The idea is that you can not just operate things virtually but use it for long-distance manipulation of objects using these robots.It's cool shit. I think it's the next big thing in robotics after humanoid robotics. There's so many applications for it from gaming to manufacturing and industry to a host of medical/surgical uses, that it will eventually become something that ends up being a more household-adjacent type of technology as well as an industrial technological revolution rather than just a purely academic idea.

There's actually a hack I saw recently by pure coincidence, that makes the Leg and Buster upgrades in X1 optional. I should give that a try at some point. Unfortunately it does make a couple other minor level design tweaks elsewhere for non-upgrade reasons that don't quite sit right with me, but I don't know how to hack the game so that's my only option really.

I finally got around to Visions of Mana after having it in my backlog for years. And man, what a disappointment.I played for about 2.5 hours. Most of that was interminably long cutscenes and tutorial pop-ups. When I did actually get to finally play the game, the movement was AWFUL.As far as action RPGs go, it has some of the slowest, most stilted movement I've ever experienced. Everything is slow. Walking is slow. Sprinting is slow. The transition between walking and sprinting is slow. Jumping is slow. Landing is slow. Even the fucking combat is slow, since so many attacks knock the enemy back, which forces you to get back into attack range, which is SO FUCKING SLOW.After "running" around for half an hour collecting treasure chests, the game crashed.I loved Trials of Mana, so I was really looking forward to this game (despite putting it off for so long).
