So how did you guys like the film?
>>
I think I liked minus one a little bit more but overall it was a very entertaining film though it could have used maybe one or two more scenes with Godzilla himself
>>
>>224172744
Godzilla was the MacGuffin of his own movie.....
>>
>>224172744
I was expecting a whole hour of Japanese post-war drama, like the first one, but somehow this time it was worse. Probably too many children. King Ghidorah was pretty good but the fight was all over the place with the human parts being really bad.
>>
>>224172888
are they still butthurt about the nukes

Yeah I liked it but enjoyed -1 more though.

First movie had Takao, Yukikaze, and Hibiki, while the second one has a G5N Shinzan, A-1 Skyraiders, a jet powered J7W Shinden in the background of one scene, and an upgraded H8K Flying boat so I guess the first movie was the bote otaku movie while the second one gets to be Takashi's plane otaku movie.
>>
>>224172901
Godzilla nuking NY was awesome, I even stand up and cried KINO! in the middle of the IMAX-place.
>>
>>224172744
I liked it, but it was too melodramatic and goofy. Ending was terrible.

Minus one is the superior film, a complete film
>>
>Ameritards turning this into a MV vs Toho pissing contest all across social media
This is why we can't have nice things. You fat retards are so insecure you have to spam your Monster Verse slop all across the web to prove how much "better" you did it. Fucking fags.

Why didn't the guy's machine also attract humans when hooked up to Noriko?

>Minus one was better
This is the general consensus I've heard everywhere and also an opinion I hold.
Some of the drama was so forced and felt like they were just baiting the viewer, the ending in particular.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR RETARDS THAT ARE HANGING OUT IN A DISCUSSION FULL OF SPOILERS
There were too many plot hooks that didn't get fleshed out like the revenge plot or the American scheming.
Also, I am still baffled they tried making the characters feel guilty for trying to kill the surviving monster like the Kaiju weren't pure, spiteful, evil monsters.
I also didn't like how bad Godzillas entrance was, or how abrupt and unceremonious his revival was.
He was stiff even by suit era standards.
He literally fires a shot and tips over like a cardboard cutout.
Also, him staying down that long is baffling considering he didn't even sink in the water when having his head blown off by explosives in the first movie.
Ghidorah shooting straight up for no reason is also lame.

I still liked it overall.
Ghidorah immediately trying to eat Goji, with all the gore was awesome.
>>
>>224173049
All the cells in her body have been replaced with radioactive Godzilla cells, try watching the movie next time, you fucking idiot.
>>
I wish the final act had more monster fight actions. What we got was great but it wasn't enough. 2 more minutes would have been perfect. Also I don't like that Godzilla both started and ended the fight with his beam. Wanted to see him literally rip Ghidorah apart in gory ways before blasting the bits that are still alive and struggling.
>>
>>224172744
it was fine i guess
felt rushed and kinda unnecessary
>>
>>224173116
>dude, plot holes
It's setup for the third movie. This is the middle part of a trilogy. American marketing that said, "There ont be another" is genuinely baffling because in Japanese language interviews the director said this movie is meant to be like the Empire Strikes Back. Would be a weird fucking comparison if it's meant to not setup a third movie.
>>
>>224173119
She is still human you retard.
>>
>>224173174
She's as much human as Godzilla is a T-Rex. Use your fucking head next time, scrub.
>>
>>224173014
Yeah he's kind of a one trick pony with no range.
His female co-star hard carried their shared scenes.
Along with the doc and many other better actors.
His rigid acting worked fine in the first film because he was literally overcoming PTSD.
>>
>>224172744
Im watching it right now. Wild
>>
The best King Ghidorah representation. If only he had more screentime in terms of combat against legitimate human threats like a small army force.
Or dunking on Godzilla a minute longer.
>>
>>224172838
I like this usage of him, it goes with the message of the movie about not using lives as weapons. An additional scene after him waking up would've been nice though, any excuse to hear that roar in theatres.
>>
>>224173150
Not so much plot holes, which I never claimed in my post anywhere.
We just don't get enough detail or payoff for how much time we spend on things.
The revenge plot being solved off screen and the American scheming getting explicit screentime only to be left pretty vague was awkward and clumsy feeling imo
>>
The professor who wanted revenge carried the movie for me
>>
>This theme is used in the first film during the moment when everyone is desperately thinking "come on Godzilla, die already!"
>Re-used in the second film during the moment when everyone is thinking "come on Godzilla, don't die!"
Minus Zero may not have been as good but both films together work so well. Great sequel

him leveling all of Osaka off camera was really frustrating, would've loved to see him use his physgun on a bunch of tanks or pull battleships from the shore. the detail about him being a lightning junkie was funny, makes him looking like a meth head monsterverse ghidorah fitting
>>
Ghidorah mutating into Godzilla and being able to shoot his beam which is a result of Godzilla's radioactive nature that Ghidorah doesn't have bothered me.

This is kinda minor but I feel like there should have been a quick shot of the Iowa-class BB firing before Godzilla was hit by the 16 inch shells, so it doesn't read like 'zilla just randomly getting hit by random artillery shells.
>>
>>224173365
There were several editing decisions made on this film I don't like.
>>
>>224173311
100% agree on the Osaka detail. Would have been kino to see tanks fruitlessly firing at King Ghidorah while suspended in his electromagnetic field before being slammed down to the ground and blown up by debris.
King Ghidorah was addicted to, to quote Monster Hunter; "BIOENERGY"

Shorten the film by 20 minutes by shortening some of the human stuff and entirely get rid of the professor revenge plot. Have him just be a professor that does research. His revenge story felt incredibly tacked on without any significant payoff.

Something about the plot of this film felt more like vignettes of a potential story more than an actual story
>Noriko wants to help Murakami so families will stop being harmed
>Murakami is vengeful and wants to turn Godzilla against the US but Noda pulls him out of it
>Noda feels guilt over making weapons and absolves himself through sacrifice
>Koichi wants to protect his family so he runs from the US government
>They decide to stop shelling godzilla because it defeated ghidorah
These are all well and good but they feel disconnected from each other and the general plot. Noda monologues at the end about stopping the cycle of violence which I suppose could wrap up all of these character threads but it feels underwhelming if so.
>>
>>224173833
>>They decide to stop shelling godzilla because it defeated ghidorah
They decide to stop shelling Godzilla because they believe they can control it.
>>
>>224173579
What exactly do you think the movie was about? You cut out the old man's motivation and desire for revenge and you cut out the heart of the film, both Godzilla Minus One and Zero are about how violence begets more violence. The very first scene in Minus One shows that because they shot at Godzilla, they all died, when they could have just done nothing and Godzilla would have wandered back into the ocean, as the island locals had been living in peace with Godzilla for generations. Every time they try to solve a problem with violence, they make the problem worse. Ghidorah literally becoming whatever it absorbs is a direct representation of, "Be careful not to stare into the abyss, because it will stare back" or whatever the fuck that quote is, the world becomes what we do to it, we shape the world, if we are violent, the world becomes violent, if we choose peace, to build and create and to love and to live, we can create a better world, we can heal the world.

We now have two movies spelling these themes out, and likely a third one on the way, and yet you retarded goyim will never get it. You just want to set the world on fire and eat your own shit like the animals you are.
>>
>>224173432
Well the good news is that Minus Zero looks like it's going to make bank, so they could easily quintuple the budget for the next one any still have it be highly profitable.
>>
>>224173863
There's a reason why capeshit is so popular. You just beat the bad guys.
>>
>>224173725
It was terrible. The resolution to it was "I changed my mind off-screen". Wow truly brilliant!

>>224173863
The old man was not the heart of the film lmao. The family from Minus One was the heart. The old man served to include a revenge aspect. They just did a shit job of it.
>>
>>224173864
Godzilla Plus One? Where they don't allow Godzilla to go to his kinoplex alone so he tries to wake up Mothra to come with him?
>>
>>224173922
>Godzilla Plus One
It would actually be Godzilla Minus -1
>>
I almost started screaming when they were going to leave the kid at the orphanage. That's a pretty good range of emotion to get out of me.
>>
>>224173897
Then these movies aren't for you because the whole point is you can't beat Godzilla like you can't beat a nuclear bomb. He doesn't go away forever, he exists, he's part of the world, you don't get to punch out death and despair and natural disasters. Spider-Man can't stop 9/11 or Hurricane Katrina, Godzilla can't be stopped by even blowing him up like they did at the end of the first movie, he is a cosmic force beyond humanity that represents the things beyond our control. Minus Zero is the most explicit Godzilla movie in attempting to spell out these themes and have a serious conversation about them and yet every retard I see discussing the movie is talking about how the fight scenes were too short and they should have cut out the old man plot and that they prefer Shin Godzilla because they liked the office politics which are relatable to their faggot ass meaningless cubicle cattle lives. I despise the masses, you deserve to be stomped by Godzilla.

About the Americans wanting to use his research to control Godzilla? How does that play into the old guy's desire for revenge against America?
>>
>>224173996
Retard. In the first Godzilla movie they literally alude to the fact that he won't be the only monster like that out there. They say that in dialogue, they beat him in the movie because that's what audiences need to see happen to walk out of the theater happy but every fucking movie alludes to the fact that this is now a reality that the world and humanity must contend with and that it's never going away. Any momentary triumph over Godzilla is but a disaster managed, there will be more disasters and humanity ought not to think they can avoid them.

Humanity must humble itself and learn to coexist with Godzilla. Have fun seething at the third movie when all of this is made even more obvious for stupid cows like you.

He can now trick the Americans into drawing Godzilla or another giant monster to America and actually have it wreck havok. Before he had no way of actually getting Godzilla to America, you think his dream of flying that one plane all the way from Japan to New York city with no way of refueling it along the way was his actual plan? He is playing both sides so he can finally get his revenge. In all likelihood the story about having his mind changed was totally fabricated and no one can call him out on it because the other guy is dead.

It was anticlimatic and a let down, IMO they could have solved it with one simple change, when the tell the main character to wake up Godzilla, before he can do anything you should hear Godzilla roar and then everyone is like, "He's already awake" and you see Godzilla standing up out of the rubble and his theme plays and you get maybe 30 more seconds of Godzilla. Just that would have made people happy, instead it feels too short and poorly edited.

Ghidorah in this movie is basically The Thing, he's a shapeshifting alien blob that steals DNA from animals he eats, at the end of the movie he is turning into a Godzilla like creature after eating Godzillas arm, he then tries to shoot the atomic beam back at Godzilla, but gets his ass incinerated first. He's dead. If they want to do another Ghidorah it will be because they want to do an alien invasion movie and they will have more meteorites landing. As it stands, there is nothing in the movie that suggests Ghidorah will be in the third one. Everything points to the third one having an original monster in America, as the director has said multiple times that if he gets to make a third movie he will be creating a new monster and he will be setting large portions of the movie in America.

It blows my mind that people can watch a movie like this, which has loads of setup for the third movie, very clearly and very directly with the Major Gilbert character, the entire dream sequence about New York. And yet people still can't figure out where this story is heading.

don't listen to those faggots, watch all of them in chrono order.

Every single godzilla movie that introduces a new monster has less godzilla in it. it's just the way it is.

Dios mio... el kaiju de las americas

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. It's not that they couldn't write that Ghidorah survived, it's that they didn't and there's nothing in the movie that implies that or suggests it. Not a single detail, musical key, etc. Ghidorah is dead, he surved his function in the story, the next movie will be about the Americans trying to use Godzilla and getting humbled, "So many more eyes to open." Ghidorah does not actually matter, he was just a plot device to bring Godzilla back and set the ball rolling with the nuclear proliferation cold war metaphor.
>>
>>224175140
>Ghidorah [...] was just a plot device to bring Godzilla back
But Godzilla just comes back in a completely unrelated way to Ghidorah?

They can get away with it by saying it's an artistic choice kek

The original Godzilla movies went Godzilla, Raids Again, and then King Kong vs Godzilla. What if the original monster in America is a type of Big Foot creature to take the place of Kong?

I'm thankful for all the solo Ghidorah, but the movie was WAY too long, and the end fight was WAY too short and fucking SUCKED

and Ghidorah was just blasted away to land off-screen and we have no idea what happened to him? wtf? Seriously wtf was that? Left the theater fucking annoyed...
>>
>>224175454
Why does every nigger want Biolante? Literally a giant plant with the soul of some dead Japanese girl. Hedorah mogs her.
>>
>>224172744
So they went right back to the "human parts are over dramatized and dull can we just get to the monster fights"
Literal daytime soap opera tier acting, how the fuck is it the same director as the first

It is going to be Gamera because nobody remembers Gamera so they can pass him off as a new monster.

That would actually be in line with King Kong vs Godzilla, this time it's Gamera instead of Kong. I wonder how people would react to that, though.

>>224175454
if it was monsterverse I'd agree but we haven't seen a new monster in a Japanese Godzilla movie in a long time

>we are saying goodbye tiny girl
>everyone cries while saying goodbye
>cut to them happy on a motorcycle with the child they just said they were going to leave at the orphanage

A tad weaker than the previous but still an incredible film. The scene with Godzilla emerging and Ghidorah evolving was 10/10 scene of the year

I liked that it was basically a King Ghidorah movie and he was the best he's been in decades.

The Ghidorah theme should be a permanent theme for Ghidorah for the rest of time

Good thing that building they were standing on had plot armor from multiple atomic blasts

Yeah I thought the same thing. That clock tower has to be built of adamantium or something because it survived not just this movie, but the previous movie as well.

I get the feeling they ran out of money and had to reuse sets and filming locations.

I like how it grew multiple lightning rods on its back and started to actually feed on electricity. Their plan literally gave Ghidorah an electricity fetish.

I feel like the fuel air bomb scene was a rewrite. Originally it appears Yamazaki wanted the bomb to actually be an American trick to dose Ghidorah with a mutagen, but that probably got cut by CIA censors because it made it too obvious the film is anti-American.
>SCHIZO
The CIA has embedded agents in film boards around the globe who censor anti-American plotlines. This is attested to by numerous former agents.
