I love getting old Xbox consoles because they tell a story of who owned it.

this seems like a setup for a movie plot
>anon is collecting old consoles (legally distinct pseudo-Xbox), trying to guess at the kind of person who used it back in the early 2000s, what their life must have been like
>becomes obsessed with a particular person and tries to find him or her irl
>from here it could branch out into different genres like a murder mystery (turns out that person is dead and anon will solve the cold case by buying all the old electronics the person owned) (the parents are like, you know what, take it all, the memory is too painful and we've had it for long enough) or a romance (the person is a woman, no homo, and still alive, no necro)
>listens to early 2000s music like Linkin Park, Lost Prophets, Thrice
>rejects modernity, embraces only pre-2007 reality
>windows XP / old Apple aesthetics make an appearance of course. present day characters refer to is as "frutiger aero", I guess.
>at least one scene in an empty mall to give that "liminal space" nod for zoomers
>basically a meta-nostalgiabait movie that portrays fictional nostalgia for the 2000s while also being authentic nostalgia for the early 2000s

and yes, I know this is /v/.

you know what I remember of my original Xbox? TAK TA TAK TAK TA TA TAK TA TAK TA TAK TAK TAK TAK TAK TAK TAK TA TAK TAK TA TA TAK TA TAK TAK TA TAK TAK TA TA TAK TA TAK TAK TA TAK TAK TA TA TAK TA TAK TAK TA TAK TAK TA TA TAK TA TAK that fucking disc drive

imagine solving a murder by going through ICQ chatlogs on some dusty windows XP PC that hasn't been turned on since 2006.

I'm glad that this is a thing that can happen, but I would never sell any of my old consoles or memory cards.
Way too much sentimental value has accumulated for me to consider it, I would have to become homeless to even attempt.

They're going in the coffin with me.
No one else will know that I embarrassingly named characters in games after my friends and crushes in elementary school. Or said/sent a bunch of incendiary hateful shit when online gaming was really starting to take off.

Except for me because you just told me…and now I’m going to tell your family and they’ll be at your door any minute, asking if your nephew can play “one of those thousands of games ya got, anon haha”
>>
>the music player visualisation
>adding your songs to games soundtracks
>the random sounds if you left the console on the home page for a while
Such a good console

What's stopping you? Just do it
>>
>>719272932
Should I do it? I don't want to mess up anything. It was working fine last time I used it 7 years ago.

Does anyone still play online with modded consoles? Any games still being played and can you do multiplayer on emulators on the box?
>>
>>719273451
Yeah if it's a non 1.6 Xbox. The time keeping functionality on these things was always crap, 1.0-1.5 consoles should always have it removed.

>>719274007
Isnignia brought back online for 200 games so far and there's weekly events for some of the biggest ones. I was playing rainbow six 3 a few days ago, played like 2 hours in 8v8 matches. Even got to try Urban Chaos online which is really good but only had a few players. Halo 2 is always active of course but it's also fun to arrange small games like gauntlet seven sorrows or doom 3 co-op, or mortal kombat/dead or alive/tony hawk matches.

They're tedious mostly due to how thick the ground plane is. But hey if it saves an xbox.

i got a used ps2 and when deleting saves of the previous user, in one of the games the little 3d character had a crying animation upon deletion.

How does live work for that?
I guess it's just a lame leaderboard.
Imagine an actual multiplayer game with Pirates!, I bet the game mechanics can support it.
