Why are there basically 0 game that scratch the "comfy magical medieval adventure" itch? This is literally the only one I can think of.

What you're looking for is fantasy beat em up games made in the 90's my friend.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmFPr8A2fdQhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dDsi0-BrGTshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgRZa0yS44AAnd like 500 more like this. You get the idea.

>>715469107Publishers are afraid of this niche in the Fantasy "audience demographic". If they go ultra realistic and violent they can tap into the Game of Thrones and dude bro crowd that loves blood and mud.If they go fairy tale cutesy they can tap into the kids market, like Fischer Price Knights point and click adventure shit (a fond memory of mine). But to hit that middle ground of colorful and fantastic fantasy worlds with some violence and darkness blended in is all but ignored by Western studios. The Japanese did it for a while and it's a common space for JRPGs to explore... but there's really nothing else that rides that middle ground...Except of course the most successful fantasy game of all time World of Warcraft. Pretty insane that nobody has figured out that the fantasy game market has been completely devoid of anything that isn't extreme grim dark or foolish girly childishness.
you only have that itch because of a single game which you already posted
>>715473881reading comprehensionwhat is it
>>715476339I have always had this itch. It is the meat and potatos of every boy's fantasy imaginationland. Swinging around with a stick while imagining you're an armored knight going on an adventure saving the princess from the evil wizard and his terrible minions. It's a fantasy that most men have in their early lives so it's honestly bewildering that there's basically no games that actually fully explore it, and adjacent games only kinda touch on it.
>>715476506No?That's exactly what you asked for.
>>715469107How do you define comfy? Noita has a mysterious world and atmosphere, and I spend a good chunk of it shoving mushrooms in my mouth to shift realities.
>>715476538The Legend of ZeldaOr Ys if you're one of those people
>he hasn't played Magicka
>>715469107if by that you mean good medieval fantasy beat em up for 3-4 player local coop then-Dungeons and Dragons Tower of Doom-Dungeons and Dragons Shadow over Mystara-King of Dragons-Knights of the Round-Golden Axe Revenge of Death Adderand ofc the best:-Dragon's Crown>>715476506if what you are looking for is poop jokes and a cartoony ass flash game artstyle then I'm affraid castle crashers is the only one that scratches your itch
>>715476538anon, playing as a knight/swordsman and saving the kingdom is literally what most fantasy games are about
>>715470329Based
Wow I'm just now realizing the desert levels are a reenactment of the crusades against the muslims
I always play the Green Knight. He's so cool.
>>715481235I always gravitated towards the orange knight. I don't know why, orange isn't even close to my favorite color.
>>715473881>>715478457It's a shame how hard it is to find games outside of these examples, especially since D&D is one of the only ones in those groups that actually squeezed a little bit more out of the formula, what with the blocking, special moves, spells and equipment, multiple choices, etc. etc. As someone who absolutely loves the quintessential adventurer's party, there is a shocking few number of non-MMO games that provide that experience, and that list dries up quick once you blow through the Beat Em Ups.
>>715469107Diablo 2Quake(?)
>>715481235I thought I was way worse than all of my friends when I played because they could juggle, and I couldn't. Turns out it's a green knight issue.
>>715469107All of the Fable games are pretty comfy.

>>715481235Same. Peoppe try telling me he's shit and can't juggle while I hit multiple enemies with a DoT and corner lock their asses to death.
>>715469107>t. Man who has only played castle crashers
>>715478643The few that do it don't do it generically enough, thus failing to capture the primeval mythical spirit men seek
>>715481235As a kid I only EVER used Hatty
>>715469107I like the game, but holy shit the level grind is fucking awful
>>715469107Castle Crashers is honestly pretty shit. What a horribly repetitive game and atrocious combat system.
>>715484608Necromancer is where it gets really funny on Insane. It's Troll Mom on steroids.
