CD Projekt Red goes to certain companies and essentially licenses their IP to make fixed versions of their games to dump on their storefront.

But they're not the same divisions. GOG is floundering. The game is successful elsewhere, so you cut your unprofitable side.
People like to talk about MS products tanking (like the Xbox). They cut those products, despite the company as a whole printing money.
>>722029107
>downloading 50 individual files for some games
>then installing it after the fact
>nevermind the fact that the web page download system is ungodly slow
Picrel is a game with 14 individual parts to download. I'm getting 7.6MB/s. I get nearly 25x that speed on Steam. I can break 100MB/s on Galaxy, but that's still slow as balls.
>>

>>
>>722029303
>People like to talk about MS products tanking (like the Xbox). They cut those products, despite the company as a whole printing money.
Isn't the exact opposite of this true
Xbox has lost money for 24 of the 25 years it's existed and it's propped up entirely by the Windows and Office money printers in the same building
>>
They even asked for tips last time I bought something, I threw them $5 because why the hell not, but it's seriously concerning that pretty much the only incentive for preserving old games is moral principle/charity because it's not profitable in the slightest it seems.
>>
>>722029503
You're agreeing with me via a misread. Xbox has flopped dramatically for 3 out of 4 generations. It's getting a restructure as the ultimate multiplat console or a complete drop of the console (rumors say both, so it's uncertain what they'll settle on). MS can afford to lose on it in hopes of the big payday due to other incredibly profitable ventures, but they're at the point where they're going to cut their losses and try other things.
This happened before with the Zune and other flops.

CDP is in a relatively similar situation. CDPR generates fucktons of money, and GOG is flopping. CDP as a whole is doing well, but they're eventually going to decide losing money on GOG isn't worth it.

They won't kill GOG, it's the the reason CD Projekt was founded. They could definitely be less retarded in running it, though.
>>
I'm sure GOG was/is making profit but CD Project skewed/is skewing the numbers by offloading their Studio Red losses to the store.
>>
I would buy from gog, but key sites only ever use steam. I also use steam's controller overlay a lot and don't want to constantly have to add non-steam games, which look lame as well because their pages aren't populated with anything in the library.
So I'm bound to steam.

Can we blame this on France for suing them and forcing them to go public?

The thing is they suck. They censor like removing that Taiwan horror game and said it was due to "after feedback from concerned gamers!" They have no spine as shown when Postal 2 came to GoG they tweeted a video of Dude pissing on a grave that said "video game journalism" then removed it and apologize "we did not meant to post a gamergate reference, which is a hate movement!" They do not add LAN to games because they actually want you to use their shitty launcher for multiplayer (so much for being about freedom and anti-DRM) and then they give half-ass support to Linux if any at all. They are just worthless in general and have always half-assed their actual mission statement.

As someone who don't care about PC; only retards didn't know this was going to happen, everytime somebody brought up GOG was as a some sort of crusade against Steam trying to deny Valve's monopoly and control over PC game software. Therefore as any retarded crusade trying be contrary denying reality is bound to meet an inminent failure

Steam's success was so big you can't stop being cucked by their game renting in disguise and everyone else was fighting a lost battle. The truth is; masses don't give a shit about that, only price and Steam won that long ago and has the name recognition so anyone that has lower prices is reduced to getting the crumbles left
