After Dune, you're so excited to keep reading only for each sequel novel to be more and more bogged-down in navel-gazing while the story you're interested in the continuation of is just quickly brushed over in favor of ramblings, musings, and increasingly purple prose. By the time you get to the last book, Chapterhouse, the writing style has degraded to the point of being on the same level as a Harlequin Romance novel, hitting all the predictable notes in such a predictable order with such uninteresting characters who are only treated like you should care about them because they are the distant descendants of Paul Atreides, but even that isn't enough to make you give the least little shit whether they get killed by a space tiger or not. So basically, everybody remembers how Game of Thrones was after they crossed the Dance of Dragons threshold and what that lack of source material backing up the writers did to that show. Dunc is going to be just like that only even worse, because the source material doesn't disappear, it DEGRADES in every sequel. So instead of the question becoming, "Can they make a good movie out of Dune," it instead becomes, "Can they make good film adaptations out of a series of increasingly bad sequel novels?"If they can't even make a good movie out of a GREAT book, how are they going to make a good movie out of a really bad book?

Bought my tickets for Doomsday. Everything around me was sold out until Sunday and I got pretty much the last 2 in the theater except for front row. This one will be making many billies.
>>224139388Dune Messiah is actually better written than Dune however. It is probably Frank Herbert's most elegant and poetic literature. And God Emperor is better than Children of Dune. Those are the only Dune books that are any good: the original, Messiah and God Emperor. It is interesting how Pro-Palestine Frank is. Some say he put Jews in the last Dune book he wrote just to dispel people thinking he was antisemite. "The Dosadi Experiment" is probably the most nakedly pro Palestine book I've ever read. It might as well have been called "The Zionist Experiment".
Doomsday is obviously going to make like 3 Billion dollars. I'm personally hoping it gets mediocre to bad reviews because it would be funny watching the fans crash out at the idea that the MCU is a Transformers tier slop franchise. I doubt it'll happen because the movie review apparatus has been captured by geek culture almost completely. So many RT certified critics are just youtubers and geek bloggers who only got into movies because of capeshit.
