I'm not a tendie so I wasn't following reviews when it came out. Just played two hours, how the fuck did this get 75 average? There's no reason to fight enemies, so why are they in the game. I don't feel like playing anymore if the choice is either pointless combat or avoiding enemies for 20 hours.
>why is this girls game so ezDrink more water.
>It's okay when Bloodborne does it
You're so special anon.
>>722002925It's not
>>722002271yeah the game design is straight up broken. the worst part is that unlike SPM this one doesn't even have a story or a single unique character, setting, etc. imagine making a game and your requirement is you're not allowed to put anything new in it, they unironically had to do that
Paid reviews / reviewers thinking it's not acceptable to rate a first party nintendo game under 7/10.This game broke me, it was the turning point in my life where I stopped being hyped for new games of existing franchises I loved and became skeptical of all new games.
>>722002271Nintendo bonus
>>722002271Because any game that functions properly automatically gets at least a 7. People have this dumbass idea that if it displays a level of professional craftsmanship, even if the design and content are fucking horrendous, a game can't be "bad".
>>722002271>avoidingeven better. start the fight then run away. they die as if you wonit gets worse the more you play. needing to item babysit and backtrack for 1 specific sticker for a nonsense puzzle becomes normal
It's really that bad huh? I knew about the poor reception but this was still on my list for a while. Is the Wii u game any better?
>>722002271It was a 3ds launch title. I liked it enough to play through it. The 3d effect was novel enough at the time. The things were really annoying. Since you could only keep one and you always needed to save it for some """puzzle"""
>>722003217>make RPG game with expansive world and shit tons of dialogue>remove all the RPG elements>be forced to play sockpuppet with officialy approved PNGs of Mario charactersThere's people who still defend the approach these games were forced to take because canon reasons and it blows my mind how people can have sych abysmal taste.>>722003827I hate it even more. It's much wordier yet still every bit as souless, and the combat is just as broken and the boss battles don't leat you any wiggle room, you NEED to find a specific thing to beat the bosses. I think it's even worse, at least Sticker Star doesn't have fans.
>>722003828It was not, the game came out 6months after the console release. There already were better games using the 3d effect well.
>>722003742based chair watcher
>find big 2x2 sticker>have four spaces free but they make L shape>can't reorder stickers manually so you have to throw them away until 2x2 square is free
>>722002271>how the fuck did this get 75 average? You have to remember that during the first few years of the 3DS, people were fucking desperate for games and Paper Mario fans were starved.
>>722003827Outside of people saying the writing being a bit better it kinda just doubles down on and maintains some of sticker star's issues and adds some new ones.
>>722003827It's a game with turn-based combat where every action is a consumable item in the form of stickers, so you can't do anything in battle without wasting resources. The only thing you gain from battles is coins to replenish the actions you just wasted. And there's no random encounters so you can just walk around all the enemies and avoid fighting with zero consequences. From a design standpoint it's just shit. Combat is the only thing you can do and there's no reason or need to engage with it. Boss battles basically require you to have a single correct sticker or you're fucked, and there's no indication of which one you're supposed to bring. How about the story? Bowser kidnapped Peach again. There's no compelling characters, no unique settings, and it's not even fun to play. You can save yourself 20 hours and experience everything good the game has to offer by listening to the music on youtube.
>>722003827Color Splash is worse from a gameplay perspective. It doesn't matter if they gave you a better partner. It doesn't matter if the overworld is less generic. It doesn't matter if the chapters are more creative. The combat is objectively worse. They basically took the sticker book, added extra inputs, made it worse to flip through, and made the Things mandatory for boss battles. Now if you don't have the right Thing and use it at the right time, you instantly die.
