And it's not even close, holy shit this game is fun
>>

JWE2 had a crap base game but good dlc, is this one a more front-loaded?
>>
>>724741437
how different is it from 2? because I refunded 2

I've only liked 1 so far.
>>
3 pretty much makes the first two feel redundant.
>>
>>724741745
>>724741746
Never played 2, sorry. But 3 is fucking awesome. You can create your park however you want and the the amount of interactions and scenarios is amazing.
>>
>>724741956
You mean the games or the movies?
>>
>>724741956
Aren't sequels supposed to do that?

How often do dinosaurs break out? How crippling is it if your T-rex starts eating the guests?

is the new one fun the only zoo management game i've played was pic rel along with their expansions
>>
>>724742965
Not necessarily? The Last of Us Part II doesn’t make Part I redundant for instance.
>>
>>724743251
Yeah, it's much deeper than Zoo Tycoon 2, it makes ZT2 looks like a child's game.
>>
>>724743449
Then doesn’t that make Last of us part 2 a bad sequel?
>>
>>724741437
other than babies and the custom buildings/terrain whats different and good? sell it to me cause i wanna buy it but it looks derivative if you own 2 already
>>
So it's actually good? I recently got the second game but haven't played it. Do all the dlcs carry over? Are there gay feathered dinos?
>>
>>724743670
It's much better than 2.
>>
>>724743689
No, some of the dinos in 2 will be DLC for 3. Feathered dinos are historically accurate.
>>
>>724743931
Hey shill, he asked how its different. Also how have you fags not figured out how to make the saurupods fight bakc yet?

It very well may be, but I prefer OG, the OG.

Prehistoric Kingdom is copying its combat system and making it more realistic, it'll be the spiritual successor to JPOG when it's done.
>>
>>724742764
>You can create your park however you want
You could do that in 1 too. So what really is different here?
>>
>>724741437
Eh...looks the same as 2. What's the improvement?
>>
>>724744638
can you jump into a helicopter or land cruiser and shoot dinosaurs/take pictures? for me that's an important part of the experience. you can delegate those things but being able to do them manually adds a lot of charm to the experience.
>>
>>724744638
The problem is PK is looking like shit in 2025. Its been 10 years and the game isn't out yet. The UI is atrocious in this decade.

Its over for PK
>>
>>724741746
>how different is it from 2? because I refunded 2
It's the same game but with breeding (which means male and juvenile alts for all dinosaurs), Planet Zoo style modular buildings and significantly improved terrain tools. It's a big step if you're in it for creative mode and building pretty parks but it's still utterly braindead as a management sim.
>>724743175
>How often do dinosaurs break out?
Literally never on a normal build because they only even try to if their needs aren't met and it's trivial to do so. They will, however, regularly clip through your fences during social animations because it STILL doesn't check their positions correctly (this was a problem in the previous games too) and get out that way.
>How crippling is it if your T-rex starts eating the guests?
Basically irrelevant. They can kill dozens without majorly harming your bottom line.
>>
>>724744932

I still think the most insane design decision in these games is making storms cripple attractions so you make fuck all money during them. They're the only time animals are going to escape so your should be forced into the decision of "do I keep everything open and risk my guests getting eaten, or do I open the emergency bunkers as soon as the weather report comes in and tank my finances until it's over?" but your finances tank anyway so there's never a reason to stay open during them.
>>

It looks beautiful, nigga, dafuck you talking about? And the UI is not a problem at all, I'm the stupidest nigga there is and if I could get used to the UI then so can you.

>>
>>724745080
I'm on a 5080 and 9800X3D and it does start to chug a bit if I leave the ray tracing on when the park starts getting larger, yeah. Fine with it off though.

No, it's a bad sequel for different reasons. Sequels should improve the gameplay but with story heavy games like TLOU the old games will never be made obsolete since it's still just one narrative being told

PK is absolutely gorgeous and the dinosaurs don't feel gay even tho they're scientifically accurate. JWE3 has a much understandable and easier to use UI and the gameplay is more varied. Also, mod support.
As it stands, PK is still a dollhouse simulator when it comes to gameplay and lacks when compared to JW or JPOG. But it is a game with extreme potential.
If they add mod support to the game and add more gameplay mechanics it'll probably be the best dinosaur park manager to have ever been released.
>>
>>724749402
i get what youre saying but the game's behind around for a long ass time at this point. if the potential you speak of cant be reached in any meaningful manner in nearly a decade, i dont think its gonna change any time soon.
i dont doubt its still a good game in its own right, but yknow if i played it and couldnt honestly say its better than JPOG, from 22 fuckin years ago, its a hard sell.
>>
>>724749569

also, i will say i appreciate the inclusion of other prehistoric creatures and going a bit outside the dinosaur wheelhouse. with a larger scope and again, mod support, this could be way cooler
>>

Can you 'retire' dinosaurs with lethal ordinance yet or are they still following the faggy Universal Studios "You can't shoot the dinosaurs" rule they implemented a decade ago?
>>

>>

>>
>>724750283
How does it feel to have your trilogy of park-builder games completely shat on Lore-Wise by Trespasser, a complete flop of a game?
Why are you trying to shill a game that can't even reach 1998 standards?
>>
There's so many interesting things you could do with a Jurassic Park builder that these games don't even try. It presents caring for prehistoric animals as trivial when it could be throwing stuff like "herbivore shit doesn't decompose properly because the microbes that used to do it no longer exist, we have to let the compys eat it because THEIR shit does decompose" or the dinosaurs getting sick from modern plantlife so you have to figure what the fuck part of their habbit is causing it by removing parts one by one and observing them. There's a really cool simulation game here that they don't even try to get at. It's just a vehicle to watch pretty dinosaur animations.
>>
I don't usually fall for the "durr u r shill" line of thinking but this thread clearly has at least one or two posters who certainly act like they're getting paid to promote the game.

JPOG actually kinda did this where if you have modern trees in your dino's exhibit they'll get gastric poisoning so you have to either feed them with feeders or plant expensive paleo trees

Crichton and scientists of the day knew dinosaurs were not the slow retarded animals depicted in movies. Hence the whole point of the novel is that 'lol whoops actually dinosaurs were supercharged MONSTERS which outclass mammals by far'
Raptors can bite through steel bars, and don't even die to a brain-shot immediately.

This is now a Trespasser thread.
Fun fact!
The three tribes of raptor have increasingly high HP.
Tribe A has 50
Tribe B has 75
Tribe C has 100
The final boss raptor has three times regular HP, at 300.
But the sizes of raptors are not linearly increasing, Tribe A and C are identical in size, but Tribe B is considerably larger than A and C

>>724743175
Dinosaurs don't break out if their needs are met, they will literally never try the fences just because so weather is the only reason.
I buy these games but nothing ever truly catches the magic of JPOG somehow, guests with different needs is pretty much all the third game needs at this point. Maybe in the fourth game
>>
>>724751596
Is there anything JPOG didn't do? Holy shit, go play that instead then.
>>
>>724756935
Frontier has to do what Universal says when it comes to how the game is made. I'm sure they wanted to make Zoo Tycoon with a JP skin, but it took two other games for Universal to let em.
>>
>>724757392
>Is there anything JPOG didn't do?

>>724756935
Because they want Evolution to have mass appeal and some of the mechanics in Planet Zoo are very autistic and off putting to normalfags.
>>
>>724751428
>oh no, my dino is sick
>let me remove each tree one by one to see which one is causing this
>*3 hours later*
>aha! Found it, now my dino will be fine
>*rinse and repeat for the other dinos in your zoo*
wow, such fun gameplay huh?
>>
>>724757629
It seems self-defeating to advertise a zoo game and not have zoo mechanics. Like the guests were just a number in a practical sense. It's not like you needed a gamekeeper using a gigantic poop sucker in the t-rex enclosure or some shit.
It's quite appalling that the only times things go wrong is when one "faction" isn't catered to enough, which would just lead to players inching forward in all three. First game didn't even have herds or pack behaviour. As far as that one went it was a pretty JPEG generator
>>

>Is there anything JPOG didn't do?
tons of stuff actually
there's like no room for customization since every building has exactly one look
there's only a few dinosaur species and each member of a species is identical (I know they're supposed to be clones but they should at least show signs of aging)
there's no interesting species that shoot venom or other cool stuff like dilophosaurus
land cruiser and balloon path setup is aggravating, as is landscaping
the land cruiser is missing the gate that allows it to pass between enclosures (as shown on one of the CD covers, this was particularly infuriating to my brother who brings it up every time we talk about the game)
there's no way to automatically breed dinosaurs to replace old ones or maintain a prey population for your predators (you have to manually do it every time you get an URGENT MESSAGE FROM DR. SATTLER)
there's an arbitrary limit on the number of guests and dinosaurs you can have in the park at once, how many of a building type you can have, plus limits on island size and fossil dig sites
the camera can only hold 10 shots at a time so you have to delete some pictures to make room for more (and the more photos you have the lower your score will be for subsequent shots)
the fact that you can build in any weather and build everything instantly means you can just replace any fence that gets destroyed by a twister without worrying about dinos escaping
there's no way to fast forward
there are no aquatic or flying creatures
there's no risk of dinosaurs breeding or managing to escape while the fences are intact
there's no genetic modification lab where you can create dinosaurs that are better tourist attractions (i.e. either fiercer carnivores or cuter herbivores)
there's no day and night cycle, nor do guests need to sleep

some of these things are rectified through mods or editing values in the game data and the game did a lot of things right, but it still feels incomplete.
>>
I played the 1st one and really liked it but didn't like 2 anywhere near as much since the new gimmicks to me felt like it only made the game worse so is 3 better?

>in a Jurassic Park game
Sorry, but if they can't event try to adapt new designs to fit the established Stan Winston style then it's simply not a Jurassic game and I'm simply not interested.
No other games from JP's inception till the Telltale game - a span of nearly two decades, mind you - ever had this problem.
Call me when some mods come out to make them look like they belong with the first three films.
>>
>>724741437
I'm really not sure why it took 3 games for the customization to be on par with planet coaster and planet zoo but this game is a blessing. I really thought they were gonna leave it after 2
>>

Nobody loved this game more than me but I really don't understand the clinginess to it. Maybe if JWE1 was all that existed but 2 alone made this game obsolete.

Because it literally was, Blue Tongue wanted to add more dinosaurs and implement flying and marine reptiles, and probably some of the stuff you mentioned missing, you can even easily find the file that list most of them, pic is from my own installation.

Many of the dinos have alternate skins that you unlock on the base game, you want your Velociraptor to look like those JPIII feathered or just plain scaly OG JP, you can.

>No, some of the dinos in 2 will be DLC for 3
All JW2 dinos (that include all JW1 and JPOG roster) that aren't on JW3 base game will be added as free updates over time, so the paid DLC will be new species.

With all that said, I was expecting them to expand on the Paleozoic and Cenozoic roster, but I guess the family mechanic means we can have mammals now, if they decide to have a Ice Age expansion.
