ZenMarket has changed its policy regarding packages' storage. Now they'll automatically dispose your already paid packages after 90 days when they could simply charge you for every extra day of storage. It's very annoying considering there may be cases when you are waiting for some items to be released while your previously purchased items hit the limit of free storage days but paying for a few days of storage would still be cheaper than paying for two separated shipments.https://zenmarket.jp/en/blog/post/15571/disposal-of-items-after-90-days
Anyone found an effective storage container solutions for books in the US? I am running out of shelves. Japan sells inexpensive plastic containers that are perfect fits for manga but the import cost makes it too expensive and there's no equivalent I can find locally. The only useful thing I've found to store things are BCW comic bins which fit most of my yuri doujinshi.>>4438273I'm surprised they don't just automatically force it to be shipped instead, seems like a wasteful choice to throw it out. 90 days seems pretty generous though, I thought most only gave about a month of storage. I don't have the patience to order yuri and wait 90 days + shipping time to get anything though.
>>4438273>When they could simply charge you for every extra day of storageThey already do that, 90 is simply the extension limit>>4438397>I thought most only gave about a month of storageFromjapan recently increased it to 60 days (up from 45), but they don't offer extensions.Buyee is only 30, but they offer paid extensions up to 90 days total ($1-$3 a day depending on weight, which is expensive). Although the day spent consolidating packages doesn't count towards that, so i used to consolidate items one-by-one to artificially lengthen the storage time; before i just switched to a different proxy because others offered much better shipping.Zen market is 60 days, but with paid extensions can last until 90 total days>I'm surprised they don't just automatically force it to be shipped instead, seems like a wasteful choice to throw it outaccording to their update the other person linked, it seemed like they just got tired of arguing with customers after the max-extension period was hit. Constantly having to negotiate with customers on a case-by-case basis sounds like a pain in the ass, so i don't blame them for this.Shipping also isn't paid for until you're ready to ship it out, so i don't think it's possible to "force it to be shipped" either, but then again i haven't used zenmarket in a hot minute (i know it's the case with the other two though)
>>4438491>They already do that, 90 is simply the extension limitI don't see any mention of pay-per-store on that page.I do agree it's annoying having to deal with customers one by one but>a reminder after 75 days and nothing after that>cancellation of orders already paid>cancellation feeI don't know how many people buy stuff and then forget about it but for me this is unacceptable. Not that I will ever leave my stuff in other people hands for so long.
What's currently the best (cheapest) proxy anyway (preferably that uses DHL)?I'm going to place an order soon and I want to hear some opinions.ZenMarket charges 500 yen for item but has free consolidation. Anything better than that?
>>4438728>ZenMarket charges 500 yen for item but has free consolidation. Anything better than that?>DHLthat's about the standard now.Buyee is 300 yen per itemzen market and fromjapan are 500 yen per itemall have free consolidation (buyee made them free like a year ago), and all offer DHLdespite the fee being cheaper on buyee, you'll pay for that with the shipping and shorter storage time.i use fromjapan because i don't like zenmarkets system of depositing funds, but either one is fine. They also frequently do campaigns like '10% on orders from mercari/rakuten/etc', so it might be best to wait for a promotion. >>4438725they explain it on their site. 60 days free, with each extra day being charged until you reach 90 days storage.>I don't know how many people buy stuff and then forget about it but for me this is unacceptablei don't think it's unreasonable. They tried the good will method, and too many people abused the system, having them hold onto the packages for an undisclosed amount of time, sometimes months past due. Fromjapan does the same thing of discarding the order after the storage period is up. Disposing of items isn't free and wastes their time and resources, so it's pretty reasonable to have a fee for that. Could be worse, amiami usually bans your entire account from using your services ever again if you cancel a single order.More reminders that your storage time is running out would be nice, (not sure why they dont just send one 3 days before too) but other than that, i don't see much issue with it.
>>4438973also both fromjapan and buyee have disposal fees for individual items too, for when you manually wanted to remove an item from your account instead of shipping it. it only makes sense for this to extend to items that exceed the storage limit too. It can also have an additional fee depending on the size/type of item disposed
>>4438728https://www.goody-japan.com/en/help/commision#m02Goody-Japan has a per order fee if you order multiple items from the same shop. They keep your orders for up to 60 days and you can choose between multiple shipping methods. Cheapest air usually turns out to be UPS for me, but you can explicitly choose DHL as well. They even handle timed campaigns like Melonbooks often have where you accumulate points with your order and can spend them later.
>>4438977>>4439818Thank you, I'll give a look to these alternatives.Reletad to this, what would you recommend to buy that's not on Amazon? I'd like some doujinshi 総集編.
>>4439818>Goody-Japan has a per order fee if you order multiple items from the same shopi've actually been meaning to use a service like this for when i buy a bunch of cheaper items. Is it only for specific stores, or can i just buy a bunch of items from say CDjapan/mandarake/surugaya and only pay one service fee as long as it's only from one store?Could be good value, even if the service fee is still higher than average. Also i might be retarded, but they have a 4% payment receiving fee, and i'm not entirely sure what that is, or if other proxies have it. is it in reference to the fee paypal takes out?
>>4441031As far as I can tell, if they have to make multiple online carts and payments, then they'll count them as separate orders. The 4% is added on top of the total item price, total domestic shipping, total per-order fees and international shipping. If all of those were to add up to 10000 yen, they would add another 400 yen to your invoice.
https://twitter.com/yuri_fair/status/1942524065463296135They keep advertising merch but everything on the site is sold out.
>>4444962Yuriten stuff usually opens for online shopping once a year around christmas. These look like they are just announcements for pop up shops at local stores. There should be a new online event starting in a few months.
>>4441242>The 4% is added on top of the total item price, total domestic shipping, total per-order fees and international shippingi get how it's calculated, but i was moreso wondering what it's for exactly.

Amazon JP sometimes doesn't show me certain more "adult" Kindle manga such as e.g.https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B07YX26HQLI can see it if I'm not logged in and under a Japanese VPN, but I get a 404 when I'm logged in even though my account is set to Japan and my default address is set to Japan and I'm using a VPN. What should I do?
>>4448267stop using amazon
>>4448324I use Kobo for most of the stuff but some things are only available on Kindle.
>>4448326That one is available on Kobo.
>>4448359That one is, but I've seen a lot of stuff on e.g. Kindle Unlimited yuri lists that's not...
>>4448267It's a well known problem that has been brought up a lot of times if you follow these threads.Probably the results of a deal with Visa and Mastercard. While other stores have been completely cut off following the rejection of removing adult contents, the world wide number one store had the contractual power to keep its adult stuff by simply hiding it from non-japanese IPs.

I spent the last week going through all my yuri stuff partly to try and clean up and organize, but also just to enjoy taking the time to look through it all again. It is incredible how many amazing pieces of art have been made over the years. Also amazing how much yuri collects over the years. Having big box full of yuri tapestries and other yuri merch makes me sad at how difficult it is to properly appreciate it all without an art gallery sized building to display it in.
>>4450289>properly appreciate it all without an art gallery sized building to display it inAmen, sis. I am desperately thinking about a way to move stuff around to make a yuri appreciation corner or even move into a bigger apartment so it can get the appropriate treatment it deserves.
Did Amazon get stricter on geolocking shit? I haven't bought anything in a few months and now when I tried I got this. I've always bought my yuri for kindle on amazon.com because we get no kindle versions for anything ever in the EU.
Got some yuri Kickstarter in today. Came out super good looking
>>4452331The fact that it's such a pain in the ass to get Kindle versions of anything from Amazon JP is why I still do not have a Kindle.Maybe .com also became ASS now.I'd be technically interested, but my god. Can I have a platform like Steam where publishers can just put their shit on and it can be gotten globally regardless of language.

>>4452540Awesome, hopefully it isn't too much more than 30k yen. I was hoping they would choose the akuma no riddle wedding artwork that was used to promote the 10th anniversary since it came out the same time when the figure was first announced, but this looks great too.

Just a heads up you can now pay with VISA/Mastercard on Melonbooks through Rakutenpay. Items with explicit titles will get rejected though, it's unrelated to if the item is r-18 on melon or not.
>>4453561>you can now pay with VISA/MastercardBut avoid supporting that shit whenever you can.
>>4453623>whenever you can.As if people have choice.
US de minimis exemption just got fast tracked to the end of August 2025 instead of 2027 for all countries. Japan is currently at 15% tariffs so expect charge additions from the carrier anywhere from 15% to 80-200$ per item (if undeclared) plus carrier fees for collection based on the current reports. This is going to absolutely fuck my ability to import all the yuri goods I usually buy every month.
I don't usually buy yuri plushies because they're hard to get or expensive but I kind of want these.
Does a doujinshi being sold out generally means you'll never get it again? These look beautiful but I'd much rather have it as a set
>>4461041Melon restock sounds unlikely (though not impossible), but the missing ones could pop up on surugaya/bookoff/mercari/yahoo so you'd have to keep checking.
>>4453856To be fair, you had it really well for a long time, we've been paying eye-gouging levels of VAT for decades this side of the pond.
>>4461041The reason why I barely get any doujinshi (other than the cost/pages ratio and the difficulty to get them).I was putting in order my stuff and I've just realized I got a sequel without getting the original one because it didn't show up in the research since it was sold out. As a collector, this sucks a lot.
>>4461041It depends on the author, short answer here is no. Long answer is 99% of authors never reprint their doujinshi and only consign the first print run or leftover stock from events to stores because it is expensive for them to print let's say 100 more books and then pay a consignment fee for storage. The small sales trickling in wouldn't be worth it. Some of the bigger authors regularly restock or use a print on demand service to keep it in perpetual waves of restocks. Itou isn't one of those authors even though I suspect she is at a level where these could sustain more long term sales. I own 95% of itou's books (except for the really old moomin and zelda stuff and that one elusive r18 copy book that was handed out at an event) and I can say she has never restocked in the last few years that I have ever seen. The witch and familiar series is not that rare compared to her older stuff so it would be easy enough to pick up the set used. Ggenerally used doujinshi like this are read only once and in nearly new condition so you wouldn't even really notice a difference.>>4461064Doujinshi are where the magic is though. I love the publisher printed stuff too, but dounjinshi are something special. It does hurt to miss one though especially for some of my favorite authors.
>>4461112>Doujinshi are where the magic isWhat's different from one-shots in anthologies? There are good and bad ones and series will always be better because they have more pages to elaborate stories and relationships and more pages dedicated to gay scenes in general. I hate when I read a bad one-shot because it only feels like a waste of time, but I also hate when the one-shot is good because it makes me want more but there's no more.
>>4461112I guess I'll go down this rabbithole, just for this set. I'm not even into oneeloli either...
>>4461122It is the difference between getting an art book showing photographs of the pieces hanging in the gallery, versus getting the actual canvas rolled up and sent to you instead. Not every single one I buy is like this, and it 100% is not cost effective compared to mass market tankoban pricing, but there is no better feeling than discovering a rare yuri work where their love for yuri is tangible.
>>4461112>I own 95% of itou's booksPic?
>>4461112>Doujinshi are where the magic is thoughI just wish more artists would release digital versions. It's 2025 and many creators are still incredibly averse to that.
>>4461124>oneeloliI don't think Witch and Familiar is going that route. It's adult x adult and child x child. I know, crazy.
>>4461619My storage system for yuri doujinshi is a stack of unsorted boxes where I just put whatever I get in without organizing it at all and I don't feel like digging to find each one right now. I have been toying around with the idea of setting up a camera and taking curated pictures of a few select yuri goods to share all the amazing yuri I've gathered over the years, but then I realize that that is essentially just the /u/ version of a yuri lifestyle goals insta, so I never do it.>>4461626The worst is when an author releases a miniscule single print run of a physical-only and I miss buying it. Lost media yuri is tragic.

Both story and art are terrible, I wish Yuri Hime would use their resources better. Maybe I'll wait until it'll be inevitably and deservedly axed. For Bad Girl's artbook I'm going to wait for scans to check if it's worth it or if it's just solo illustrations.

>>4463248It's so cute but I wish you didn't show me that. I already have too many. I just found a giant stack of yuri acrylics I forgot I even had in the back of my closet. I desperately need this one though, I love this series.
>>4453856JapanPost suspended all mail to the US due to the tariff change happening on the 29th. Private shippers like DHL Express, UPS, Fedex and maybe others will still take packages, but I am reading horror stories about how they treat each line item as its own carrier fee or treat 1 yen as 1 dollar and tariff something for $1000 accidentally so it is probably better to wait as long as possible to find out what ends up as the safest option.
>>4461041Sometimes they get reprinted(especially a series), but generally yeah. Good chance you'll only get it second hand after that point.
>>4453561>Items with explicit titles will get rejected though,Haven't had a problem yet and I got quite a few R18 books this time, including Domestic Prostitution and the new peachpulsar one.
>>4463985Seems to be more of an exclusivity deal problem, because I had to try around just last week until I found out it let me use rakuten for homura subarus newest doujin, but not for Shuukura.
>>4463909How long until they start opening all the mail and trying to send people to prison for "child porn" (aka any R18 content)?
>>4453561I may have to try this since forwarders let you declare whatever you want as the value of a shipment, so I could undervalue it and save on tariffs.>>4464021There has always been a chance something can be inspected when it arrives at customs locations but US gets 4 million packages per day so the chance is tiny, and probably getting smaller because these changes are forcing more busywork for the same number of people. Also cartoons are still legal unlike canada or europe so not as much risk there regardless.
>>4464038>Also cartoons are still legal unlike canada or europe so not as much risk there regardless.Americans are amusingly delusional about this.US states like Texas have laws explicitly criminalising loli, meanwhile its explicitly legal and protected as art under EU law.
I'm moving some yuri around and felt like trying to take a picture to illustrate how much yuri fills the world every day. This is only about half a box of yuri doujinshi in front of a few switch games I stood up for perspective. They are extremely heavy compared to tankoban, and I currently have 9 boxes of yuri doujinshi so moving them around to look for specific ones I want to read is a pain since there is no easy way to categorize and sort them.
>>4464148I'm fond of seeing these. You are the reason someone can eat because of yuri. Thanks you for existing.
>>4464148Didn't really want to spend time figuring out how to take a better picture so I just grabbed a few I was setting aside.

>>4464172I have a room lined with bookcases that is starting to literally overflow with yuri. Never thought having too much yuri would be a problem but here I am. It doesn't help that I buy duplicates too often to try and get all the bookstore exclusives for specific authors. I'm contending with the thought of having to get rid of some precious yuri eventually to make room. I don't think my local library will take them but I can't stomach the idea of throwing them out.>>4464173Ever Maiden. I have the original PC copy already but the switch copy was only $13 and I was importing a ton of other switch games to use on my switch2 so I threw it in the order for fun. Japan doesn't appear to keep switch physical prices high so almost everything you could think of is easy to find for 3000 yen or less for some reason. Really sucks that it is becoming harder to take advantage of the good prices now.
>>4464389>Drowning in yuriThe stuff of legends. How about reselling them or gifting them? Putting them up online as a gift. It's definitely better than to throw them away.
>>4464389>I buy duplicates too often to try and get all the bookstore exclusives for specific authorsRelatable. I think I have about 50+ KimiShinu copies stored somewhere.
>>4464394I was thinking selling them all in one lot to make it easier but I'm not sure who would want random books since I wouldn't always have complete series of duplicates. >>4464389>I don't think my local library will take them but I can't stomach the idea of throwing them out.I don’t know where you live but the 2 local libraries I go to regularly have plenty of Yuri manga. >>4444962It looks like yuriten store stocked stuff online but its all the same stuff from last year so I get to save some money this time.
In the end I used Goody Japan for my proxy order this year.Starting from the end, well, it did its job since I got my stuff. 166 € of goods + 245 € of shipment/fees.I chose it because the fee per order instead of the fee per item other sites have, anyway I don't understand why it isn't a fixed fee but it increases depending from the total amount of the items' price. They make you list all the item from a single store (it's nice they count all the used items from Amazon as a single order despite being sold from different sellers) and you have to pay immediately the total amount of the items for the order to be placed, so you don't know how much it will cost you for the shipment and the fee. ZenMarket before of accepting the order checks the items, add the cost of the shipment and the fee and it shows you the total amount so you know how much it will cost before of paying, but with Goody Japan you may have bad surprises if sellers charge you a crazy amount for the local shipment. After you place the order you receive a confirmation email but you don't get any update on your order, like if it's been bought or if it's been shipped, you only see when it finally gets received (it took a whole week).I tried to enquiry them using the form on their site and I got no answer while ZenMarket replies in a few hours.
>>4466182When everything was received I applied for the international shipping. There are a few options like insurance and type of packaging (you can't insure it if you choose light package) but once again they won't show you the cost of the options you choose and once you choose you can't change it so you have to accept blindly. They also applied a "payment receiving fee" in addition to the order fee.I searched if there was a field to add my tax number for the custom but there wasn't and I thought it wasn't a problem since DHL will ask for it via email anyway when the shipment will depart, but one day after I applied for the shipment I received a mail from Goody Japan telling me that the tax number is required and that they can't proceed with the shipment until I communicate it. Well, if it's required why is there no field for it? Anyway I give it to them but it costed a couple of days of waiting before the package was shipped. It was a solid package and everything was wrapped in bubble wrap, no complaint there. So in the end as a service ZenMarket is definitely better, but Goody Japan is the only way to go when you have to buy multiple items from the same store. I could finally buy a bunch of doujinshi from melonbooks.

>>4466182>>4466183245 for shipping and fees is really high for only 166 of yuri, why was shipping so much higher than the cost? I import about 10 boxes per year and am expecting this is going to cost me at least an additional $1500-2000 because of this shit.
This is one of the boxes I use to keep all my yuri doujinshi. I just got a few more in so now I have about 10 just like this one completely jammed full of yuri. I pulled one out at random for the picture since there is sadly no good way to showcase all the covers at the same time without tipping the whole box over onto the floor. I used to keep a list of titles but forgot to keep up at some point so now I'm 1000 titles behind, but I have an old tablet I could repurpose so that would be an easy project for a rainy day.>>4466428I found one the other day >>4464150 and also spotted a few of the others but I haven't made a concerted effort to collect them all out of the different boxes. I am setting them aside now so I'll do it eventually once they're all together and make a nice collage out of it. I need to stop putting down everything without considering how to sort it since it causes a lot of chaotic yuri shelves as you can see. It's way worse for the doujinshi since they just go in a box. I'm disassembling a shelf and have been shifting shelves around, but I'm going to group everything up in a more visually pleasing way at some point.
>>4466320I always say proxy and forwarders are too expensive but this thread won't listen. This was last year >>4284366 see the replies.Out of the 245 €:>€ 12 for local shipping>€ 23 for order fees>€ 194 for international shipping>€ 16 for "payment receiving fee"And then there are 26 € for custom taxes.Sure I could save something (I don't know how much because, like I said, it didn't show you the costs before of choosing) in the international shipping, but I didn't want to take risks by choosing the light package and no insurance and I also want to have full control of my package, I want to know where it is, all the custom procedures done, and be sure to get it in 3 days. I don't want to go back to 15 years ago when I used to buy from cdJapan without the courier shipping when it took one month to receive a package without knowing where it was and when it would arrive and then I had to go to the post office myself to get it because there were the custom taxes to pay on delivery.
>>4466626The fees aren't great but that shipping fee is outrageous. I recently found an old honto receipt tucked away behind a book and got to relive the memory of shipping yuri for under 2000 yen with SAL. For only 166 of goods your box must have been heavy as bricks. Were you getting your yuri minted with solid gold?
>>4466226What type of items do you have? I've been reading more about this and books are completely exempt from all duties (books were always 0% even above $800) and also exempt from all reciprocal tariffs (would be 15% for japan otherwise) under Annex II>https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/Annex-II.pdfAcrylics are also on the list, so standees are surprisingly also exempt. Probably going to have to fight the carrier if they misclassify it but it may be possible to only ship the books and exempt items without the tariff, then send other things like figures and tapestries in a separate box so they don't try to apply a blanket 15% to everything.
>>4466818>what type of items do you have?mostly manga and acrylics stands/keychains, with some plushes and a nendo>books are completely exempt>acrylics are also on that listGame changing if true. I knew about educational items being exempt but not about that. >it may be possible to only ship the exempt itemsThat is an option, so i can try that. thankfully i still have an extra 15 days of storage left. unfortunately ECMS isnt available and that was always my go-to
>>4466626I live in the states, so i dont know how different it is for Euros but:>€ 194 for international shippinginsane price. Are they like buyee where they don't unpack your stuff before throwing it into a box twice as big as it should be with half of it filled with bubble cushions? i cut my shipping price by over a third by switching proxies>€ 23 for order feesmost places charge 300-500yen per item which isn't THAT bad, unless you're buying a bunch of cheap items like cards. >€ 12 for local shippingno real way around that>€ 16 for "payment receiving fee"literally no idea what this is. never been charged for it beforeI've never had to pay more than ~$120 for shipping, even during the height of my buyfagging with B2 posters and multiple scale figures per shipment
>>4466828Ok I did a lot more reading and am confident in what the current rates most likely fall under for each item type I'd buy:>BooksHTS 9503.00.00 covers all printed material (tankoban, LN, doujins, leaflets, etc). 0% duty and 0% reciprocal tariff. This means it will be completely exempt based on the current documentation, as long as the carrier and CBP don't fuck it up.>TapestriesHTS 6304.93.00 appears to cover printed tapestries although there are other designation depending on how it is woven/printed. Unfortunately for polyester printed art it is an 11.4% duty plus the 15% reciprocal tariff, so 26.4%. Since I usually get these bundled with books, I'd be paying the 26.4% on the price of the book and the tapestry combined rather than just the tapestry which sucks. Unless it is a really unique one I think I am done buying tapestries.>AcrylicsI initially thought it was exempt because 39069050 Acrylic polymers is listed in the the exemption Annex II file, but that only covers raw material forms apparently. 3926.40.00 covers plastic toys/ornaments and has a 5.3% duty, so 20.3% total. This sucks because I am a fiend for acrylic stands and I don't want to miss out on any of my favorite author's art.>Figures/Statues3926.40.00 covers figures and has a 5.3% duty +15% = 20.3% total, however if you classify it under 9503.00.00 for action figures/toys it is 0%+15%=15% total. I'm not sure how they would even enforce misclassifying the item in this case.>Physical Games8523.49.40.00 covers all disc/cartridge based software media, and has a 0% duty, so 15% total. >Music8523.49.10.00 covers music and is also 0%, so 15% total.
>>4466752It's always like that.Last year's Blackship's one was 271 €.ZenMarket earlier this year for Towa Tsugai 2 (RIP SasaKoi butai) and AyaHiro's box that Amazon didn't ship abroad for no reason was 69 €.Amazon is 60/70 € every month for the monthly releases.>>4466834>they don't unpackNo, they were unpacked and wrapped in bubble wrap. The package wasn't that much bigger than the content.>>4466834>300-500yen per item which isn't THAT badIt is definitely bad for buying manga and doujinshi.>payment receiving feeAn anon mentioned it before>>4441031>>4441242>>4445160
