Twilight Princess is good, but the criticism belongs with the Wii. By making it the premier release title, the game design suffered. Rather than upgrade the Wii version like a master quest or something, they simply reversed the map and added fucking Roll Goal. It also impacted dungeon design so they had to shoehorn in more waggle crap (nearly every dungeon item is something you're supposed to point-and-shoot).The Wii was designed to be a low-budget console, with the CPU and GPU basically just being overclocked versions of the gamecube components. Nintendo spent a whole generation printing money by not giving a shit about upgrading engines or catering to their core audience because they wanted every game to sell to casuals who just wanted to play Wii Sports. There's a reason there were endless memes poking fun at how the "Wii version" of any game looked awful and was downgraded in some way. Twilight Princess suffered the same fate internally.

So they just flipped the whole fucking world and the input mappings rather than edit Link alone; that's why stuff like Midna's helmet and other asymmetric character designs are visibly reversed.
