is there any hope for the mass effect franchise?
>>
>>721234554
There is none.
>>
>>721234554
Fuck Tali
>>
Absolutely none. Nor for BioWare, for that matter.
>>
Not after mass effect Andromeda, anthem, and dragon age veil guard. I'm surprised bioware is still allowed to make anything

yes, a hilarious troon trainwreck when ME4 comes out
>>
>>721234554
maybe in like 20 years when some new developer reboots it
>>
>>721234554
No.

The problem is mainly that the games were originally played by teenagers and young adults, and now the same people are 30-40 and are still the target audience but are more pretentious in their stated desires.

So they make a more "adult", more sensible and realistic game for them with less stereotypes, sexuality and tropes but in reality they don't really want that, and actually want a game aimed at teenagers with all the flaws they had just like the originals had.

The ME fanbase are kind of like women, that say then want you to respect them but they actually want you to call them a pigslut and pull their hair while slamming their cunt inside out.

I never understood why they never made smaller scale games set in the ME universe.
It's the same thing I see with Helldivers. They have this cool world full of interesting lore but seem completely unwilling to actually use it.

It's like having a 9 inch BWC but gooning to Roxanne Wolf all day.

Haven't cared about ME after 3 color ending. Though ME2 already showed some warning signs.

>>721234554
Nope.
Once upon a time it could have been a super cool sci-fi universe, but now it's just The Magical Adventures of Space Jesus Shephard forever.
>>
>>721234554
Lets be real,

The Mass Effect series was completely carried by its setting and lore, and partially by its art.
The gameplay was always mediocre, the dialogue/writing was cheesy nerd power fantasy-core, the graphics & animation were never anything to write home about with stiff mannequin movements and lack of good cutscenes,
Even the voice acting was never anything spectacular with only a couple of key standouts like Garrus or Wrex, the rest of the cast (Shep included) sounding incredibly wooden

And these games were made when Bioware was arguably in its prime.
Nowadays, they cant even manage to release a single good game, regardless of genre, without half the staff leaving and the game flopping.

Why would anyone have hopes for ME4

I mean, in 20 years, half the actors are dead by then. They're gonna recast Shepard and the crew after bringing them back. People that actually played the good games will be irrelevant, the people that liked the originals, but got into them through the LE will be 25 years too late for a sequel, not enough of them will remain ... you understand why that will fail, you don't need me telling you that.
Either Bioware makes a mid ME with Shepard and co. and somehow lives to make another game, or they make a mid game with Andromeda tier characters and it tanks. There really isn't any other hope for the franchise.
>>
>>721236550
Because in the AAA publisher space, it requires either licensing your IP, or other studios in your ownership picking up the IP of their own volition and coming up with a game, while having to cooperate with people that they think are fucking morons. EA isn't big into licensing, although they should be, and the other studios don't give a shit about ME, and most of all, don't want to work with the weirdos at Bioware.
>>
>>721237264
>>People will eat whatever shit you feed them.
Yeah. Like Andromeda, Anthem and Veilguard.
Oh, wait ...
>>
>>721238923
It's gonna have mid Owlcat sales. Maybe a little better, but it's not the fantasy, or RTwP style that they are known for, which may alienate much of their established fanbase.

Wont say it's impossible.
With the Reapers gone they can finally go back to letting you explore and experiencing the world.
But I swear if we get another "ancient evil is about to destroy the world" type of story, then it'll officially be time to put BioWare out to pasture.

>>
>>721234554
No.
The franchise, IP and setting was burned for money.

The setting was the only thing for it, and they chose a plot for the trilogy that would dismantle the rules of that setting. Reapers shouldn't have been defeated, they should have been treated as a source of episodic content, in a similar way Daedric Princes from TES or Chaos Gods from Warhammer are always the big enemy in a story but are also fundamentally undefeatable: because they are one of the fundamental reasons for the setting existing as it does.

The aftermath of the Reaper War, the various planets in the Galaxy
>>
>>721244293
How far in the future do you think you will be, in order to visit the various planets in the galaxy, to see the aftermath of the Reaper War?
>>
>>721244538
Liara's still alive.
We know they've gotten their own Relays up and running.
Couple hundred years maybe.
>>
>>721234554
None. It's Joever.
>>
>>721244581
What kind of aftermath do you expect to see after a couple hundred years? that's like visiting the 1800s, to see the aftermath of the black plague. It's like it never happened.
>>
>>721244697
Effects of the Batarian homeworld getting conquered so quickly, effects on Humanity over having the fate of the Galaxy fought at Earth, effects on the political status of the Galaxy having no relays for a prolonged period of time.
>>
>>721234554
the trilogy exists, ignore everything after that.
everything after that including the game that makes faces tired is made for faggots and trannies and therefore pointless because even faggots and trannies won't be buying it.
>>
>>721244782
At a few hundred years after ME3, all these are history. You won't feel any of that. Besides, if the trilogy is anything to go by, humanity is doing everything, and everyone else is just sitting this one out. You'll see a whole bunch of humans, and nothing else.

this wouldn't be hard to do. You have the basic background from the original games and just have to come up with new factions that have risen from the ashes. Imagine something like the height of the roman empire vs the dark ages
>>
>>721234554
Absolutely none
>>
>>721245038
>new factions that have risen from the ashes
You don't need Mass Effect to do that, though. It can be any franchise. Arguably, for returning ME fans this will feel very alienating.
>>
>>721245000
>At a few hundred years after ME3, all these are history.
No? We wont know how close to the game the new Relays will have begun to work.
>>
>>721245345
Judging by how nobody knows how a relay works, or how it took the Council races 2 years to not fix Tayseri Ward on the Citadel, with all the resources of Council space, and a working relay network, I'd say practically never.
>>
>>721234554
Not a chance.
I think the only decent sequel to ME3 would be an expansion set right after the ending, Awakening style. Ideally you'd play as a fan favourite like Garrus but since most characters can die a new character or a Destroy Shepard would have to do. Having the player deal with the aftermath of his choices would be a way to sort of deliver on their ending variation promise, though it's been far too long by now.
>>
>>721234554
I had a little bit of hope after the very first ME4 teaser, but since the last Dragon Age game release that hope has plummeted to absolute zero.

>for a gayer, more boring sci-fi setting that doesn't even have aliens in it
>all the worst companions in Mass Effect were the Human ones (beside Zaeed) and every companion in the Expanse is a Human
Its going to be so fucking terrible.
>>
>>721234554

The best part of Mass Effect's universe was envisaging all the rape taking place in it. all other details are there to flesh out an expansive well-developed universe for an especially immersive porno in which these rapes can be set.

It was a mistake to move the setting to Andromeda. What kind of rape is there to be had in a completely unsettled galaxy? Now, hardly any rape stories are produced compared to the heyday of Mass Effect in 2010-12
