It could be a bait flag to drum up pity but nothing actually happens between the two. It could be a separation flag too where something happens that forces Kiwi to break that promise, not really death but the break up completely changes bot Utena and Kiwi. Right now, they are both young and in love but life is cruel sometimes. Any romantist worth their salt knows the phrase "I am going to college far away from here" or "my parents got a job overseas" is a worse fate than death.

>>4614504I doubt it. Introducing five new characters isn't the sign of ending a manga. People also thought the Lord arc would be the end of the manga and got proven wrong. If anything, Holy and Utena have opposing view points. Utena is the type of fan who likes to rush to an ending while Holy is the one who wants the show to last longer. If Utena's rationale was right, then Lord should have died after the Lord arc. It was because of Sister sparing her that Lord was able to go meet Randa and Momo and form the Shiochans. Utena is probably going to learn some kind of a lesson from all this rather than the manga just ending so soon.
