>most technically impressive Batman game ever made
>spend half of the game forced to partake in tedious tank missions
What the fuck was Rocksteady's problem?
>>
>>721167591
the tank lost it's charm after 15 minutes, then it just became tedious
>>
>>721167591
the only explanation is they spent so much development time on tank and decided that literal half of the game you should be using it
>>
I thought the bat-tank was actually fun (in my mind I was LARPing as a GITS tachikoma). Granted, I waited for years for the bugs getting fixed before playing the game.
>>
>>721167591
The problem is, driving around in the Bat Mobile is kino. It's just tedious having to convert into a tank every 5 minutes because you need to make a ramp or rev up some fucking power socket or shoot another hundred drones...
This game could have been toptier capeshit if they ditched the tank and kept to Paul Dini's original idea to end the trilogy. The Arkham Knight was gay and the twist was predictable.
>>
>>721167591
Because the designers were lazy. In a game like Arkham Asylum, they meticulously designed every corridor to be fun. Arkham City was lame because the interesting parts are always inside some buildings and not the city itself.
Arkham Knight was even worse because they said fuck the interiors too, lets pad this game with tank slop.
>>
>>721167591
There was too much of it, but I do enjoy using it. imo Knight is the best Arkham game. Best gameplay, offset by too much Batmobile but that's not such a huge flaw that it makes it worse than the others.
I just HATE that you need every single Riddler trophy to do the actual conclusion of his sidequest and get the true ending. No way in hell am I ever doing that.
>>
>>721167591
Driving around in the batmobile is more fun than just constantly zipline gliding from point A to B like in City and Origins.
>>
>>721169075
hated doing the riddler things in city and arkham, finding the trophies in asylum was actually fun
>>
>>721167591
>technically impressive
So impressive they had to un-release the PC port
I haven't pre-ordered a single game since getting my Steam refund for it
>>
from the way people talk about its release, i'm just glad i only played it for the first time like 2 years ago
>>
>>721167591
It's interesting to see, how "night time/interior" is mostly a solved problem at this point.
Games like this, and MGS Ground Zeroes literally simulate everything you can hope for. But the moment you switch to day time, and yikes its dogshit.

>>
>>721167591
The batmobile is actually very fun, its only problem is that the enemies you fight with it are inherently uninteresting. They should have made you fight human bosses with it, like Bane
>>
>>721167591
It's funny how they gave you a tank the second they implement civilians. You're going to give me the equivalent of GTA in a batman game, and not expect me to go on a carnage in Gotham City just because, I'm Batman? I literally went out of my way to crush taxis.
>>
>>721169712
for example the sequel nfs used the same engine as 2015, but allowed day time:

>>721167591
Is it worth playing?
I've beaten Arkham City 4~5 times now, it's my favorite Batlad game.
>>
>>721167591
The controls on PC are ass as well. Counters are unresponsive and Batman constantly darts behind himself to attack enemies he isn't focusing on. Game is a 3/10, would be a 6 with better PC controls and much less gay tank shit.
>>
>>721167591
The important people that made the original games had all left.
>>
>>721169873
>Is it worth playing?
absolutely
>>
>>721167591
>most technically impressive Batman game ever made
Anon we call that "unoptimized ue slop" now, get with the times.
Also the game was boring dogshit. So was Arkham City to a lesser extent
>>
>>721167591
>tank is like 1 hour at most if you're still utter shit
>game is about 12 hours

Stealth sections and stealth AI are being so wasted on this series. This pisses me off so much, because this series feels like it could be exactly what I want, but in the end it's not it. So close and yet so far away...
Arkham Knight in particular is annoying, since it introduced that stupidly fun dual character control and then barely made use out of it. Instead forcing racing game and world of tanks aspects into the game, which I couldn't give less of a flying fuck about. Half of the game is utterly worthless to me, all this effort which could be spent on stealth instead and multiple controllable characters. Catwoman missions are the high point of campaign.

Most fun I had was in those Challenges, I think I maxxed out pretty much all Stealth ones in City, Origins and Knight. I played few action ones and didn't even touch racing/tank

In my ideal game
>Batman, his sidekicks, allies and catwoman would all be playable with their own gadgets and tricks. Batman on it's own got stale in City already, focusing so much on him is retarded
>There wouldn't be any open world, just Dishonored/nuHitman bigger hub-missions designed around replayability and multiple ways to complete an objective
>Game would be fully designed around stealth and every mission designed to be played with every character
I also don't really care for capeshit aspect, it's completely superficial to me. Which is why that excuse that Batmobile is "part of Batman fantasy" does nothing to me. But capeshit does lend itself well to gameplay by providing an excuse for varied abilities and equipment for every character.

I really liked Arkham City. Had its own distinctive feel whilst still being Batman. Navigating the old Gotham ruins was fucking tedious and I didn't much care for all the League of Assassin stuff. Overall I think it hit a nice middle ground of the games. Not as confined and empty after completion as Asylum but not as over the top as Knight.

My ideal Batman game would basically be Dishonored except you play as Batman. You're given Batman's gadgets and abilities and it's up to you how to clear out a level/take on a boss with multiple different ways of tackling it.
I know immersive sims are basically dead as a genre but Batman lends himself perfectly to an immersive sim game.
>>
City, and the Arkham series in general, had such good boss fights that pertained to the story that, not only fleshed out the bosses themselves as who they were (iconic Batman gallery), but really made you feel like you were there, partaking as Batman himself and being the badass that he is. The power fantasy really captures me.

>that Mr. Freeze boss fight
Innovative and memorable. It felt 'true' to the Batman modus operandi.
>>
>>721175578
The only game with good boss fights was Origin.
City's only good fight is Mr Freeze really.
>>
>>721174335
This is objectively not true, anon.
>>
>>721169207
because the Riddler trophies in Asylum were actual riddles, not annoying physics puzzles
>>
>>721167591
Apparently they were really proud of it when it's even on cover on first plane.
>>
>>721177087
It may be. When I replayed the game two years ago, I was surprised how little the Batmobile showed up in the story. I even ended up enjoying it for the side content -- except for the Riddler races.
>>
>>721168505
Watching the developers trying to gaslight people into thinking it wasn't Jason Todd was hilarious when everyone called it the minute the game was announced.
>>
>>721169757
I enjoyed the Batmobile but the hide and seek tank fights were complete aids.
>>
>>721177087
It really is for the most part. You can argue that it might be moer driving around but from what I remember
The tutorial getting into the chemical labs, there's I think 4 tank battles? The bit in the sewers and one or two minor bits in the chem labs itself a nd I think one mandatory riddler race?

Honestly, it'd be about 45 minutes or so, depends on how much you actually redo/drive shit outside of when it's needed

>>721177532
I think the biggest problem is people get burned out on it too fast because they either do as much side stuff with it as possible or actually use it the prime way to get arouind when the best way is gliding/grapple boosting
>>
It's the only reason I haven't played the game to this day. Every time we have threads about it these anons appear to shit on the car combat. To be fair to them, it does seem that is will get boring very quickly.
Game is cheap enough that I might as well give a try these days, though. Before it gets delisted, too.
>>
>>721168010
>lost it is charm
post ignored
>>
>>721174364
I think the Batman games had really good stealth compared to most stealth games McDonough because of the dynamic. The best way I see it out is most stealth games were "stealth as prey" where you're trying to hide from enemies, whereas Batman has you doing "stealth as predator" where you're only hiding to take them down safer and easier, while hearing slowly losing it and shitting their pants gradually as more of them get taken out. It makes it very satisfying.

>charact
Rebirth batgirl suit worst suit for Babs.
>>
>>721174636
Well yeah that's more or less what I want. But I want to have few playable characters, preferably with that dual character gimmick possible as well
>>
>>721169873
I didn't enjoy it. Even beyond the shitty tank parts.
>>
>>721174335
Yeah, 1 hour per 1 hour of gameplay.
>>
>>721174636
That's literally what Batman Arkham Shadow is, except is for VR
>>
>>721181903
>trolling
anon, stop that
>>
If you put 2 upgrade points into the Batmobile for cannon speed and cannon headshot damage the sections get way less tedious.
>>
>>721182706
I also enjoyed the special ability to turn other tanks into allies. Split the enemy firepower.
>>
>>721169873
I like it, I think it's the best one.

Happy Batman day, fellas
New video about the new Lego Batman game, featuring James Gunn

>>721169873
It's easily the best Arkham game.
Has the best gameplay despite all the crying about Batmobile, and also had the best adaptation of Scarecrow
>>
>>721187045
This game's either gonna be kino or utter shit
>>
I just uninstalled it. I want to play a Batman game not some tank simulator.
>>
>>721167591
Crying over the bat tank is way overblown. Even (You) that's currently crying about it only "remembers" it was 90% of the game, assuming you even played the game at all to begin with.

TL:DR kill yourself.
