>>4489534Game or anime, which is gayer?
>>4489546Manga, game panders way too much to trainerfags. Picrel is about as good as it gets.
Why was there no episode last week?
>>4489551>mangaI asked about the anime tho... It got threads on /u/ all the time so it must have had something to it, no?>game is for trainerfagsI heard a very different story. Trainer is basically irrelevant to most of the events and story? And what about that dance event which was basically just a thinly veiled metaphor for coupling up ships?
>>4489605Anime is worth watching, but in terms of gay, it's slim pickings.Trainer is unfortunately very relevant in the game and most of the explicitly romantic events are reserved for them. It's incredibly annoying, since Uma Musume has such a strong cast of characters, to pander to what is essentially the self-insert of the player.
>>4489583Golf championship I think.>>4489605>>4489710Eh, McQueen and Teio are reasonably gay in season 2. And the new show is nicknames Cinderella Gay for a reason. As for the game, you can play as a female trainer to get unique dialogue, like Rice Shower, and I heard the same applies for when Mejiro Dober is available. But yeah... the self-insert pales in comparison to the uma pairings. Vodka and Daiwa's career so far are the better examples.
>>4489710>>Anime is worth watching, but in terms of gay, it's slim pickings. What are you talking about? Every season only increases the number of yuri pairings or options for those pairings. In the first season, Spe's obsession with Suzuka was so big that it affected her own performance in races; they even had to tell her to think more about herself (although Spe never stopped being obsessed). Not to mention Grass as the yaya in that relationship; the anime even makes it clear that she's a stalker.>>4489715It's funny how this couple (referring to the image) is the only one that has minimally romantic undertones with a trainer and a uma; the rest are purely professional or the typical dynamic father and daughter.
>>4489715I know it's financially vital for a gacha game, but still... Self-inserts are sad.
>>4489720Maybe you're referring to the anime, to which I'd agree that the uma x trainer relationships are professional. However, in the game they're quite explicitly romantic.
>>4489551>>4489721How sad that you've lost the simple, child-like joy of playing as an adult woman who abuses her position to seduce teenage horsies.
>>4489724Lol retard, it's this kind of thinking that greases the gacha wheels and takes resources away from proper ships. You're not a character in Uma Musume, get a life.
>>4489725lmao millions of primary market fans do not share this sentiment so strap yourself in for a long era of seethe
>>4489848I'm well aware - doesn't change the fact that I'm right.
>>4489720
>>4489720I need to catch up with Season 3 and Cinderella, even if I haven't heard good things about the former.
>>4489720>Every season only increases the number of yuri pairings or options for those pairingsThat's not a good thing, more mix and matching means the focus and intensity of each are spread thinner and thinner, cinderella gray in particular is basically at gacha game levels of shallow.I miss when it was mostly about a main couple that grew tighter over time and you could really root for them from start to finish, knowing you'd get a strong payoff for it, that was the big draw of the series from a yuri standpoint; and side couples like Rice and Bourbon worked well in tandem precisely because they weren't muddled with other options too.I know the CG manga is older than S2, but given the success of the adaptation and S3 having so little emphasis on the main couple compared to the previous seasons I'm not very hopeful for the future, I feel like this has already become bang dream, without even a UiSaki ending to look forward to.I don't dislike bang dream mind you, but there's a ton of multi-shipping stuff that goes nowhere already, it's a shame to lose a rare something great in favor of a common something fine.
>>4489885>>4490023The early installments and game delay have misled you if you think there were supposed to be actual long standing uma pairings that were supposed to deepen over time (I had thought like this too before the game). When you look back at everything with hindsight you can see that with uma pairings it was always going to be multi-shipping stuff that goes nowhere when you see how intimate things get with trainer and uma in career stories especially after year 1, and even when you ignore the trainer the game stories often mix things up i.e. with SuzuGuru in that one summer event, the uptick in BrianxRudolf from the first autumn festival event, the fact that otherwise it's a tossup whether Brian gets paired with Amazon or Maya depending on the story, etc. (also ironically SuzuGuru seeds were first planted in season 1 which was the golden age of SuzuSpe). Unfortunately the amount of material that felt like setup for what some thought were "main" uma couples just pales in comparison to that of either umaxtrainer or noncommittal multishipping and with the clarity of hindsight you can see that cygays was always more interested in the latter two things
>>4490023>>4490183Eh, they're still young and horny. Let them sleep around with other umas and female trainers. They can settle down later.
>>4490183Did the controversial PV that caused one of the horse owners to pull out of the project scare them too much? Imagine being weak to yuri.
>>4490214The idea that the yuri made some owners pull out is both sheer projection on the part of gamergate permavirgins ("_I_ had a complete meltie seeing yuri so they must have too!!") and yet seems plausible as well since it's not like horse owner ojisans are typically very open-minded. Then again the franchise hasn't stopped with the yurilite stuff and we're only getting more and more owners onboard. I think literally the only non-speculah facts we have at all from first parties involved in the PV time period are these archived tweets from the Tosen owner https://umamusume.net/archives/214745 whose only comments were his own experience seeing a specific preview of Jordan and wanting some character personality details changed, otherwise not a scrap of facts or evidence about what any other owner thought if they were even involved at all. And although there are no statements whatsoever from fatman Kaneko's side it's been generally known that he's notoriously stingy with literally any use of his horses' likenesses and names from well before the PV.
>>4490214it more of a reaction to gropey type fan service in that early pv as opposed to yuri iirc
>>4490204Stop being nasty and coping, the post makes a great point.
>>4490183>actual long standing uma pairings that were supposed to deepen over timeBut there are, in S1 and S2, pairings that constantly developed over the course of the season and had their cathartic culmination by the end, that's the most you can ask of subtext; I obviously never expected anything from the gacha, it's gacha, but the anime used to be different.Unfortunately the game got too successful so even the anime degenerated into the usual generic waifu-faggotry like all of its peers, but that wasn't always the case.
>>4490223I'm not, umas like Gold Ship and Fuji Kiseki deserve to have huge body counts. That's a much better concept than yet another moe show where the romance hits a ceiling.
>>4490224That's the thing, if you take into account that the game got massively delayed and what it ended up doing once it finally came out it becomes evident that whatever seemed like main couple status at the time in the anime was never gonna get more commitment and depth beyond their respective seasons. I'm also not really sure what you mean about seasons 1 and 2 having yuri subtext catharsis, personally after watching things like Symphogear and Revue Starlight which felt a lot more like yuri subtext catharsis I hardly feel like uma seasons 1 and 2 have anything like that. If anything the climactic catharsis of season 2 was at least as much if not more about Teio's personal triumph and miracle than it was about showing McQueen an inspiring miracle to overwrite the fate of her injury ending her career.
>>4490313God, imagine what Tachyon's bed would smell like if they let her fuck. Digitan would be in even more ecstasy than she is already.
>>4490313>>4490383Coombrains get out, romance and shipping is what yuri is all about
>>4490422
>>4490422hol up, let her cook
>>4490434>Manhattan Cafe's friend is her half-amnesiac memories of her mom, Sunday Silence (the previous record holder for most prolific parent of race horses)>Without knowing it, Cafe and Tachyon are actually half sisters from two different parents in Sunday Silence's prolific body count>Tachyon is somehow even more promiscuous than Sunday Silence, and this reminds Cafe of her, leading to them becoming friends with benefits>Digitan figures out the real story that neither Cafe or Tachyon actually know and has a heart attack from the pseudo-parental incest / actual half-sisterly incest doomed yuri of it all and dies without regrets, taking the secret to her grave to protect one of her precious ships
>>4490436You know what, this works.
>>4490433Coombrain gtfo
>>4490457Sis the umas are athletes in their prime, all living and competing in close proximity. They'd make the Olympic village look like a nunnery.
>>4490331>never gonna get more commitment and depth beyond their respective seasons.I'd have been fine with that, the problem is that new seasons aren't giving what old ones used to within their own scope either.>I hardly feel like uma seasons 1 and 2 have anything like thatI didn't mean the culmination of the seasons is yuri, they're obviously not love stories, but the main couples do have their own development and payoff in both; compared to that, S3 got like one good episode for them before they raced each other, and cinderella doesn't even have anything you could call a main couple in good faith, the difference is palpable.
