERYONE LOVES MEenergy that is just really hard to watch when all the other crew members have seriously grown up and become big boys and girls
>>224113427He already won.
>>224113203>What’s that, Beverly? You want Wesley to watch?>mmm, make it so
>Shran was an ice-basement dweller until he was a teenager.
>>224113795oh so you're watching my most hated episode
>>224112043It seriously pisses me off how often I forget to put my name back on, but this is because I post on other boards and would never bring my namefaggery to bear elsewhere. It suits its purpose here and here alone.Anyway, DC Fontana presents another beguiling mystery in the form of a straightforward story that the audience simply lacks all the facts for. In this case, being a Romulan tale, it makes perfect sense for a mission this secret to necessitate tricking the entire crew (aside from Spock) into thinking Kirk has gone nuts and gotten himself killed in an extremely tragic manner. It's a wonder the Romulans held hostage in the Enterprise brig had no communicators themselves, otherwise they would've blown the whole thing open. Then again, they also don't search Spock for his communicator even before the seduction (to their cause) begins. It's frustrating to me on a personal level that the Romulan Commander never gets a name, even if they do have the scene where she whispers it into Spock's pointed ear as a secret between them, because I want to be able to refer to characters by more than just their title. I feel the same frustration over unnamed Redshirts dying, especially since they managed to keep giving them names until sometime in the middle of season 2 (can't tell exactly when since I'm watching these in airdate order rather than production). But especially because I thought the Commander falling prey to her own whirlwind romance with Spock when he was just performing his duty was just as intriguing and bittersweet as Fontana intended it to be, and I just don't like not having a name so it can be more than just "the time he did actually catch feelings for A Romulan Commander". It's a very silly quibble, and not a serious denigration against the episode, which was very enjoyable.Romulan Kirk was really cool & funny too.
>>224113932Oh yeah, I nearly forgot another weird thing that I noticed: did they just put in that moment about the Romulans disguising their ships as Klingon vessels in because the production staff lost the normal props for the Warbirds between seasons? Or worse yet, is it because of what you guys mentioned last thread, where Roddenberry was selling off concept art and sold the Warbirds too, thinking the show was already as good as cancelled so may as well make as high a profit as he can? It doesn't make any sense to me if it isn't one of those two things.
>>224113971>Although long thought otherwise, from the very first draft, the script had the Romulans using Klingon ships. The series had a lot of money invested in the Klingon model and needed to get its money's worth.>This episode was originally aired before "Elaan of Troyius" so when the audience first saw the Klingon ships, they were being used by Romulans.>The Howard Anderson Company, responsible for the visual effects photography involving the D7-class starships, offered the producers a choice if they should prioritize this episode or "Elaan of Troyius". "The Enterprise Incident" was chosen because its ties to the "Pueblo incident" made the episode timelier. "Elaan of Troyius" could wait until December to be broadcast. Oh, I hadn't realized that this was the first time we ever see any Klingon ships onscreen. The previous Klingon episodes did a really great job of dancing around that issue. Well, I'm glad it was because of that instead of what I suspected to be the case. This Pueblo Incident is also very interesting, I swear I've seen another movie or tv show do a similar thing, but maybe I'm just thinking about ships crossing into enemy territory in general.
>>224113838Why? It’s not that bad, other than a subspecies of telepathic Andorians suddenly existing.
I for one am glad that DailyTrekAnon posts here. The analyses are thoughtful (even if I don't always agree) they're on topic and the name can be filtered if you're autistic about that. Thanks again DTA, let me know when you get to DS9.
Oh God, I’ve arrived at the infamous Klingons lose their ridges two-parter. Fuck DS9 for bringing that up and fuck Enterprise for explaining it instead of disregarding it.
Klingons not having their own ship until season 3 was insane considering Romulans had theirs since day oneThe D7 class battlecruiser was kino as hell too.
>>224114202yeah that's actually the main reason I hate it because before I felt really strongly about Andorians before I watched Enterprise and that show pretty much shit all over them absolutely culminating with that episode but you can just read my thoughts at the time here if you care so I don't have to write it all over again. https://archive.4plebs.org/tv/thread/213446261/#213446659
That was a really good CGI Targ.>>224114265The D7 design is so good it showed. Up in 90s Tre k.
>>224113838Why? it's got albino sex with shran
>>224114307yeah if read my write-up in that archive link here >>224114273 that's the only thing I praise it for.it's one of the reasons I even started the sex with shran thing is cuz I just love how they show how he regards women in the show it's very sexy and manly which are qualities Archer severely lacks.
Commander Collins is a cutie.
>T’Pol’s gonna finger Hoshi to figure out who attacked PhloxNice
>>224112707>dour-faced boob goblin
>>224114247DS9 was doing a TOS tribute episode, a fantastic one at that, involving Worf. DS9 handled it perfectly -- a one off joke that leaves it a mystery because we all know it's a production decision and has no in-world explanation.Seeing this as some sort of lore gap that needs to be filled is retarded
>>224114265The skinny neck is a single point of failure and retarded. Double so when we learn that redundancy is built into Klingon physiology and therefore should be a cultural touchstone.
>>224114552>Seeing this as some sort of lore gap that needs to be filled is retardedTHANK YOU.
>>224114552> Seeing this as some sort of lore gap that needs to be filled is retardedThat’s not how autistic nerd brains work.
This Klingon Augment reminds me of Jason Momoa.
>If we go below 50 warps an hour, the ship’s going to explodeSpeed is one of the last things I’d expect Star Trek to reference.
>>224112707never found her sexy at all and I can't explain why because she should be hot in theory
>>224114900buggy eyes which by itself isn't bad + puffy lip study by itself isn't bad = Peter Lorre rule 63
>>224114743Autism? In the Star Trek fanbase? No way.
>>224115277Yeah but there's like regular autism and train autism and baseball autism and sonic autism and mecha autism and demanding an in-world solution to every production decision in sci-fi autism and we can all agree there is a magnitude scale
star trek isn't real
>>224115401It is as real as what you call "real life".
>>224115419No it isn't. If I don't pay my utilities in star trek they get shut off. If I ignore the 21st century finance douche my retirement gets fucked.
>>224112614Youd think so but I've seen people with life threatening injuries refuse treatment cause of shit like they didn't want a man to touch them or the doctor wasn't Muslim and other just completely stupid shit
Janeway was pretty damn horny for that alien whose job it was to send children to concentration camps.
>Latent Imagewhat in the actual fuck were they thinking with this episode? I hate literally everything about it. This script should have been thrown in the trash
>>224116995It's genuinely one of the best Voyager episodes even though Braga gutted the script with the ending. What don't you like about it?
I wish to have sex with this klingon.
>>224117067being jerked around with a mystery plot that takes up half the episode which is ultimately pointless to the entire 2nd half. the setup and events of the incident being contrived as fuck and something you would never see happen in a real episode. being asked to entertain the idea that it was a triage situation where someone had to die that caused a Doctor to literally go insane just because he also evolved a personality which makes no fucking sense at all. awkwardly shoehorning in the idea that this is somehow about the "nature of individuality" to make it seem DEEP when it has nothing to do with that. Janeway regarding the Doctor as purely a machine when that's totally out of character at this point and then immediately changing her mind on it for no reason later. because Seven tried to guilt trip her? you would think if Seven really felt that strongly she would have a solution to offer not just literally whine to the captain and tell her her decision hurts her feelings. also out of character. the way the Doctor was acting was actually deranged and dangerous indicating that the problem may very well have been with his programming in which case they could and should have attempted to fix the error in a more sophisticated way than just deleting his memory because having to make decisions where people die and live with them is not a hard concept. but no one even tried that. the "solution" if you can even call it that comes out of nowhere and just "well let's try talk therapy except no one here is a therapist or capable of actually helping him that way so we'll take shifts sitting in a room staring at him while he schizo rambles himself hopefully out of insanity." I cannot seriously entertain anything that happens in this episode.at one point in time this might have had potential. but the final product is actual total shit. im guessing they agonized over how to do this episode and just ran out of time in the end and had to just shoot it.
>The Doctor loses his shit>Janeway deletes him and the Cardassian doctor hologram takes over for the remainder of the show
>>224116623I like in the end when it turns out she knew the whole time that he was using her>>224116995>>224117309wow one of the best episodes of star trek and you got completely and utterly filtered by it
>>224117339she didn't KNOW she had doubts and enough sense not to trust his plan, which paid off. but if it had turned out he was genuine she would have fucked his brains out after they dropped off those refugees.
>>224117309Man I wish you didn't write this as a giant blob. It's okay to use sentence breaks. I had to force myself to read it because it's so poorly formatted.Anyway, the reason the Doctor has a schizo breakdown is because he's basically a LLM that has achieved true sentience. The consequence of this is that he is ill-equipped to deal with a true on-the-spot moral quandary where he is left with regrets about his own decision making. His program simply cannot process the emotional overload and thusly, he starts spinning out of control. Also, I believe they did try to fix his program in more sophisticated ways -- it was just they landed on the memory suppression because Torres couldn't find any other way to deal with his subroutines breaking down. The ending is the weak part because Braga did one of his hatchet jobs. It has an interesting production spool that you can read about on Memory Alpha.
>>224117412>Man I wish you didn't write this as a giant blob. It's okay to use sentence breaks.character limit. i didn't want to make multiple posts talking about it. and like I said, I clearly see the potential for a great episode about him having to deal with making the choice for someone to die and it having unexpected effects on him as a hologram. but I'm not gonna imagine that great episode in my mind just to pretend this one didn't turn out fucking terrible
>Archer receives three Orion slave girls who start dancing Yeah it’s horny, but is it horny ENOUGH?

"Respect is a three-edged sword" - Michael Burnham
>>224117459its fine except the ending. should have had emh ask to have the memories erased after concluding he is not capable of coping with the ethical problems of using rng to practice medicine.
>>224112726putting the name on the side of the ship makes it look stupid
>>224118824activating the memories entirely fuck with his program so that ending is impossible but it would be just as mawkish as the rest of the episode I suppose
>>224112735>Ensign Kim is never allowed to score. He fucked alien bitches all the time, he just fumbled Seven.
crazy how tiresome and unlikable Wesley is meanwhile Jake and Naomi Wildman are always pure kino
>>224117189I can fix her
Naomi Wildman is cute AND funny.
>>224113427>soonSooner
>>224111731Why was everybody like "kill Tuvix, we need Tuvok back. And Neelix I guess." But with this guy nobody was like "Kill the drone, we need Doctor to be mobile again"?
>>224113427>>224120863This is literally greatest race ever right now.
>>224120886the Doctor was he just had the good sense to not say it out loud
>>224120947He was whining about it for the whole epiosde.
Tom is absolutely fucking insane they've been on this planet for like a week and he's literally yelling at Tuvok trying to get him to fuck an alien because.......??????? He's like, actually mad. What the hell is wrong with him? I think I really hate Tom he has like the really bad kind of debilitating autism where he doesn't act like a normal person and everyone is forced to accommodate him. Everything involving him seems to be about other having to cater to his whims, manage his emotions or fix some shit he caused
>so much time has passed that ENT now looks similar to 90s carpet trekI used to think Enterprise looked so sleek and modern. Maybe it’s time to finally watch it
why did /trek/ have to kill Patrick stewart?
>>224121199To make sure there is no season 4.

>>224121732Everyone dies
>>224114552Yup, the fault was on Enterprise writers, that they decided to explain something that no one asked about. Always a mistake.
>>224114616...anyway, do you know why they call it Ten Forward? Well, you won't believe the wacky reason for it...
>>224121875DAS RITE I like the part where Guinan (an alien) was like Y'ALL WHY FOLX DON'T KNOW HOW IT BE
>>224121113I’m watching ENT now immediately after VOY and it feels a bit old, but still much more modern and less clunky than VOY and the rest of TNG-era Trek, which which all had to retain the same basic style of TNG even as VOY tried to modernize where it could. ENT seems more similar to other 2000s sci-fi and TV than the Treks that came before it.
>>224118300>”Respect is a trident”- Poseidon
>>224120886The Doctor as they knew him still existed, he just couldn’t leave sick bay. >Whine about losing your mobile emitter>Write a story about how it’s a ball and chain that limits you No wonder the crew was pissed
>>224114238Thanks man, I appreciate the kind words. It'll be around half a year before I get to DS9, if Memory-Alpha's "Released in All" order is accurate (245 - 58 = 187, 187 ÷ 30 ≈ 6). Then again, that's if I decide to interleave TNG & DS9. If I get to that point in S6 of TNG and want to just finish it before DS9, then that'll be another 40 episodes/days on top of the 6ish months. I still haven't decided on what I'm gonna do there, but I'm definitely gonna interleave DS9 & VOY, for fun. This estimation also leaves out any considerations I might make for breaks, something I haven't done yet but may become a necessity due to unforeseen circumstances.
>>224122450>he just couldn’t leave sick bay.he actually could, they set up holo emitters over most of the entire ship. it makes him seem even more entitled and deranged that he would rather kill his own son just to be able to walk around outside the ship but I honestly kind of like that about him. I guess that's hologram morality for you.

>>224123713Tom was flying the ship, designing super shuttle, helping the Doctor, invented infinite speed, and was maestro of holodeck programing. If he had more time, he would probably be a better cook then Neelix. He was just too good for Voyager.
The difference is no one will ever remember nuTrek in 30 years (half of it has already been forgotten)
>>224123807Just like people who grew up with Star Wars Prequels came out of the woodwork when they grew up, so will children watching NuTrek.
>>224123774Damn right.Although he didn't really invent infinite speed, they just modified the shuttle to take advantage of the magic special dilithium they found in an asteroid. And harry was a better technical holodeck programmer, Tom was just a better artist and made programs people actually wanted to visit.BUT. He gave the delta flyer aviator switches and dials and shit, so that makes him cooler than 90% of people in star fleet.
>>224123745When you make 26 episodes seasons, most of which are good, you can tolerate a joke episode every now and then. When you make 12 episode seasons spaced with two years between the seasons and the episodes are mostly trash - a joke episode will just infuriate you.

>>224112582Very all over the place. The episode simultaneously declares the cardassian doctor and his work evil and delete both… and then proceed to use his work to save Bellana. Kinda takes the wind out of the sails of their (stupid) moral stand.
>>224124649the moral stand isn't really stupid, it's a personal choice I think B'Elanna should have the right to make (if she was a civilian in that situation) but the entire setup and specific circumstances were too sloppy for it to have any meaning and it really just boiled down to typical Maquis histrionics
>>224111731Explain to me like i am a retard or the writers are a bunch of retards, so all the action, wars, death and rape in Star trek during 2-3 centuries, did all of this happen within an area spanning several thousand light-years? I mean if you look at some maps you will think the whole main factions cover almost the entire galaxy, but when you look a little more you realise the Borg will rape everyone because they are the biggest and the Federation/Klingons and Romulans are small as fuck and put together cover only a few thosands of light-years
kys toon troon
>>224124694Fair enough, but I also wonder about all the redshirts who died whom otherwise might have lived if Voyager had kept the cardassian doctor- like for example that one woman who died and got resurrected into being an alien. Maybe the cardassian would’ve thought of something that the Doctor didn’t.
People will watch this episode and say "why yes, I'm still anti AI"
>>224124966What's the relevance to AI in that episode?
>>224124907i think what really sealed the deal for the Doc to decide to delete him was Moset's blatant disregard for the life of that shrimp thing they were trying to remove from B'Elanna. it gave more credence to the Maquis position and personally I wouldn't want to be consulting a guy like that for medical ideas which will end up having you do things that will further compromise your own ethics.
>>224124996The episode is very relevant to Artificial Intelligence, but not at all to Large Language Models or Machine Learning Algorithms. Nothing we have today is anywhere near a Multitronic, let alone a Positronic brain.

I watch no more than 1 episode of each a week, and take a few weeks or even a month between seasons. Not much point to this blogpost except to say that having time to absorb each episode is nice, I'll even listen to recaps/analyses of episodes as I wait to watch "next week's" episode. >>224123005I wonder if some of that might be because of actors complaining about uncomfortable previous uniforms, or if they just figured having 80% of them be black would let them cheap out just a bit. Tonight's episode is "The Paradise Syndrome", which I heard has another ancient alien race similar to the Progenitors in it (or in this case, one of several TOS races which probably inspired the Progenitors for TNG, alongside the Arretan of "Return to Tomorrow"). Maybe my mind will be changed after watching the episode, but seeing this coming down the line right after several Parallel Earth stories has me thinking that maybe some genetic/racial memory makes more sense than Hodgkin's Law. Of course, this has the unfortunate side effects of 1) implying racial memory is not merely the collective unconscious but some foundational Ur-consciousness and 2) increases the relevancy of "Catspaw", the episode that uses that term in the first place to explain how the Ornithoids made a haunted house for the Enterprise crew. I'm really not trying to rag on "Catspaw", so don't set your phasers to kill, have a sense of gumor.>>224131751Yeah, I probably would be watching multiple episodes per day if I thought that I could digest the events of a given plot while still having time for my other commitments, but I always sign off on these anchor posts with "see you in an hour Or So" because it takes me like 2 hours minimum for a single episode. TAS & the movies are gonna go much quicker, since the former has a 30 minute runtime, and I watch movies different than episodes (the illness appears to be primarily mental). There's more I could go into (and have in the past) but I wanna start tonight's episode already and I got delayed by an hour because my wifi kept screwing with me.Oh and don't take the reaction image personally, it's just the only screenshot I got from yesterday's episode, and it'd be a good forum weapon for anyone to use (like most of my reaction images I save from the episodes).
>>224131751>I wonder if some of that might be because of actors complaining about uncomfortable previous uniforms, or if they just figured having 80% of them be black would let them cheap out just a bit. TNG is available in true HD unlike VOY, and S3+ their uniforms all look to be made from a nice, thicker wool-like material. I know VOY's uniforms were supposed to be wool as well, but the later TNG uniforms just appear to be a bit higher quality (picrel shows more of the material detail)TNG S3 to S7, DS9 (S1 to mid S5), and Voyager all use the same wool material for the uniforms. The only difference is that TNG used a “two piece“ (separate tunic and trousers) uniform while DS9 and Voyager used a single piece jumpsuit. But it's still the same material. You can't tell because the DS9 and Voyager video isn't in HD and it's harder to see the fabric texture.Based on interviews with the staff, the reason they changed the uniform was because of a change in clothing design philosophy for the new series. TNG = formal and dignified uniforms for the flagship of Starfleet Designers wanted a different look for new shows. DS9 and Voyager = more utilitarian. Not as prestigious. More blue collar feeling. Needs to give off a "work clothing" vibe. Similar to a mechanic's jumpsuit. They wanted characters to be able to roll up their sleeves, or take off their top shirt (and tie it around their waist) for some scenes. They couldn't do that in TNG.
so did Seven not know there was a Borg queen? she seems flabbergasted lol. did she just become a thing in the 2 years after she left the collective?
>>224131869Untrue. One night my kid was sick and I showed the child and episode of prodigy. Within minutes aforementioned child was bored. So one child tried.
>>224131968The whole concept of this would've worked so much better if other Federation ships we encountered in TNG had different uniforms but you can't really say they're prestigious flagship uniforms when every Tom, Dick, and Harry Kim wear them too.
>>224132012Nobody knew there was a Borg Queen until First Contact when Brannon Braga pulled her out of his ass
>>224132041im having trouble wrapping my mind around the concept to be honest

this Borg plan with Seven makes no damn sense to me>individuality is good actually >that's why we let Voyager take you and leave the collective>but also we need to reBorg you because you've forgotten how to be a Borg>we need you for some reason to let us "see humanity" even though we've already assimilated thousands of humans and have billions of memories somehow your UNIQUE HUMAN PERSPECTIVE of 2 years on a ship playing Kadis-kot is the key to everything>straight up lying when she says Seven is the only Borg to return to an individual>they know she isn't going to help them willingly with this schizo bitch supposedly in charge it's a wonder the Borg ever managed to do anything
Cute picture of the crew.
>>224131958I wanted to make some funny comment about Akoocheemoya, but that ending was so sad that it feels tasteless now. Salish's dad must've really hated his son to take the sacred knowledge of the Wise Ones to his grave. I also really thought the giant silver disc on his head would be a component they have to slot into the machine to make it work, but Spock just presses the right button and it pushes the asteroid away. What's the point of the Preserves putting a button that erases your memory on the device? Like, it's gotta happen for the episode to happen, but the moment it happened I thought "may as well have dropped a coconut on his head".It follows a lot of the same plot beats as "Gamesters of Triskelion", something I only noticed because it's written by the same woman (Margaret Armen), but the additions (of Spock solving the problem WHILE he & Bones are closing in on the planet Kirk's stuck on, and the larger amount of importance given to Kirk's romance with the alien woman) make for a much better plot that matches well with her sentimental writing. The ending to "Triskelion" was bittersweet but a tiny bit silly, this was quite perfectly tragic.
>>224132041>>224132049>>224132061They explanation was that it was difficult to portray the Borg in a dramatic fashion when they are a collective faceless enemy.Supposedly they wanted to put a "face" to the Borg. So a queen who rules an insect hive concept was chosen.

>>224136743Locutus's mission is nonsense and he exists to interface with humanity like the Borg Queen. And then the writers did it again with Hugh and later with the group of liberated Borg. Their first appearance in Q Who is the only time they've actually been a faceless collective.

Getting towards the end of DS9. I think I'm probably an outlier, but I prefer the show before they start going out in the Defiant. I don't mind 4-7 with the Dominon war and all, but preferred the more 'grounded' and day-to-day episodes on the station prior to things escalating. I really liked the Bajor/Cardassian plots in the early series, and wholly expected them to do a 180 later as the series progressed, with Bajor becoming a hostile party towards Cardassia. The rug-pull with Dukat's cgaracter development and him going full 1488 wasn't interesting imo, but it still makes ok television. I know you could argue he was always like that, but eh. I prefer Garak's story-lines mostly tbhdesu.I dislike that they didn't do more with Jadzia, and 'soft' killed her off towards the end of S5 with the full death at S6, which was a pretty lame death. Ezri is fine, but nothing special. I wish they'd done more about Jake and his career, feels like that falls off a cliff later in the series. Same kind of thing happens to Quark, as well as a few of the other supporting cast, where the show is just 'DOMONIONDOMINONDOMINON, Oh look here's Vic Fontain for the 100th time, DOMINONDOMINON, etc.' towards the end.Overall a very good show, but isn't as good as people make it out to be. Would r8 a solid 7.5/10, with my favourite still being TOS at an 8.5/10.

>>224139840Haven't seen this episode yet, but knew she was going to die eventually. I never knew quite what they were doing with Kai Winn. She was quite ominous in S1 when still a Vedek, but became pretty 'nothing' towards the mid series. The episode where she's overthrown as leader is interesting, but nothing really happens to her afterwards? It's just a bit strange, as if they were trying to give her some character development, then in the next episode she's a massive cunt for no reason (Vedek Bareil's death) then you have an episode where she's mildly sympathetic. I suppose it's a way to make her more 'complicated' but I don't think it landed well.
