What killed your faith in game journalism?
I honestly never paid attention to themStill dont pretty muchI just watch the game trailers and leave my thoughts at that unless im interested enough
Journalists have always been subhuman retards. They just share their shitty ass opinions more today than simply reporting.
Need a good youtube video that just tears into the stealth system in these games. Todd Howard's games have the worst stealth which is weird considering a lot of other Bethesda games do it right. You can't choke people out I don't get it these games rely on cheap tricks for the stealth to work like invisibility tech/abilities and what not.
>>7379934075 guys.
I never had much faith in it to begin with, but the two main catalysts for me were Gone Home and Bioshock Infinite.
Today I will remind them.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yYp8ZeQ-I8
Starfield NPCs just had extremely overtuned awareness that let them spot your ass with ease, even if you had invested all 4 ranks in to maxxing out that Stealth skill.of course you can handwave this by saying "they have sensor modules built into their space helmets" which begs the question of why there aren't stealth accessories to fuck with sensors?

>>737993407when they were all caught lying about their connections and being on the same mailing list back in the burgers and fries days. that also seriously hurt my trust in normal media too because they covered it on NPR and either NPR or the bbc which was then played on NPR interviewed some guy and then asked him the same question like 7 times and then basically asked him to say something and then cut out half of his answer so they could get the sound clip they wanted to play on the radio and then he posted the whole interview on his youtube channel and the thing they had him say on NPR was completely out of context and the opposite of what he was actually saying and that's why I primarily get my news from /pol/ leaks on other boards

The biggest problem with journos is that they don't face any consequencesthey can blatantly lie, but who is going to hold them accountable? when the game becomes a massive failure and it's obvious that the journos lied, they're already acting like nothing happened reviewing something else and getting paid to lie
The kind of person who becomes a video game journalist is not a serious person and should never be taken seriously with anything. I have more respect for neets than I do vidya journalists, what a pathetic "career"

>>737993407I haven't used a single game journalist review as a basis for figuring out whether or not I should get a game for close to 20 years now. Even back when I used to buy and read gaming magazines (like PSM), I didn't even read them for reviews. I read them for news or for sexy images (because back then, in the pre-woke days, gaming journalists didn't have any problem with female sex appeal).Back then, in the pre-YouTube days, I didn't use their reviews because they simply didn't ever go deep enough. I'd just go to gaming forums and ask people what they thought about specific games I'm interested in. Of course, over the years, I learned more and more about how either corrupt or hypocritical they tended to be. Nowadays, either I use forums (like I ask /v/ or /vr/ or, if there's a general dedicated to it, /vg/ about specific games and try to find out as much as I can about the game I'm interested in from people who have deep-dived into the games).
>>737993407The fact that starfield got low scores from journalists shows they're retarded and working towards their own agenda. Kill all journaists, starfield is game of the generation.
>>737993407It must prove how impotent and incompetent journalists are when they tried to attack starfield for hurting their pet trannies and then losing because it went on to become the best selling game of the generation.

My trust in gaming journalism has been on death's door for a long time, but Rise of the Ronin getting the same 7/10 score on IGN that they also gave to garbage like Dustborn, The Callisto Protocol and Fallout 76 was the final nail in the coffin for me.

>>737997783I'm like that whenever I have to play an FPS with a controller.
>>737997656Game journalists want to be taken seriously. Yet gaming news companies never bother to create any sort of accreditation organizations to ensure that journalists have basic levels of required competency. Imagine if someone who wants to professionally review FPS titles for news outlets was required to get a certification to prove that he can do basic shit like moving and shooting at the same time. It seems ridiculous at first that I'm proposing something like this, but considering how many gaming journalists fail this basic bar, I feel like it's absolutely necessary.
>>737993407I never really had any faith in them, but all of them rushing to defend Mass Effect 3 was a wake up call that they were all evil.
>>737993407When Gears of War came out, I decided to use it as a test to see whether the game journos had actually turned into western AAA shills. That didn't look like a 9/10 game to me. A 9/10 is a true classic like Diablo 2, Super Mario World, etc. Even if you don't like the genre, you can tell that you're playing something special. It was really boring. Just run forward, find the next bit of cover, and shoot. Corridor shooter movie game slop. I haven't trusted a game journo review score since. Everything that I've seen since then shows me that they've gotten worse, not better.
