Is it really as bad as people say?
aside from the last 10 minutes it is pretty good
it's worseme1 and me2 somewhat aged well(both for different reasons), me3 however falls flat on it's head.
baby terminator reaper is a much worse ending than me3

Mass Effect 1 had the deepest RPG mechanics and best story but visually and mechanically the game shows its age, it's not exactly a fun game, 2 was a big step up in gunplay and visuals but the writing wasn't as strong and the RPG systems were dumbed down so much that they might as well have not even been there, 3 had the best gunplay but the worst writing, the levelup trees were a bit more fleshed out, and the ending was pretty miserable and wrote the company into a corner as far as potential sequels. 3 has aged better than the other two games, especially one, but DESU video game visuals have been improving so slowly for the last decade or so it's really not that big of a deal

1 had the best writing and atmosphere, 3 did gameplay better than both. 2 is just trash all around.That aside the whole franchise is just peak mediocrity. Over a decade later I've never had the urge to replay any of these shit games yet.

Narratively it's all over the place with every major plot thread through the series having been hastily finished here while also paradoxically ending on a fucking cliff hanger in the original before the extended cut. The character interactions for Shephard and his crew I like the most here as you're getting one last hurrah with them all before shit hits the fan on the last stretch of the game. Calling the game divisive would be an understatement.

It's like someone at Bioware saw the ill-received brief Cortana pop-ups in Halo 3 and thought they could make something even worse. And they did. I found it weird I couldn't holster my weapon until I learned the development was rushed to hell. There are lots of both little and big things that show the game's development was messed up
