This was great and most of the criticism comes from a place of pure midwittery or from people who just don't like B exploitation schlock.
Wrong. It just sucked. It's okay to like movies that suck.
>fake 80s imageryAlways pass
>>224168129It was terrible, it had Dan Stevens doing a Guy Pearce in Promotheus for some reason with nowhere near the budget to pull it off and it was not great in Prometheus already. Extremely jarring to watch. Writing wasnt great and all the story elements didnt come together the way they did in The Guest which in hindsight I guess was just luck.>it was intentionalIt was shit
>>224168258Wasn't really trying to go for an 80s vibe at all. >>224168309Dan Stevens was great. The writing was fine but very stripped down, which isn't a bad thing. The Guest was worse.
>>224168129> combat assassins> have glowing eyes so enemy can spot you from far away Fuck off
>>224168337Dan Stevens hammed it up but he looked like a young man in bad geriatric make-up. In the guest they didnt beat super soldier stevens, he spared the two humans he liked/felt protective of compromising on his programming. Here 2026 girlbossing saved the day. The forced bdsm, mdma Machine Gun Kelly super agent was not cool or interesting at all. Maybe expect this writer/director to pull a Wachowski.
>>224168420Really the only complaint I have with the writing is that they needed to add more substance to the mother's relationship with her daughter and have it better inform the climax. I have no problem with the girl bossing if it's meant to cover themes of motherhood. I also liked the cleanup agent just fine, but he should have provided a threat that could nicely fold into the climax. I didn't find The Guest to be particularly interesting and I appreciated Onslaught for knowing what it was and accomplishing what it set out to do in a satisfying way. It's not perfect writing, but it makes up for it with its charm like many B movies do.
>>224168337The poster has fake fold lines and is meant to look like a cheap VHS cover
>>224168129It was 2.5/5. The Guest is 5/5.>>224168337>Wasn't really trying to go for an 80s vibe at all. Are you retarded? Of course it was. Straight from the John Carpenter font and faux Carpenter score.
