Man, there's just something so aesthetically pleasing with all these websites and how they're constructed. It's like the person making them wants you to engage with the content and wants you to see what the brand or company is about at the same time. It's a shame shit like this had to be min-maxxxed out of existence by gormless, tasteless normalfaggots and their equally soulless corporate masters.

In a normal world, you'd be right. But society has been fucked ever since at least 2008, with it only getting exponentially worse since then in economic, cultural and social terms. Not being married and having kids is the least of my problems right now, honestly.

Not anymore. Used to play mine all the time then a friend wanted to start up a console modding business so I asked him to mod my SP with a screen mod, battery, and something else. He got back to me like a month later to tell me he finally sold it. For some reason he got it in his head that I was gifting him my SP as like a startup. Told him no, I asked him to mod it for me. We argued for a while over it and after a while he split some of the money from the sale but never apologised. I could buy one off ebay or something, and I maybe will one day, but it's not the same.

Funny how I actually never liked this style, the glossy 3D effect everything had to have always looked tacky to me and it felt too forced
But I can't help but look back fondly on the time period
MapleStory, Mabinogi, S4 League, Ragnarok Online private servers, a bunch of other random MMOs
Chatting with friends online in those games and through MSN
School was the only real worry at the time
Simple days, simple times

>I love GC but the d-pad is whatever
you'll be vaguely interested to know that the switch online repop of the gamecube controller has a somewhat redesigned d-pad, it's a more tidily designed piece with a better pivot and a plastic support now so it isn't the worst d-pad ever, just a mediocre one (it's still using the GBA d-pad as a starting point, after all)
>>

When I was a kid around 2000 or 2001, my friend had borrowed a Dreamcast from his cousin or something. I wanted to play Sonic Adventure so fucking bad since I knew this would be the only time I ever got to try playing on a Dreamcast but he refused and made me play some third person shooter (googling details reveals it was probably "Fur Fighter"). Fuck you, you gay sack of shit.

Mine included a game, even. This was with the 'cube that removed the digital port. This was around 2003, so those $49 are $86.03 today. But nobody wants to touch the subject of inflation for the prices the virtual console had. For example, GBA games were generally $40, yet Nintendo sold them for $7.99 max on the Wii U. This is not how you apply inflation.

yes, I think that's it. Mobile phones make up half the traffic or more if you're on a site, and beginning around 2012 or so I remember being told as a webdev to design "mobile first". As in, first make the page look good on a phone, then figure out how to do the desktop view later.

Lucky you. I can't find joy in anything anymore. All the companies that I have admired have sold their soul and have turned to shit. Indie games are mostly bootleg copies of games made 20 years ago. There are 1 or 2 games per year that actually interest me since they are actually worth playing. Sometimes I wish I was stupid, at least I would enjoy things more instead of noticing the ugly truth of the current reality we live in.

Ancient lost coding knowledge. The men coding in the 2000s and 90s were trained by the men who were coding in the 70s and 80s what you don’t know because it isn’t common knowledge is that this knowledge was passed down all the way from medieval times. they had computers also but you would not be able to recognize them because of their wooden and bronze components and the contraptions ran on lamp oil. Many of the buttons were things like gems and rubies and crystals and stones. once coders lost the ancient connection of learning how to code from a master who taught the apprentice this ancient coding knowledge ceased to be passed down. Now you just get taught shit tier coding in a class room.

Always loved this look growing up and still do. Architects talk about how the way a city is built affects the mental state of the citizen. I think that applies to things like a UI you use every day as well or things like advertisements as well. Just whatever you’re forced to look at regularly. the minimalist design we have for all things today I would compare to how these architects say the low effort copy pasted cheaply made buildings of today make depressing places to live in. we should be able to look at things on a daily basis that at a bare minimum look like effort was put into them to subconsciously influence us to try and work hard as well, I think minimalist stuff just subconsciously tells people to never try don’t take risks don’t dream don’t imagine don’t innovate don’t have passion

For what its worth, Daniel Liebskind doesn't do Brutalist architecture, his style is closer to Deconstructivist, and Lazlo Toth wasn't real. The two architects he's based on were closer to Modernists, although they did inspire the English ones that formally did Brutalism in the 50s, and he's named for a crazy person who attacked Michelangelo's Pieta in the 70s. As a short hand, Brutalism is concrete commie-blocks, deconstructavism is much more angular and asymetrical.

Most game devs aren't enthusiasts of either technology and/or video games like they were in the past. They're simply retards showing up for a 9-5 job and a paycheck that couldn't care less about the quality of the final project since they're getting fired right after it's finished either way. Same shit in the executive roles as well: most of the fags there are moronic mentally deranged business types rather than shrewd businessmen with respect for the crafts of other individuals and the vision they bring to the project or straight up eccentric artistic types that drive the project into being something unique and memorable.
