When was the last time you went to a Gamestop? How insufferable was the experience?>probably around 2015>was going to get my brother some 3DS games for his birthday>okay for the most part until the dude behind the counter kept blithering on and on about upcoming games and if I'd like to reserve anything>finally say "can I please just pay for these and go?"
>2012>vita just came out>try the demo unit>thought it was okay but not worth the $300>put it back on the holder thing>walk around the store>it falls off on its own>store clerk raises hell at me since I was the last one to touch it>never go back
>about a year after covid started>see a sign saying masking is required for entry>do a 360 and walk away
>>722092014>Buy a game, beat it that day>Go back to same GameStop with same clerk and try to trade it in for a few bucks for more games>Was told the disc was to scratched for a trade inI never went back. This was like 2008
last week unironically. traded in a couple of games and put the credit towards a preorder of 007 first light. hopefully the store is still around in March.I'm a good looking man, and the ugly (although fuckable) girls behind the counter were visibly taken aback someone of my stature was in there. got my receipt, and drove off in my S5.

I bought a switch 2 there a few months ago, the guy kept asking if I wanted some gamestop protection plan for it which was a little annoying but it was fine otherwise.
>>722092014a couple years ago to buy SV for the niblingsnever again
few years ago, I forgot what forused to always preorder stuff from the same gamestop but I've lost interest in physical mostlythat, and the one game series I always preordered (etrian odyssey) hasn't had a game in ages
>>722092014Went to see if they had a physical copy of Visions of Mana when it came out. Turns out Amazon had a month's exclusivity or something. Not a bad experience, it's just they didn't have what I wanted.
>>722093917I forgot to say it's always been a nice gamestop, though when I called to check if they had a switch 2 in stock the clerk asked if I meant a "nintendo switch 2" so I guess their current clerk is a smarmy prick if he's still employed
>>722092014Just before last christmas to get gifts for my son. It wasn't that bad actually. The clerks were two stoned guys that didn't try to push bullshit on me, most of the customers were either parents doing the same thing I was or kids looking at games. There was a lot of weebshit though. Like half the store was gaming stuff, and the other half was clothing, toys, and merch from Japan. I ended up getting some switch games, a pair of matching DBZ hoodies for me and my son, and some Ghiblis mini figures for the wife because she loves that shit.
>>722092014Around 2009? lol
>>722092014>2017>gamestop says if you pre order yakuza 0 through them they will give you a poster>might as well, I walk by a gamestop on the way to class every day>go to pick up my yakuza 0 on release day>no poster>ask if they have gravity rush 2 since it just came out a few days earlier>they don'tfuck you gamestop
Honestly, hard to even think. Probably early 2010s or late 2000s. The last time I can actually remember going into one was to pick up me pre-order of Haze, which I returned after playing it and realizing I got scammed by that piece of shit game. It was about that time that I switched primarily to gaming on PC anyways, so I started just buying games digitally on steam at the time, and occasionally getting a physical copy for my xbox 360 through target or wal mart.

>>722092014>When was the last time you went to a Gamestop?Last week.>How insufferable was the experience? Not at all. I asked the clerk for a code card for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and they said they sold out instantly the moment they opened that day, because that promo coincided with the release of a new TCG set, so all the speculator investorfags were there, and Gamestop's corporate Facebook page advertised getting a code card along with a new TCG set. They said it was frustrating and they didn't get anywhere near as many code cards as they requested, and to watch the Facebook page if there's gonna be another run of the cards.
>>722092014Can't remember the date, but it had to be around 2013ish or even later. Was looking around trying to find a copy of Zoids Battle Legends. Managed to find one at a GameStop about 40mins away.
Why did their business model go from just simply selling videogames to decorating their entire store with surface-level ideas of what they consider "nerd interest?" I can't remember the last date I visited one, but I can remember well entire portions of shelves had things like plushies, Funko pops, cards and other little trinkets. Then the person trying to sell them to me or ask me if I did some tabletop or had some internet account on some website and like other's have said I'm just wondering "can i buy my fucking game and go." It would be like going to a grocery store, and they try to sell you life-insurance because of some vague, passing connections to shopping and insurance. I'm sure thats why they're failing, besides digital but it just never made any fucking sense to me. Maybe in a comicbook store but for the most part in any specialty store, people just wanna buy what they want and leave.
Maybe like 2012? The last time I passed by one it looked absolutely dead inside.
>about 3 years ago>saw a clearance sign on my local gamestop>walked in>games were flops or already own>saw a $30 controller >took it to the counter>it was $60>told the clerk the tag showed $30>gave me an eye and applied the discount>got home and checked amazon>it had it at $20Fuck gamestop, I will never go again>the clearance sign is still there
>2020-2021, don't remember>try to buy game>when i take the box to the counter they take the game out of a paper sleeve and put it in>they still charge New prices for it even though it's clearly open>walk out without the gameI still don't understand why they do this shit. There's so many better ways of showing off what's in stock. Even before that there was no reason to go there most of the time because the walmart across the parking lot sold games cheaper.
A few weeks ago. Was looking for a deal on PS4 controller, they didn't have one. I was at another location a couple months ago looking for PS4 games. I picked out RDR2, and the guy gave it to me for free because they had one more copy than their inventory system indicated.
>>722092014>2023 a week after black Friday>was given the job by an old fren who became store manager>my first day a dude comes in saying he wants a refund for a controller and has no receipt>screams at us to kill ourselves as he walks out>2 hours later we get a phone call during some weird rush. woman on the phone asks me to find a composite to hdmi converter.>inform her we have no more as she is the 5th person to ask.>"well you just aren't doing your fucking job. you are lazy"made me sad the rest of the day ;m;
The last time I went was last year. There were two employees. One was arguing with a methhead about why they wouldn't take his non functional PS4 and the other one was arguing with some tryhard business bro about PSA Pokémon card grading.Just kinda stood in line for 15 minutes while all that occurred and left.
>last week>trading games and wii u for store credit because I'm too lazy to sell them on ebay>the split second I walk in the door, this mousy blonde haired nerdy bitch said "We don't have any cash left in the register. We can't accept anymore sales.">bitch didn't even let me open up my mouth to explain what I was there to do>tell her I wanted store creditAlso, the tine before that>walk in with some stuff to exchange for store credit>fat nerd guy asked me if I could come back later because he hasn't had his break yet
Can't remember, but its been awhile. >See clearence rack with various stuffed toys>Definitly not going in for vidya since their new shit isn't actually new and locals have cheaper used>Find a discounted Rowlet toy>Go to check out>Trying to upsell me on pre-orders, memberships, magazines, and other shit>Tell them I'm good>"You'd be an idiot not to get the membership with how much you can save">Save the $10 or whatever the doll was by just walking out of the store
>preorder Rebirth special edition, make sure to specify the special edition, clerk confirms price as well to make sure (90$)>show up to get it>uh we’re all out did you preorder it>I did>we don’t have any special edition preorders >Literally just leave and get the game at Target insteadHaven’t been back since
>>722092014I happened to be at the mall and went in to buy a game I was getting anyway. The clerk that day for some reason pressed for the membership and asked why I haven't bought anything from Gamestop in a while. It wasn't horrible but I'm really used to the dgaf attitude of the guys in my old state.
>>722093315Senpai teach me your ways. Also only gays drive Audis.
>>722092014Still not selling
>>722092014I went there last december to get an OLED Switch. It was fine, except there was only one guy working there and there was a customer in line front of me who kept taking FOREVER trying to buy or haggle or some other thing that made me think "Why is this taking so long."
A few months ago. Wanted to see if there was aything on the older side. Found both Sonic 0shit and Sonic and the Secret Shart.
