I’ve got this idea for a videogame about dogs, a mix of slice of life and fantasy adventure with some sci-fi elements. There’s also a big villain with some twists later on. Problem is, I can’t draw very well, and I can’t program or animate either. Where should I start learning, what should I look into, or where could I share my ideas? Any advice helps. Thanks.

Use AI

Udemy has deep sales on courses covering those topics every other week it seems. I got two courses for $45 when normally a single one would cost upwards of $100. Of course it varies from course to course, and that’s if you prefer a slightly more formal approach to learning and enjoy structure. If you’re more of an autodidact, I’d recommend grabbing some ebooks from Libgen (though last time I checked it was down and folks were cracking down on it and its mirrors).

Cool.

You pick a skill, search beginner tutorials and keep asking yourself every week or so if you want to keep doing it. Make small unrelated projects that only require your skill level. Mspaint shitpost that no one will ever see? Good enough, at least you finished it. Then you'll either spend years on your dream project or realise that you need other people to do 80% of it and spend years on your dream project.

Standard paper sized screenless Wacom M One costs 60-80 bucks. Wear paper on top of it for better traction.

Krita is free drawing program that does everything paid programs do.

There's a vidya fan art thread up right now with dozens of drawfags participating so if you got questions, there's anons who know what's up.

Is there something better than Loomis?

All the guides no matter by whom teach you constructing, sketching, propotions and posing. Loomis simply the best known. When studying Loomis, don't copy but apply it to things you want to draw

My friend swears by Keys to Drawing

You don't actually need loomis or any other similar shit, just draw by yourself and pick up things by seeing others and learning fron them. Don't fall for the /ic/ cultists' tricks.

Pick an engine you'd like to work in and start watching youtube tutorials on that engine to git gud.

unity, unreal. hell you can use google ai to help you make a 2d engine now. you still need experience to fix the bugs and refine the text

Krita or Clipstudio Paint for digital art.
Aseprite if you're doing pixel art.
I can't recommend engines or anything because all I use is Gamemaker, and I probably shouldn't recommend it to anyone else even though I think it's comfy to work in.
