After Dune, you're so excited to keep reading only for each sequel novel to be more and more bogged-down in navel-gazing while the story you're interested in the continuation of is just quickly brushed over in favor of ramblings, musings, and increasingly purple prose. By the time you get to the last book, Chapterhouse, the writing style has degraded to the point of being on the same level as a Harlequin Romance novel, hitting all the predictable notes in such a predictable order with such uninteresting characters who are only treated like you should care about them because they are the distant descendants of Paul Atreides, but even that isn't enough to make you give the least little shit whether they get killed by a space tiger or not. So basically, everybody remembers how Game of Thrones was after they crossed the Dance of Dragons threshold and what that lack of source material backing up the writers did to that show. Dunc is going to be just like that only even worse, because the source material doesn't disappear, it DEGRADES in every sequel. So instead of the question becoming, "Can they make a good movie out of Dune," it instead becomes, "Can they make good film adaptations out of a series of increasingly bad sequel novels?"If they can't even make a good movie out of a GREAT book, how are they going to make a good movie out of a really bad book?
