>>721252796
>>721254803newfag
>>721254803Yes. Some challenge runner made a highly autistic video forever ago about beating SM64 with as little A button inputs as possible. iirc he managed to do it with a single press and hold that he held down the entire run. He referred to this as "half of an A press" because his autism only lets him see a complete button press as being a press and release. Some other autist, with an avatar of orange yoshi with the visor the one guy from pheonix wright, known as Henry called him out on it. The two sparked a big autism debate/drama over what constitutes a full or partial input.

>>721255652>see a complete button press as being a press and releasekind of true since a button press is usually 3 different inputs. press down, constant input from being pressed down and release. not sure how it was with n64 but most more modern devices treat it that way

>>721258772>not using technopathyNGMI
>>721256538I can't say I've heard of any hardware or software that treats the release as a third input. It's typically 'press and release' is one input and 'press and hold' is an alternate input. I suppose you could add more inputs based on the length of time a button is pressed or how many times it's pressed and released in a certain timeframe (i.e. double click) or any combination thereof, but that's all software, not hardware. That aside, iirc SM64 did not have any normal press and hold mechanics. What that one runner was doing was some sort of exploit involving holding the button through a load screen/scene transition.
