The Forbidden Siren games have shibito and yamibito with guns, they're basically zombiesI'm going to laugh really hard if this thread is because of that Darktide thread earlier and the next Darktide thread has you posting this list you're making
>>720619742Man, Siren had some underrated enemy designs. Instead of the schlock and 80's horror movie style aesthetics of Resident Evil, the Shibito are more insectile, their bodies literally twisting to fit an unnatural transformation. You don't see this more restrained, yet somehow more extreme type of body horror nowadays.
>>720616251>"zombie" enemies>they're actually alien parasites>they took the live ones>oh god, I can still hear them
>>720616251shoot guns out of what?
>>720620354Yeah they're really cool, Datatsushi needs his human servants to be more effective nest builders and slaves so he twists them into eusocial insect people, it's real neat (and the Brains are just completely weird fungal/sea creature mutants, great designs)I was a fair bit disappointed about Siren 2's yamibito, you really only get the Chicken and the Hand guys (and Otoshigo), maybe I just don't get it but they just don't seem like they have that same thought process behind themLike, what does Mother gain from her servants turning into chickenheads?
>>720620847cannons
>>720620857The whims of poorly understood eldritch horrors are, funnily enough, poorly understood too. Maybe Mother was on a farm life kick in her prison-cave at some point.

>>720621062Maybe I'm just spoiled by the decades of people picking apart other eldritch horror series but that's a boring answer (and it's not your fault, because that's a perfectly reasonable answer, considering)If it is the case of "we just don't know" I would've liked to have seen more variety, the Hand yamibito would've been much scarier if it was just one of them and the other two main ones were some other misshapen things, like Mother or the yamibito were experimenting or just had no regard for the human form at allEldritch horrors just don't feel like they reach their full potential when they're uniform, or at least uniform in a way that feels cheap (I give a bit more leeway to shibito because insects are, generally speaking, uniform by nature, and Shibito brains all have unique designs)>>720621380You Motherfucker
>>720618621Why are zoomers always such soft cunts? Also, fucked up tentacle monster mutations have been a RE staple since 2.
>>720618339Alien vs Predator arcade
>>720621556If there is one thing I think I can knock on the series in general, is that enemy variety itself is lacking. 2 as you say only has like three Yamibito types, and the Shibito themselves get sidelined like halfway through the game. Blood Curse was on to something with the Maggot Shibito, but still restrained itself. Imagine what Datatsushi's take on a Centipede or Praying Mantis would be like; double points since Japanese Mythology has a lot of references to those specific insects.Honestly, survival horror games with bug-like enemies are my favorite. Bugs, despite IMO being pretty cute for the most part, make for great horror since a good majority of them already terrify the populace; having even just a dog sized insect in a horror game is enough for folks to nope out. Insect-human hybrids are even better, as Siren displays.
We'll outfit you with rattlesnake genes that let you see in the dark. Extra mitochondria to double your strength and your stamina. We'll slide flexible armor under your skin, special polysaccharides to keep out the blades and bullets without turning you into some kind of crab-shelled freak. Most of your augments won't even be visible to the naked eye.Best of all, you can literally sleep through most of your tour. Once we work our magic you'll be able to free your mind and let your body run itself. And we guarantee that body will be up to the challenge. Its reflexes will be faster. Its aim will be better. Its tactical decisions will be smarter. Your body on autopilot will be at least 300% safer than it would be if you were awake. That's a fact.Live through two years, get paid for five. If you can find a better deal, take it.

>>720621556Also on a more technical note, they would've been scarier if their weird hand body came into play more, like they reached out and crushed you instead of just waggling at you with their thumbbodyLike yeah the dog, spider and fly shibito don't do much either but how they mix up the gameplay makes sense given their physical form, the dogs and spiders are harder to hit in melee because they're low to the ground and the flies take advantage of their flight to shoot youYamibito have the cool weakness to light but then their inability to take damage from the front for... some reason just kinda sucksAnd Otoshigo actually does utilise his giant facebody by just fucking crushing you like a giant boulder, took me by complete surprise when that happenedI know I'm ranting but I've had nobody to talk about Siren with since I finished it a week ago so I'm gonna rant>>720621896Yeah it would've been cool to see more variety but at the same time I kinda get it, despite how apocalyptic things get we're really only seeing the initial stages of Hanuda's/Yamijima's transformations, so in Datatsushi's case it makes sense that he just makes the essentials first (fliers, crawling guys and guys who tie things together, they're all constructive creatures, and the brains would probably get way weirder given time)To me, Yamibito don't have that justification, even at their peak in Yorito's ending all I was thinking was "so do the Hand and Chicken guys live regular lives too or what?"Being left wanting more is a blessing and a curse, I get the feeling Slitterhead isn't gonna scratch that itch for me>Honestly, survival horror games with bug-like enemies are my favorite.Yeah but I wish the ones we do have went harder on why they'd be so scary, a giant spider that slaps you with poison is one thing but a giant spider that melts you from the inside with each bite while dragging you off to its dark lair would really put the fear of god (of spiders) into players
