Previous Thread>>4449414>Main places to read fics:https://archiveofourown.org/https://www.fanfiction.net/>An ancient archive of fics compiled and shared by a kind anon (note that this is not a curated collection, just a very large archive of works)https://mega.nz/#F!oaphAAaZ!6FnZFfH2f-Vx5d9A47pSow(this link is still down, truly these are our darkest days)Post links to fics and discuss them and fanfiction in general. Link fics you like, your own stuff, it's all good as long as it's yuri.
Following a very minor pairing is rough because any new fic feels amazing but also is terrifying because if the author stops updating you go back to having literally nothing to read.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/32611219/chapters/80895433This is good. There's not a lot of touhou fic writers anymore who really try to write romance rooted in the setting anymore, there's way more mindless fluff. But this one targets what I'm looking for well.
https://archiveofourown.org/works/43372042/chapters/109027072It's not the most well written story ever, there's no sex, and I don't even watch vtubers, but this is somehow my personal favorite fic I've read this year. It just hit right in the sweet spot. Very cute.
>>4489602>Kaguya/Reisenholy crackBut I guess I'll check it out.
>>4489495I find a fanfiction about my favorite Yuri pairing from the 2000s and it's full of modern references.
>>4491735The best is when it's something like a strawberry panic fic and everyone has smartphones.
>re: Alone, TogetherThe chapter where Shego starts talking about her dad weirded me the hell out, why did the author write this and why is everyone praising it? Closed the chapter so fast. I don't want to keep reading. But the summary was already a red flag, so it's my fault for ignoring it.
>>4491989The romance is decent when you look past the stuff tied to Kim's setting. People are desperate for super heroine/villainess yuri and it's like one of the only decent ones and the reason it works is because they are removed from the Kim Possible setting mostly which tends to be insufferable and not mature enough for a prolonged yuri fic. I found the fic and characters get worst the moment they are no longer 'Alone Together'. It was still readable and it's near the end so I suffered through it for the happy ending.magnetism is another example of what I mean - the stuff with KiGo there is solid in the beginning when it's mostly Kim and Shego interacting but every other character and plot forcing their way gets in the way of what the readers are there for which is KiGo. You are trying to get a mature romance from a children's cartoon and it just struggles the moment you don't have them 'alone together' anymore.I enjoyed the beginning of And You and I and it goes right off a cliff the moment the two of them stop interacting as much 3 chapters in and the other characters force their way in. I'm here to watch two girls flirt, seduce, fight, and fuck each other. Sometimes all the same time.I think this is why I never got into the Supercorp ship - Lena can't go hand to hand with Supergirl ever. Where as if Kim ever gets even a mild powerup Shego just gets even hornier since now she can go all out but otherwise can still get off to just how competent Kim is in a fight.
>>4492079>I'm here to watch two girls flirt, seduce, fight, and fuck each otherMe too. Any reccs?
>>4491989>why was a hero-turned-villain character being humanized given a catalyst for having betrayed her seemingly good family and turned to villainyAnon.>>4492079>Lena can't go hand to hand with Supergirl ever. Where as if Kim..There are fics where they are relatively on par. The ones where Lena builds a lex-style suit to be a vigilante or try for peace through domination or gets harun-el'd into being a pseudo Kryptonian. The AU ones where she's a vampire or fae, or there's different context, like the ones set in the harry potter universe.Power scaling isn't the problem here though; you're looking for a foeyay villain and hero setup in a ship whose basic form has no actual villain and doesn't depict them as really being foes. They aren't similar ships to begin with.
>get comment on a twincest fic expressing their disapprovalI think I'm just going to turn off comments from now on.
>>4492288Reply with a simple "lol" and nothing else ever again. It will make them mad, which is funny.
>>4492288Don't let one shithead discourage you. It's your story and if they don't like it, they can kindly fuck off. Also, you miss the nice comments.
>>4492288Ironically that exact attitude is a large part of what makes incest shipping so good.

>>4491735>>4492531Do other people actually care about this? I would understand being annoyed about anachronisms if the fic was set in the 60s or 70s, but I feel like the modern high school setting is just "modern high school" and it doesn't really make any difference if its 2000s or 2010s. Especially if the canon has magic in it to begin with. I certainly am not going to care or even notice if an author accidentally includes smartphones in a fic from a show that came out in the flip phone era.
>>4494114I don't care about it. Media written to be contemporary becoming inadvertently historical over time isn't what I need from fic. Like, Batman and Superman aren't still living in the mid 1900s.
These threads and most ao3 f/f fandoms feel dead these days.
>>4494143It's over, the ao3 trannyshitters won. F/F doesnt even exist as a searchable category anymore unless you filter specifically by tags that may or may not be included anyway.
>>4494143Can't speak for f/f fandom as a whole, but I think /u/ as a whole, including these threads obviously, became way slower after 4chan came back online after the april hack.
>>4494143If you want to find active AO3 fandoms, you should ask "what are zoomers on twitter into?" Hololive, Mihoyo, Project Sekai, K-Pop, etc. all have active F/F fandoms. They're all fucking awful, but at least they're active.>>4494157Using AO3 without the blacklist userscript is masochism
>>4494143Caitvi got like 10,000 fics this year. Most of the regular long-standing fandoms got a few hundred, Wenclair, Togachako, the House of the Dragon ship, and that random Harry and Luna's moms ship that showed up last year all got a thousand or so, there were a bunch of new Gelphie fics, Agatha/Rio got like 4,000. Lightcannon or whatever got a fair number. Don't be dramatic, these threads are always slow.>>4494157You also stop being dramatic. Outside of a handful of fandoms this isn't really a problem. Most of the time I don't even make use of the exclusion filter and it's still a rarity to run into. Obviously still shitty when it it's untagged and shows up out of nowhere, but it's not a common thing.
I love unhinged AUs so much. Like yeah make Elsa a German soldier and Anna British, make Kamishirasawa Keine a socialist, make Taylor Hebert a time traveling overlord or whatever. I'm all for it. Especially when the story is so intricate you can tell the author has spent years obsessing over the subject.
Must say I am very surprised that KPDH's poly pairing is almost twice as popular as the main het (semi canon) pairing on AO3.

I've been writing my fanfic, it's my first ever one, but the problem is that I fear that em dashes will make people think I'm using AI...
>>4494984Just start the story with your main character monologuing about her favorite racial slurs, then the readers can be sure ChatGPT didn't write it. But in seriousness, it's not worth worrying about. AI doesn't own em dashes.
>>4494986I'll keep that in mind then. I'm a bit worried that people won't like it because im a big fan of slow burn and so my main characters don't even meet until the third chapter in the fanfic. The first two chapters are just establishing one of the characters and her history.
>>4494987It's your fanfic, you can write it however you want, if you like slow burn and buildup then do that, don't forget there are fanfics longer than the Bible out there.
I hate these artstation scammers. Makes me want to delete any generic-sounding guest comment before they start asking for my discord.
>>4494993Thank you. You give me a lot of confidence to finish
>>4494157I exclude all variations of futa, trans, gp whatever and there are STILL fics with troonery that manage to slip through. Hate it
>>4494984I find this funny because if fandoms weren't so extremist in their views, more people would be willing to admit their use of AI, tagging it properly, resulting in people who want to avoid it being able to do so effectively... and writers not having to 'live in fear' of being accused.I was reading a couple of Wenclair fics which I'm pretty sure were written with AI... the dialogue is very telling and the constant repetition is kind of wild. I don't have much experience with GPT but with Claude it has a certain 'pattern', if you will, for its writing if you don't give any futher instructions. And there are levels to AI use. You can, for example, just ask it to check for grammar errors. You can ask it what it thinks you should improve and you yourself write it again. You can ask it to write everything (the one I think is the worst use if not tagged).Don't be afraid to write, use modern tools at your disposal or not. I would say remember to have fun! but sometimes writing is hell.>>4494157While I kinda get where you are comming from if you do what >>4495026 does it's very rare when trans stuff it's not properly tagged. So you hate what, just reading for a couple of seconds a summary? Being reminded of their existence for a few seconds? I usually just browse F/F excluding all other categories + g!p and trans and I'm safe.
>>4495037Chatgpt has a lot of writing tells too. It also struggles with becoming repetitive and doesn't really do a good job expressing character's voices. Everyone just kinda reads the same like they're all the same person.
>>4494993Bible is a measly 800k words. Long by fic standards but I've read numerous longer ones with less incest.
>>4495037>Being reminded of their existence for a few seconds? I wish they didn't, exist that is

>>4495048Well, I wish I could rewire my brain to enjoy M/M or het since they have way more works for me to enjoy, but you've gotta focus on what you can control and not be mad about what you can't. Or not, do what you want.>>4495049Sure, I too prefer to read something that isn't AI-made, but currently I have to find out 30k words deep that the author started letting AI write more than they do themselves, maybe because they're tired of writing, maybe they have run out of ideas, who cares? and they won't tag it because of witch hunters who are scared of a tool that, while I understand why you're so against it, isn't going anywhere until they start losing billions and upping the price to recoup costs reducing prompts and the easy access we have now.>>4495225Remember, you aren't a professional writer, so don't be so hard on yourself. Strive to be better, but don't be paralyzed by the fear of writing something bad. You can always sleep on it and improve it later! But it needs to exist first. Also, if you're curious, you can look up most popular fics (kudos + views + comments) of various fandoms to find out that sometimes they aren't even well written, they're just entertaining in their own way.

>>4495785My personal (probably incorrect) theory is that people writing the Human Domestication Guide stuff eventually wanted to write more mean-spirited sci-fi petplay, so they latched onto it. And since HDG is a majority forcefem fetish setting with sprinkles of pure yuri, you get the end results.

>really enjoying a longfic I've found>get to the latest chapter >author apologizes for the delayed upload and that he's going to become a father soonIt's over. Beyond over, even.I should really get into the habit of checking the author's notes on the latest chapter before getting too invested.
>>4495977What rustles your jimmies about a scenario your described, exactly?
>>4496031>Last updated: 2019
>>4495977I do that as well as control+F synonyms of penis.Saves me from reading, sometimes, multiple tens of thousands of words of buildup and foreplay just to get flashbanged with the graphic description of Emily's throbbing erection
>>4496059Damn, understandable.
>>4495977>>4496059I don't know if this is a controversial take, but I actually don't really mind a longfic that never got finished as long as it's decently enjoyable. It's rough in like a smaller ship/fandom where you only have a handful of fics and the discontinuation means you have nothing else to read, but if it's from a larger pairing then you read it, enjoy it, and reach the haiatus and it's more of a "well I wish there was more but time to go on to the next fic" thing.I think it helps that for a lot of fics there are a bunch of other natural ending points so the current "arc" not being resolved isn't a huge deal. If it starts off about angst and them pining after each other and then at 25/? they have worked it out and it's discontinued at 31 where its dealing with some larger story stuff, that's alright with me.
>>4496162For me it kinda depends but I can't really articulate on what. There are longfics I've read that had no ending that I was still satisfied with it and ones where I went full "That's fucking it?"I think your second point does ring true though. Because ultimately I'm in fics for the shipping 90% of the time if the focus couple are in a good spot by the time it drops off I'm usually good with it.
I really wish Ao3 would implement some sort of proper "primary pairing" delineation, because holy shit is it awful trying to find fics in fandoms that are ship-heavy.
>>4496190Would be the single best update to the filter they could make.
>>4496289No, that would be a tag blacklist
>>4496362That's just using exclusion. Having it be permanent is just a minor convenience, being able to actually tell what pairing a fic is about, or search for only fics ABOUT that pairing rather than fics that have the pairing tagged is significantly more helpful.
>>4496065I do the same. I hate stealth troons so much it's unreal.
>>4495053oh god i need this
>>4496364Can't you use the otp:true search argument? Or do you mean something else?
>>4491989Holy shit Alone, Together mention. The pre-return chapters are my all-time favourite fanfic chapters for Kigo. Did that postapocalyptic survival roadtrip story even before shit like The Walking Dead or The Last of Us made it so commonplace in media. Why are the two parts so incongruent with each other? Did the author change or something? Post-return chapters were so weirdly written, out of character, boring... I felt like I had whiplash. As for the dad molesting Shego backstory shit I guess the author probably either had some shit they wanted to work out and included it in the story or needed a reason for Shego to spazz out during a sexual encounter because trauma equals drama.
>>4496640Not that anon and haven't read it in more than a decade, but loved the post-return parts too. They had to reconcile so much oddness while being in love with each other... I should get back into reading Kigo, though I'm not sure how much of it will hold up
>>4496640>>4496731>Alone TogetherHow can you like this crap? The characters are so removed from OG it's like reading about author's OCs wearing same name tags as Kim and Shego. I don't get it.
>>4496742>The characters are so removed from OGHow so?
Are there any RWBY fanfics where Weiss's character is more interesting than "rich and sassy, maybe her dad slapped her a few times". I loved Henceforward for giving us edgy Weiss. It seems every fanfic tries to make Ruby way more interesting than everyone else but I just don't care.
>>4491989>why is everyone praising it?>uploaded 2006well, i read it when i was 11 years old and probably so were a lot of people
>>4497605You're gonna have to give us more than that sis
>>4497605It's been a while, but I really liked the Dissonance Trilogy. It's old enough that Winter is the younger sister, and Weiss has an interesting relationship with her, and later on Weiss is really put through the wringer as she takes control of the SDC.If you liked the edge in Henceforward, that's probably up your alley.
>>4496522Stealth troons are worst but sometimes they just use of of the seventeen hundred retarded tumblerite words for "woman with penis" instead of futa or trans like a normal person i want to kill them with a large rock>>4495977>beginning chapters>authors notes are jokes, discussion and thanks for engagement>almost caught up>fours authors notes in a row start off by apologising for the wait

>>4498013gock, gip, gp, g!p, !gp girlcock, gurlcock, girlpenis, female cock, lady cock, fempenis.Yuri is usually a safe bet. >>4498013You need to install a userscript extension such as Tampermonkey, then add two scripts. It's very easy, takes <5 minutes then you never need to manually exclude tags ever again: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/3579-ao3-saviorI use this as my blacklist, and add to it whenever I discover a new synonym for girldick that has slipped past the filter:['*has a penis*', '*has a dick', 'Futanari*', '*Alpha/Beta/Omega*', '*Alpha/Omega*', 'Trans *', 'Transgender*', '*trans-*', 'Transfem*', 'Girl Penis', '*dickgirl*', '*titfuck*', '*breeding*', 'Penis In Vagina Sex', 'Girl with a dick', 'Alpha!*', 'Omega!*', '*G!P*']
>>4498125Thanks, I will add them to the blacklist. Yes, what is unclear about F/F? But maybe that is to be expected from someone who can't tell women and men apart. >>4498162That sounds like even I could manage it. Together with >>4498125 tags, this should kill most of the troon fics. Thank you.

>>4499422Hollow Knight is doing an incredible balance act between faux-Shakespearean dramatic and very quirky writing. It works in the game, because it is used sparingly and doesn't need to carry the whole experience. Once you have to turn the game's style into a full on text experience it can very easily descend into either purple prose or something that feels completely out of character.I think the fanfic I shared is in the tolerable zone.
>>4499468Hornet feels pretty OOC in this to me.
>>4497761I'm getting weird vibes from In Pursuit. The abundance of double spaces and correctly spelt words that are similar to but clearly not of the intended meaning (for example, finding a tomb in a desk drawer), makes me think that there's been a lot of cutting and pasting and autocorrecting going on. I'm probbly reading too much into it tho.
>>4500755Or they just wrote it on a phone.
>>4500759i kneel if true
>>4500761Just a guess because write a lot of my never posted fics in google docs on my phone because it's the easiest thing to use lying in bed, and I also run into those same issues: autocorrect for words that are uncommon, like tome because mobile autocorrect thinks it knows better and double spaces from several different sources (like tapping a predictive word and forgetting that it'll auto-add a space acter). If your intended implication was that it's edited AI, I think that's very unlikely. The story in general feels a bit too specifically written.
>>4500765>AINo, I wasn't going that far. The text doesn't feel very AI-ish. Phoneposting is something that didn't even occur to me but does explain the vibe.
Never been into HP, but I just discovered that Hermione/Bellatrix is a huge ship with tons of age-gap whump fanfics, which is my favorite thing. Does anyone have some recs in that vain? It's over 10 years old now and I actually have no idea if it ever finished (I stopped reading when it was still a WIP) but I'm pretty sure it's the most popular fic for the ship. It was pretty huge when I was into HP back then and I just looked and seems like it has a lot of fanworks for it too (picrel is fanart for it). Does unfortunately have some Ron in there at the start, but I remember nothing about him in that fic so I must've skipped past his parts when I was reading.
>>4501445Always happy to recommend my personal favorite, which also includes some other side f/f ships.https://archiveofourown.org/works/26815408/>Preferably ones where Hermione and Ron have never been together at any point. I'm not familiar with the fandom at all, just don't want to get jumpscared by het in the middle of a 500k word ficJust as a forewarning for the pairing in general, because a pretty big portion of fics are usually post-war, a lot are going to have that. It's like Kigo where a lot of fics take Kim and Ron as a thing that didn't pan out or is actively moved past. That said, I don't think I've ever encountered a Bellamione fic which suddenly had het in the middle, the het is basically always that Hermione was comphet'ing or otherwise confusing platonic attachment in the heat of the moment, as a starting circumstance for her finding something real with Bellatrix.
>>4501489>that explanationthat's a good way to put it, as a HP fan I didn't start shipping Bellamione until that one part and it's way towards the end of the series
>>4501489Really enjoying this. Yeah if it's not a big deal I will just ignore it. Great explanation indeed, thanks!
Isn't bellatrix like 50, has granny hygine and 80s english english dental structure? Eww.
>>4501682Witches age slowly and teeth can be fixed with potions or spells.
>>4499771Sorta agreed, but you have to be a little flexible when it comes to fanfic portrayals for non story/dialogue centric games. Stuff like HK just leaves a lot of room for interpretation on purpose. And when it comes to Lacenet in particular, there is a rather huge spectrum of what writers want to focus on. Making Hornet too emotional or vulnerable can feel off, yes. Making Lace too open and chill is perhaps not exactly easy to justify with what we got in the game. But neither are actually out of the realm of the possible. You have to remember that Lace got like 30ish lines in the entire game and most of her lore is implied at best. People are latching onto Phantom as such an important character to Lace despite the fact that we know basically nothing about Phantom and there is just a SINGLE secret Needolin flashback that shows Lace addressing her as her sister and lamenting their fate. THAT is all it took to cement their connection so heavily. Give it a year or two and headcanons will be seen as true canon as with so many fandoms.
>>4501489Well now i want a Hermione/ Bellatrix misunderstnading fic where Hermione time travels or something else and she just stumbles her way into being a new dark lord on accident
>>4501819Not really the same thing, but maybe you'll likehttps://archiveofourown.org/works/52971301/chapters/134001022
>>4501683>I can fix herSis, I...
>>4502013>*Hermione can fix herI'm just saying these are pretty minor factors. Bellatrix being in her late 40s doesn't mean much when witches and wizards can live centuries. Physical issues left over from a decade and a half rotting in a medieval prison cell don't really matter when spells and potions exist. It's explicitly mentioned on several occasions that there are specific spells for fixing teeth.

I don't normally read anything outside of my favorite pairings but I took a chance on a multichapter fic where the MC's love interest has an on-again off-again relationship with another girl while the MC suffers. I kept hoping that the MC would get together with her love interest in the end but she's too chickenshit to confess and goes off to college alone and miserable. It was so beautifully written that I'm still thinking about it even though I finished reading it yesterday.

>>4502235https://archiveofourown.org/works/73582206I was pulling for Yukina the whole way, too. Even Sayaka in Yagakimi had the ovaries to confess even though she knew it was hopeless, damn. Part of Yukina's character is that she can come across as abrasive because she has no filter and she says that being a singer means she's not afraid to open her mouth, but I can see her not wanting to confess to Lisa if she thinks that doing so would rock the boat and make Lisa upset if Lisa is already happy with Kasumi. Kasumi being an unintentional homewrecker because of her infinite gayness is pretty on point though.
>>4502497Stop pretending everyone gives a shit about worm.
>>4502523Oh no i hate it just seen simmilar complaint about on discord about a fic.Chill i dont even like the W word i wont mention it again baka

>>4502510It's the Yukina/Lisa/Kasumi love triangle really a thing in AO3? I saw another fic with that triangle but with Yukina being in love with Kasumi but losing her to Lisa.
>>4502636I think it's just surface-level because of anime-only' or something. I don't remember Lisa/Kasumi being a thing but I haven't been big into bandori for about 3 years now. They might have gotten support in-canon.

Someone last thread asked for crossover fic recs and I was going to suggest this one but it was on hiatus at the time.https://archiveofourown.org/works/43562967/chapters/109530516It's a Worm/Star Wars crossover with Taylor/Vicky as the main pairing. It ended satisfyingly enough but their relationship kinda fell to the wayside when the clone wars got going.>>4502497I see Tilt recs a lot but I've never bothered starting it. The idea of someone with no powers pretending to have them and outwitting everyone just sounds so chuuni.
>>4502038I read a few chapters. Yeah this is much better when it comes to Hornet's characterisation. A bit too much cursing and casual narration for my taste in parts, but this is a lot more in line with what I like about Lacenet.

>>4502741It's fucking Worm and fucking Star Wars and a fucking crossfic. Of course it is worthless trash full of males.
>>4502744but it's a measly 700k shortfic, why do they have to shove a straight relationship into that tiny little thing? if it was just male side characters existing then it'd be fine imo

>>4502636Not really. I assume people just use Kasumi because she's the gay genki type and kinda fits in everywhere. I see Yukina/Lisa/Sayo love triangles more often, but I'm too into Hikawacest to be interested in that.

Idk if posting this here will help me with my fic but I will do it.I fear that my B couple can become a more interesting one that the main couple and maybe that's because I lack the skills to write a better romance for two characters that are supposed to grow together than the usual trope of "extremely good girl helps to fix broken girl"The character arc of the MC it's to find that her home was actually the place were she belonged to because there's where her loved ones live, the character arc of her love interest it's to find the strenght to carry her responsabilities as a ruler and the character arc of the secondary "main" character it's that she needs to learn that revenge will give her nothing in the end, and she lacks the gits anyways, something that she will achieve thanks to her love interest that it has a flat character arc like in canon. Any thoughts?
>>4503797This is /lit/ now, whore, post writing
>>4503797Is it possible that the pair you're writing for simply lack compelling chemistry with each other? It might be possible that you're trying too hard to rush to the romance bits instead of taking the time to flesh out the relationship naturally. If I'm reading your summary right, the "main pair" aren't physically with one another for the bulk of your story. Maybe use the MC's trek home as a framing device for a series of flashback chapters so you can see what MC + Love Interest were like in the past and how they came to fall in love with each other? I don't know if that makes any sense.
>>4503848Sadly that isn't a problem because that's the main ship of the fandom and they will have a lot of time together in the middle of the story, maybe the plot it's in the way lf the romance? It's a action with romance story after all but I have the advantage to show them dating after they become girlfriends so maybe showing how they act as a couple could be a better idea.>>4503818Rude. Don't tempt me to use the easy menhera route and give the princess a mentally unstable walking nuke as a girlfriend.
>>4503848>>4503935Thinking about it again I think the problem it's that they kind of become girlfriends too fast but it's supposed to be like that because of canon plot reasons so I think I will develop their relationship after they start dating. Thanks anon and sorry to not post the fic here but I'm sure I just spoiled a lot of things in my posts.
>>4503935>mentally unstable walking nuke as a girlfriendI've been reading through a longfic based on a fantasy series where the main pairing is a canon character x OC and the OC is a "girls are cutest when they're retarded" type but has magic spells that can lay waste to an entire country while other characters in the universe can barely pop off a magical firecracker. Basically like Mugi from K-On, but with nukes.
>>4504235Is it any good?
>>4503797>>4503935Why are you being so stupidly vague about what fandom the fic is for? is this some het garbage you are too embarrassed to mention here? Don't worry, the freaks here are used to it.Nothing can be as bad as the one dumbass who wanted to write a fanfic that had all the girls from het rape stories he read team up to fight back, giving the male rapists a bunch of attention and screen time as antagonists, with a sliver of yuri between the victims.Nobody can hit that low again any time soon.
>>4504331It's alright. The books that the fic is based on go really heavy on the worldbuilding at the expense of plot progression and the author apes this to an impressive degree, so for every chapter about the main couple there's one chapter about some random human farmer rebuilding his life after the big war that happens in the beginning of the fic followed by another that shows how the beastman country is responding after the OC slaughtered all of their leadership, so it's great if you like long tangents about randos but not so great if you like a swiftly-moving plot. I'm about two-thirds of the way through the fic and the main couple has just started being intimate with each other.
>>4504449Because I don't want to give spoilers of the story>inb4 "there're like 5 posters on /u/"A lot of anons really underestimate the amount of people that lurk here.
>>4504542That's stupid. If someone was supposed to read your shit they would need to know what the hell the fic is for.
Do you prefer a fic be from the POV of the top or the bottom?
>>4505536>top or the bottomI prefer not having this dynamic to begin with. Also it feels like this only applies to smut-focused fics and I skim smut even in not smut fics. I do prefer to have the POV of the pink-aura'd girl, because the black/purple aura girl should preferably be filled with self-loathing and prone to self-destruction and I think it works better to have the second hand account of that rather than the person in question's, which makes it seem kind of emo and woe-is-me.
>>4505536It really doesn't matter to me. I struggle to even think of a yuri pairing that I like that has an obvious top and bottom. Like, is Shimamura the top because Adachi is the dog? I've written fics for the same pairing where one fic is from one character's POV and another is from the other girl's POV, I just choose whichever POV I think will have the maximum impact on the reader.
>>4505536All stories are more fun from the bottomt. bottom
>>4505536I prefer not to read fics where you can define characters with retarded binary sex terms.
>>4505674What you are talking about are switches and they are the most common among lesbian couples, because fucking obviously. You want to please your partner. Strict top/bottom dynamics are stupid and rare.
>>4505536I'm not really a fan of trying to shoehorn two characters into a top and bottom but I suppose for the purpose of smut... I guess it depends on the flavor of the sex.>roughBottom pov>gentleTop pov
>>4495785>Warhound was hotUnfortunately, written by a tranny and tainted by association
>>4506354As long as the characters arent trannies nobody should give a shit. There is plenty of yuri written by males and you don't get any backlash for posting it here. Fiction and author can usually be separated. Usually trannies arent capable of avoiding self-inserting or pushing the trannyshit into their works, but if they have that collossal restraint than whatever does it matter?
>>4506365Later works in the series have trans characters and sex scenes with troons
>>4506382I haven't spoken about any particular series. And if that is your fear, newsflash, any retarded author can add things you don't like any time they want. There are plenty of cis women who randomly add trannies to their works or suddenly feel like their formerly yuri only works really need to have some hetshit side couples or some forced love triangle with a guy. Even lesbian authors just randomly deciding now they really care about BL shit has happened plenty of times. You can't escape bad changes no matter who the author is. Unless they declare beforehand they will have these unfavorable elements in their work you simply have no way to know.

>>4506400Oh never mind, you're a retarded ESL
>>4508989I understand the tumor that you call your brain is making it hard for you to read, but my English skills far surpass yours. Although I suspect this holds true even for a 5th grader. For the sake of whoever I replied to first I can only hope you are a random shitposter who interjected due to a mental stroke.
>>4508992I think that poster did shit itself, especially since it chose to reply to a 6 day old post as if it were a recent conversation.Honestly I'm so sick of assholes whining about ESLs and people without perfect English on /u/, their whining is so much more annoying and disruptive than the people they have a problem with.
>>4508993The majority of all English speaking people on this world are ESLs. It's nothing to be ashamed about. It only gets bad when posts are nearly impossible to decipher or if someone can't even keep their pronouns in order. Nearly nothing upsets me more than reading a yuri fanfic where the author keep using male pronouns for the girls, because they can't keep their writing consistent. In this context though? There was no logic to that response so it could only have been an attempt to troll or a mix up of tabs.
I'm reading a fic right now where the author always uses "they" or "their" to refer to characters, never "he" or "she" or "his" or "hers". It's consistent to the point where it makes me wonder if the author is a high-functioning ESL.
>>4509119Sounds more like alphabet soup mental illness. I have seen several Youtubers recently refer to all characters as they, even though most of them were gendered. And that's despite them using female pronouns for those characters when directly addressing them at the start. It feels like some kind of trend where when talking about a character third person people will always use they, which is of course fucking stupid.
>>4501469Any good yuri fics with her?
>>4509588Crazy Little Things By Dreiser is pretty old but still the best Luna/Hermione story I have read.
>>4509119I've noticed a couple fics do that with a particular character. Untagged! I just get halfway through the story when my favorite character shows up and suddenly surprise genderqueer headcanon. It's not as bad as untagged transbian stuff but what annoys me is that even by their logic, if you accept that the character shouldn't be considered a woman, then how is it a lesbian romance?
>>4509676>already read itFuck
>>4509688They just want to stack identity terms. Lots of NB idiots are like "I dont want to be called a woman, but treat me like a woman and call me a lesbian anyway". Their retardation isnt consistent. They just want the attention and feel special for not "conforming" to gender norms. Never realizing that they are just contributing to rigid gender roles by pretending that all the traits that they don't agree with are inherently female, so they pretend they are not women. Fuck 'em.
>>4509778Yeah I try to be open-minded, but it's almost funny how being so mindlessly inclusive has made them accidentally imply that NBs are really just women after all. Oops. They can't have it both ways, not for lack of trying.
>>4509588I'm curious to see what the HP fanfic landscape looks like once we're in the later years of the HBO show. Like I'm also curious if we'll see a resurgence of Buffy fics from the new spinoff or if Netflix Avatar's second season will reinvigorate Tyzula, since the first season already did a bunch of new extra setup for Azula being more tragic and a victim of circumstance and Book 2+ is where she gets a lot more screen time.
>>4509778>>4510271>>4509688>>4509119>anti-woke tards throwing tantrums because they don't know about the singular they/themBeing right-wing is a mental deficiency.
>>4510374Not any of the people you replied to. Nothing happening in that conversation is particularly "anti-woke". It's pretty specifically just pointing out the absolutely peak retarded idea of saying "I am not a woman" and "I am a woman who likes other women" at the same time, because by saying that you are a lesbian you are proclaiming >singular they/themDespite what people argue, these are not actually equal and totally heckin valid alternatives that can just be slotted into any nominative or accusative position in place of the gendered ones whenever you feel like it. Like all close (class) category words, they have a very specific, pretty locked in function, which in this case is to be used in rare edge cases where you are speaking about an individual but it is impossible to determine the gender or sex. It was never designed to just be a preferential replacement referring to a person that has an obvious male/female identification, and it does not function that way within the current conventional grammar, which is why it introduces confusion over who is being talked about and how many people and why people have to deliberately train themselves to use it rather than the more appropriate pronoun in a situation (and will frequently make mistakes).
