This may just possibly be, the single lamest, gayest piece of shit that I've had the misfortune of experiencing. Holy fucking shit.

Did this game at least fill that Dishonored niche?
>>
It's bad but it's not that level of bad
>>
>>721237776
No. Dishonored 1 & 2 are great games, I don't give a shit what /v/ says. This is easily the worst game Arkane has ever made.
>Muh Prey 2017
Prey is good.

If you're a seasoned player of imsims it can feel underwhelming for sure. It's also evident from their marketing material that they initialy want it to be much more complex but they still have to sell tons of copies to normies. Keep in mind it released after Prey and D2, both games filtered too many people.

It's still a good game, if you play well you can finish it quickly and it has some very good art and level design. Consider it an entry point into the imsim autism, like skyrim is baby's first rpg.

What the fuck is KarmaStar and how come I never heard of it?

>KarmaStar is a 2009 mobile video game from Arkane Studios. Gameplay. KarmaStar is a strategy game that represents an entire life in just eight turns, as players control a spaceman who must acquire resources — love, money, family, intelligence...
Oh... Nevermind.
>>
>>721239970
They wanted to do it long before everyone went crazy with soulslikes. Look up The Crossing.

>>
>>721237903
What was so bad about it other than the black factor?
>>
>>721239523
Prey is full of homosexuals and the writing is just shit overall. Unfortunate since the gameplay is mostly great
>>
>>721239990
all they had to do was make black dynamite not something retarded

>Unfortunate since the gameplay is mostly great

The foam gun is great and some environments are cool looking, but that's about it.
>>
>>721237728
The concept of a exploring a small number of maps that change depending on what you do in the loop is interesting, but I don't think any sane person enjoys playing the levels this many times.
>>
>>721239990
>Blaxxxploitation
That shit can actually be fun if you full 100% with it. But they had to sterilize it.
My issue with Doom TDA as well. They went with that sword & sorcery / dark fantasy / heavy metal theme. Cool. Now go crazy with it. Nope, here's safe and neutered corporate version of it that won't offend anyone.
>>
>>721240339
I liked the fall-break upgrade and climbing and stuff
>>
>>721240254
>the writing is just shit overall
I liked the brother and all interactions with him. Other than that the writing was bland and forgettable.
>>
>>721240442
It can become an issue for sure, when you first start the game you have many options before you and the maps have different places the size of regular dishonored levels for you to explore, like Charlie's escape game. But as you progress in the game and find the ways to prepare for the final loop those options diminish, by that point you're only meant to blitz through the maps and do the specific objectives required to finish the game.
>>
>>721240089
>mobile
it is their first female catered game
>>
>>721240254
Prey's main story writing feels bland, the game tells much more interesting stuff with its environnement and interaction, the first few hours of the game being some of the best sequence ever produced in a video game.
But if you look through it with a technical perspective they did an insane job, not only you have the story told by characters you meet but there are also several backstories told through terminal mails. They bothered to name every human character you may find, dead or alive, and they bothered to make sure mail received and sent by terminals could tracked to the terminal they communicated with. It must have been an absolute time and money sink to tell stories nobody ever bothered to read just for sole purpose of making a perfectly believable place.
And everything in that game is like that, it's truly a gem of game design, if they had more time to finetune the pace of the game and fix the bugs it would have reached a wider audience.
>>
>>721240957
The problem is that all these people on the station are sleepinducingly boring compared to shenanigans of SS2 for example. Was there a lot of effort in creating the characters? Yes. Did it result in something exciting? No.
>>
>>721239905
Unlike you my penis is not mutilated...
>>
>>721240231
I'm not op, but the lack of maps and repeating tasks was lame.
>>
I'll think I'll pirate it. I'm in the mood for some imsimish fun after beating SS Remake and Skin Deep.
>>
>>721240957
>the game tells much more interesting stuff with its environnement and interaction, the first few hours of the game being some of the best sequence ever produced in a video game.
Agreed.
>not only you have the story told by characters you meet but there are also several backstories told through terminal mails
I legitimately struggled and failed to remember most of those characters and subplots/backstories even as I was playing the game. Would have helped if the character faces were displayed in menu and in the emails, but not convinced any of them would have been worth remembering.

I was definitely impressed by that early in the game, but by the end I realized that most characters are just a tiny little blip relegated to their specific sector of the ship. Respect the effort but it was wasted.

Dishonored >Deathloop>Dishonored 2 >DoTo as far as Dishonored games go.
>>
>>721239990
The game isn't blacksploitation. In fact there is 0 black culture in this game. Not even the main character acts black he just acts like a French schizo.
>>

>>721241413
It can't be that good.
Dishonored 2 was heavily flawed but still a good game.
>>
Why didn't they cast regular normal humans as the protagonists?

I share the same experience and feeling

The sad truth of Prey and it extends to most of the game, even the good parts are hard to appreciate at first sight and they needed a more talented writer to keep the player hooked, Talos 1 suffers from existing in the same industry with Rapture, the Von Braun and ironicaly Dunwall and Karnaca

But Arkane learned, among the criticisms we can get on deathloop the story and world isn't one of them, the characters are well written, the visionaries are all memorable and blackreef has a strong visual identity

I liked it. It's pretty much Dishonored with a timeloop mechanic and one of the most original games I've played in a while. The only thing woke about it is the nigger and constant jive. Redfall is the worst game Arkane made by a mile and it's not even close.
>>
>>721237728
It really wasn’t that bad I had a good time with it but I rarely think about this game.
>black mans?????
Who cares, black people exist. As long as it isn’t anti-white, and it’s not, who fucking cares.
>>
>Advertised as cool time loop that allows you to experiment with different approaches to the assassinations, leading to high replayability
>is just an on rails bore with reused assets for 0 reason, the time loop is irrelevant

>>721237728
deathloop was great. shouldn't have given you access to a suppressed weapon until much later in the game though. also should've leaned more into being part of the dishonored world.
