Isn't this supposed to be a coomer franchise?
Where were all the hot girls?
>>
it's literally just a generic zombie movie with the resident evil title slapped on. zach cregger tried so hard not to be paul worthless slut anderson that he ended up making something with even less to do with the IP in question. probably got an inflated ego from all the half-genuine hype over weapons
>>
>pan to some dark place
>DUN DUN
>CGI thing slowly, or rapidly, enters frame
This happened like 5 or 6 times
Brother would it kill them to have ONE fucking real puppet
The movie was fine as the action is good
But I can only get starttled by cgi stuff once untill you break my suspension of disbelief
>>
>>224163976
Fat man in sewer was a puppet. So were the falling blood bags. You'd be surprised at how much practical was used here.
>>
>>224164054
Of course I'll be surprised, because that's not how you should fucking use the real fucking props, you completely made my point.
The fucking blood bags can easily be done in cgi and the baby should have been the real thing.
It's supposed to fucking scare you.
>BOOOO CGI STUFF UUU
It's the other fucking way around the whole movie is like this
>>
>>224164100

I don't think I did. The best effects are the ones where you don't know how they were done. I thought the fat guy was an actor in prosthetic.

Was convinced the baby was a puppet. Was one of the scariest scenes for me, outside of the ladies torso being baited away.

The blood bags would not have had the weight. You feel the impact with each hit and so did the actor. Reportedly one almost killed him, landing too close. You wouldn't get that with CGI.
>>
>>224164190
Brother are you going to make me list all the cgi scarejumps? Because I have nothing better to do.
But you are already being bad faith by going "well I think this cgi thing was actually a puppet!" So I dunno if I should waste my time here instead of masturbating or something
Fuck you
>>
>>224164247

Naw Fuck you, kid. A google search later and I can confirm the baby was practical. Stop being a jaded cynical asshole and watch more films.
>>
>>224164285
>look it up
>it has cgi on top
As fake as the last thing prequel
If it's going to read as cgi then excuse me if I don't think it was a puppet.
Now tell me which other cgi scares are puppets:
>the dog in the barn
>the door with the limbs in the house
>the kid screaming in the bus
>rats coming out of the fat puppet
I'm not against CGI use.
There is a couple I liked.
The kid's feet I like.
The first monster mass chasing in the distant woods that gets shot by the police women, that was cool. But then it was in the elevator. And in the building. And in the building from outside. And chasing him in an alley. The cgi just keeps going and fucking going and going.
>>
>>224163443
What's the deal with Zach Cregger's Resident Evil film?
It's not a film! and it's not Resident Evil!
Enjoy the AI slop, y'all
>>
>>224164524

I kinda liked the mass chasing him nonstop. It reminded me of your Nemesis or Tyrant type villains. The girls face opening freaked me out cause I knew it was coming (thanks to this retched place) but the implications and specifics are what made the effect. Her being aware and screaming for help. It was the same thing with the baby sequence. How it hit so closed to home for Bryan is what made it all the more dreadful.

CGI doesn't need to look realistic for me. I'm not gonna forget I'm watching a movie. But the effect behind the effects are what make them really shine. And I thought they all shined bright.
>>
>>224164838
Maybe, at the end of the day, the thing that stands out, is that plebs will eat any kind of slop
>>
>>224163443
>Where were all the hot girls?
Gone. Resident Evil is tasteful art now.
>>
>>224164872

God loves you. But you're boring. Stop spamming the word slop. You sound like you just learned it. Like the "aparently" kid.
>>
>>224164960
>the "aparently" kid.
Certified kino as underlined by (you) mentioning him probably over 10 years later.
>>
>>224165052

He was a joke we all shared with each other. Less Kino, more Meme-o?

>>224164902

I wouldn't go that far. The series has always been a bit campy. Even this new film had a slapstick moment in the lab.
>>
>>224163443
Cregger hates casting pretty people.
>>
>>224164054
>Fat man in sewer was a puppet.
I really want to see some behind the scenes footage of that thing. I read it was a 2000 pound animatronic.
>>
>>224165548

Yeah, that's pretty wild. The sweat on it and how they lit the shot made it look very real.
>>
>>224165141
>The series has always been a bit campy.
Camp is in line with tasteful art for the midcult. It's also an overused word that's lost much of its meaning.
>>
>>224165904

Much like cringe and slop. But I still think the term camp can firmly be applied to a series with B horror film roots.
>>
I feel bad for Zach. I really thought he made it big when I saw the trailer, I'd forgotten he existed and then this happens. Hopefully he learns and is able to redeem himself. I believe in you bro
>>
>>224163443
this movie kinda sucked, I get why people liked it but there was really no point to it at all
>>
>>224166337
>Much like cringe and slop.
Those words were always overly broad, but camp is something that used to be something more particular, but now it's anything that falls out of line of realism or naturalism, that isn't outright surreal or dreamlike in some way.
>But I still think the term camp can firmly be applied to a series with B horror film roots.
A term firmly applied? You're clearly not someone who cares much about words. I don't give a fuck about camp. Resident Evil is now tasteful art for the masses.
>>
I enjoyed the movie because I was laughing at the retarded protagonist. He was so unlikable though. It was more like Resident Evil: Superheroes Not Allowed.

>production cost: 75mil
>box office: 400mil
wow
>>
I enjoyed the first 30 minutes way more than the last hour. I really hated the ending; I think it would have been a more interesting ending with him getting the cure, but everyone is dead.
The main actor is funny and the humor is pretty solid. But the movie is also mean spirited to him and I didn’t care for that. He’s a fuck up, but he actually tried to help that little girl and apologized to his GF for being an asshole. But the movie fucks him regardless.
>>
>>224163443
this movie makes me not want to play resident evil games
>>
>>224163829
>it's literally just a generic zombie movie with the resident evil title slapped on
This. They shouldn't have sullied the Resident Evil name, and just gone with their own name and idea. It's obvious they did it just so that the movie would draw attention. It's a shame that Capcom agreed to let them call it Resident Evil.
>>
>>224166413

It's really not. But I guess if you keep repeating yourself you'll make it so. Hell, maybe if you say it three times in a row the candyman will appear.
>>
>>224167645
Understand that I could make the same reply to you. Feel free to show me your definition of camp.
>>
>>224167673
Sincere and played completely straight regardless of how ridiculously out of the ordinary the material may be.

It's typically noted in performances and line delivery (think every B movie, including RE1 cutscenes) but sometimes comes across in visuals as well.

Camp used to be more hapenstance and as far as anyone who truly understands it is concerned "rule of cool" is basically a relative. It's like camp, but done intentionally.

There. Now you can tell your parents you learned something today.
>>
>>224167842
Tell my parents that I learned someone's personal definition of camp?
>Sincere and played completely straight regardless of how ridiculously out of the ordinary the material may be
So according to your definition, Batman and Robin is not camp. Yeah. Okay. Anywho, I originally said that Resident Evil had entered into the realm of tasteful art, implying that gazing at hot chicks was no longer allowed. Your claims about camp, and your bizarre definition that seems totally wrong to me, doesn't really change what I said. There's no real contradiction. I'll continue to believe that the word camp is a word that has largely lost its meaning, and your post merely affirms that already held belief for me.

There. Now don't forget to tell your parents you love them in your suicide letter.
>>
>>224167907

>So according to your definition, Batman and Robin is not camp. Yeah. Okay

Not organcally. Natural camp would have far less wink-wink nudge-nudge. If you said Batman Forever, you'd be right on the money. But alas, you fail to understand camp.

Your tasteful art argument is nonsense. RE is simply adapting with the times. "Gazing at hot chicks no longer being allowed" is happening all around you. We're still being treated to mens asses and gay sex scenes. No one in their right mind would consider these things tasteful. It's crass, just aimed at male objectification as opposed to the ladder.

Why would I end my life? I'm a family man who owns his home. You're an ignorant incel who probably doesn't even own his car.

I'm sorry no one loves you. But your shitty attitude and your refusal to open your mind to different perspectives doesn't help.

Cop dont shoot like that. Also she shushed the company man, implying she knew at least as much. Yes, I know that in the game she'd have been just a cop, not a glowie mommy.
>>
i liked the movie just a bit too much jokes for my taste
>>
Flawed but ok movie. The biomass accumulation idea is better than how people grow and morph in the games. Its just accepted as a RE trope that the virus will make a normal human grow 10x their size. (Or more)
>>
The goods:
-Some nice nods to the games (the monster chasing you during the entire run and always coming back like nemesis and mr. x; the gun section where you struggle to aim and the lockers)
-The section in the house (that's where the director is the best at, just like in weapons)
-The atmosphere of the first part

The bads:
-The second part of the movie in the city, where there's too much immersive breaking stuff that put you out of the movie.
-0 variation in the monsters, the fat guy could have been some fucked up mr. x but nope it's just tentacle monsters all over.
-The scientists of umbrella, pure reddit.
-0 hot girl which is a trademark of RE, THE gooner franchise.

I feel like this movie has the same weakness as the RE franchise: It's just not believable. They can't nail the "what if some zombie outbreak happened in modern day USA city".
Therefore you are not scared because none of this is believable. Raccoon city isn't believable.

Imo, that's why the first RE movie will always be the best: because the set up about a powerful corporation in a top secret research facility is perfect with a lot of mystery around it.
>>
>>224164190
You need your eyes checked if you thought that baby wasn't cgi dude.
>>
Barbarian was such a letdown, it could've been about the creepy airbnb instead it turned into Godzilla or something.

RE was okay, but i don't find a rolling ball of bodies scary or interesting. The setup was good but a little drawn out.

I don't care at all about the abortion storyline, that and the girlfriend should've been left out entirely.

I love the first RE movie because it's an actual zombie movie. This shit just feels like dreamcatcher or the thing. Like what's the point if you can't actually kill these things?

Actually loved the main, he gave Martin Freeman vibes and considering he was alone for most of it, his quips were well delivered, although as many pointed out there was too much.

There was little tension, except about making the antidote and then that was totally thrown in your face anyway, so that was annoying.

Reminds me of a bad version of Cabin in the Woods, Joss Whedon would've elevated this movie to where it should be.
>>
>>224170621
>Raccoon city isn't believable.
RE has always had an unhappy marriage of shooter fans and lorefags. Raccoon City and most of what happens there is believable if you take the lorefag route but that's a slowburn where the city collapses over the course of months and all the action happens all at once at the very end hours before the city is nuked.

It would work as a miniseries but many would get mad because you'd have like 10 eps without any zombies, and then a bunch in the finale. (In which almost every character established would die.)
>>
>>224170640

It was clearly a rod puppet. Watch more films, chud
>>
>>224170945
>Raccoon City and most of what happens there is believable
I have nothing against the premise of an outbreak. It can perfectly happen IRL (wuhan, recently in russia).
The issue is the execution.
The best part of these movies is too see the colapse of the society. But it's not where RE shines.
The Crazies (2010) got some of this right.
I always enjoy seeing military getting overrun, but here you have 0 sign of fighting. It's like everybody left the town in a second.

I agree but to be fair the resident evil games pick up after the outbreak/collapse has happened. There's of course also budget concerns. Seeing things get overwhelmed would be cool though.
The loneliness of the first half makes sense but then applying that same scarcity of people to the city is a bit jarring. There would still be holdouts, sporadic fighting, and lots of noise.

Dunno. Feel like the loneliness is echoed in every game including RE2 and 3. You bump into randoms here and there the same way Bryan did and more often than not the randoms are central to the plot.

Mainline RE games always have a sense of isolation for the player, regardless of location.

Cry about it. Video games should stay in their own lane. I don't sit down and watch 6 hours of Seinfeld. It's a 22 minute show and it's episodic. It's something you watch before going to sleep. And I don't fucking watch Dexter. That shit looks terrible.
>I assume you watched both, don't even pretend you didn't
You assumed wrong.
>Great, don't use then name then. Remove the name, you corporate cunt, you didn't earn it, you soulless troglodyte
Throwing out words like troglodyte when it doesn't even make sense? Maybe you should put down the video game controller and open a book sometime. I'm not the one using video games to market movies (obviously), but as an adult you should realize that that is going to happen, that it's part of the industry, and realize that a movie is not going to be a video game, you fucking tit.

>>
>>224173995
If you're making a movie about a Racoon city outbreak, use the t-virus monsters and set it in the correct time period. I don't even care if you change the story up, but at least those two things you have to do. This wasn't even about a t-virus, they made up a completely new virus here with new monsters. For what purpose? There's like 30 t-virus monsters they could've used
>>
>>224174090
>Ok? Does the game force you to play for 6 hours in one sitting or something?
No, but I'm sure plenty of you do that. You conveniently left out the next sentence where I said you basically watch something like this before going to sleep - that is, something like Seinfeld is passive entertainment to fill a timeslot. Playing video games are not.
>What the fuck is your argument?
I would say that these things aren't comparable, and I only touched on a few reasons as to why.
>You've on 4chan, I know for a fact you time is worth 0, drop the LARP, you're not busy, you're wasting time on bullshit right now
You've said this how many times now? My response is the same - I'm not using my wasted time as a credential for passing judgement on a movie. I'm not here saying, WELL I SPENT TEN YEARS ON 4CHAN POSTING AND RESIDENT EVIL JUST DOESN'T WORK FOR ME. Sounds like something a loser would say, huh? That's what video game nerds sound like.
>Yeah bro it's so silly of me to expect the movie called RE to have literally anything in common with RE other than the name of the city and the corporation.
Regardless, at the end of the day, you should judge the movie on its own terms. Nobody who isn't a video game playing loser cares about the shit you're whining about.
>I should do better and be better and expect to get absolutely nothing and be happy about it
Clearly, that's not what I'm saying. I'm not happy with the movie and I don't care about the gay video games.

How would you differentiate it enough that audiences will not think the film are set in the continuity of the games? If it’s not readily apparent then you are violating the stipulations made by Capcom in the film rights and your movie will not be made.

Bro. You're reaching. We're clearly speaking in terms of environment. 1-4 You're isolated from your "team" as these are single player games. Whether by hardware limitations or design, this is how the majority of these mainline game play.

I grew up with the OG's and distictly remember the empty mansion and desolate streets of raccoon city. The survivors you bump into on occasion were usually victims shortly after.

I don't know why no one makes a vidya or at least a movie about all the missing/mauled hikers in the Arklay Mountains and people living in the outskirts of Raccoon City in the weeks before the beginning of the story.

You're a broken record. If you want movies to have a slavish devotion to your gay little video games, maybe keep your irrelevant opinion to yourself.
>I'm busy, loser
Have fun playing your games. Video games are art too, y'know!

I can’t wait for the Final Fight movie to just be Sex in the City.

>everything up to the car tunnel
9/10. It takes itself seriously, the aesthetics of every scene are great, the tension and scares are handled tastefully. It's only slightly brought down by the MC talking to himself but this early in the movie you can kind of forgive it.
>car tunnel and the RV
The movie starts getting silly here. What should be an emotional, disturbing situation with an infected little girl is treated almost like a goofy comedy skit.
>everything from when he leaves the car tunnel to the ending
Abysmal dogshit. It's like Cregger just changed his mind about what kind of film he was making and went all in on ironic, self aware comedy. There's literal slapstick everywhere and characters are constantly making irony poisoned redditor comments to each other. The entire ending sequence in the labs felt like an amateur parody comedy meant to mock something.

>what does this movie have to do with Resident Evil
Literally nothing aside from a few namedrops that might as well have been dubbed in with Microsoft Sam for all they had to do with the film. There are some background props from RE4. You are fully justified in killing shills with your greasy bare hands when they aggressively tell you that it's a faithful adaptation of RE, a love letter to the fans, etc.

have you played on a PS2 growing up, there were like 5 games that was were worth your time

Unless he makes another RE movie that is actually what the fans wanted, fuck him. As of now he comes off as a narcissist who just wants to make whatever he wants and expects everyone to lap it up just because he made it, and throws a tantrum when it doesn't happen
>>
>>224166371
He shouldn't take any blame, the direction is fine. His second writer is quite literally the worst in the industry. Everything bad about the movie is stuff that's bad in Rebel Moon and Army of the Dead.
>>
>>224166371
on the technical side the movie is solid, I'm not sure how much creative control he had over the studio when it comes to the final script
>>224175876
>RE movie that is actually what the fans wanted
RE fans don't actually want a movie

The four girls that were in the group I went to see the movie with found him attractive. When he was naked in the garage one of them said "This is the type of body that's attractive, not gymrat fags" which made me kek.

The only fun Resident Evil games are 4, 4 remake, 7, 8 . 9 and Revelations 1 and 2.
The other ones are padded, boring and too hard for no reason.
>>
>>224166371
What the fuck are you talking about? He's pretty much elite tier now, he's had nothing but hits since Barbarian and this movie grossed 400 million dollars and became the highest grossing RE movie ever
>>
>>224176000
Women say a lot of shit, if he wasn't in a movie where he gets to be funny and active none of them would find him attractive
He's very average looking, but so are lots of incels, if you put them in that situation and make a movie out of them those girls would say the same thing
