Cry of fear scared the shit out of me regularly though it has a reliance on screamers you can find either annoying or charming depending. Lost in vivo’s spooky, it isn’t really talked about on /v/ but I think it’s fantastic. Darkwood’s nights got me so bad I’ve yet to finish it, I really should. Amnesia the bunker was the most consistently tense I’ve probably ever been playing a game, the resource scrounging and manual saving really elevates the feeling of being hunted. PT is an obvious one but it’s not a full game, and I don’t think it could support that level of tension for much longer. Still great for what it is though. Fuck I love horror games

Three years after its full release - not including early access - and they've finally made the AI tolerable enough that it feels like a real game.Any anons enjoying it? I picked it up two years ago and immediately dropped it after getting beamed through walls on normal difficulty, the lighting was absolute dogshit as well and flashlights barely did anything. Now my only complaints are with the SWAT AI and how civilians can get stuck in objects.

The engagement comes from being overloaded with things you need to do and figuring out the best way to prioritize all your objectives while getting inside of the 15 minute time limit for A rank (in adventure mode at least). Even the rudimentary duel gameplay against named enemies and bosses is more like a bigger than average time sink that you have to plan for, likely using resources to get them down quicker.The first few story campaign levels are very easy so the gameplay doesn't shine through much, but as you get the later levels and harder difficulties, it becomes much more interesting.
