SOMEHOW THEY DONT WANT US TO BELIEVE AYN AND RETROID ARE THE SAME COMPANY!

chunky ass odin 2 for comparison

>another expensive chink handheld released yearly for some reason
why do they do this
>>
Retroid is actually the same company as Ayaneo, and AYN is actually the same company as Powkiddy. It's a common mistake.

The fact it was so thicc is specifically what made it more comfortable than the alternatives. In fact, willingly making it more chunky with a grip maximizes the comfyness.

They keep making slimmer and flatter handhelds, only to sell you a plastic grip on the side because smartphone ergonomics may look sleek in marketing material but aren't optimal at all for actual Vidya sessions.
>>
rp5 + grip is all i really need desu
>>
>>719295179
I have the odin 2 portal already. Why should I care?
>>

>Glass everywhere
Bye.
>>
>>719295579
That's hard to believe, Retroid is very competent, just like AYN.
Ayaneo and powkiddy, on the other hand, are managed by a bunch of retards.
>>
>>719295579
Ayaneo has no similarities. AYN and Retroid use all the same parts and their shit looks nigh on identical.
>>
>>719295931
You don't.
Check back in 5-6 years or something, *maybe* there will be substantial emulator+hardware improvements by then to justifying caring.

Odin Portal has worse ergonomics than Odin 2 so I hope the 3 will be better. But just seeing that render I somehow doubt it.
>>
>>719296590
You have to buy the grip as well just to make the Portal comparable to the Odin2, and even then it's still worse.

I fully expect an official big ass grip for the Odin3.
>>
Why should I get Odin 3 over Thor or vice versa?
>>
>>719296731
>>719296590
Yeah this is the only reason why I haven't upgraded from my O2 Pro yet. Buying an ugly ass grip defeats the purpose of a sleek and modern looking handheld, but unfortunately it looks like all the higher end chinkhelds are doing this now.

Thor is a 3DS. Odin is a Vita.

No way. I just stream everything anyways
no bigger than the Switch in my hands but feels much better
I'm sure there are better options but IDC
>>
>>719296786
if you don't like the clamshell form, Odin series aren't going to have hinge issues
>>
>>719296786
Hardware, they're pretty similar. The Odin series has a better battery than Thor. Thor has the dual screen functionality with the bottom screen capping at 60fps.

Can I stream from my PC with these chinkhelds?

Yes

Do we know anything at all about Odin 3's hardware?

Alright the preview was misleading, the ergonomics look fine.
>>
is it gonna be smaller and be like retroid pocket 5 but no grip necessary?
>>
>>719298159
Odin 3's hardware hasn't been revealed yet
>>
What's the purpose of higher end android emulator devices when you could just get a phone instead at that price point?
>>
>>719298583
Active cooling?
>>
>>719298583
Phones are in general passively cooled. Even a raspberry pi 5 can outperform a flagship under sustained long-term load due to this.
>>
>>719298583
phones have passive cooling and it's bogged down with other bloatware

I got the Odin 2 Mini and have been having a blast with it.
Absolutely no reason to ever upgrade from it from what I can tell. Currently playing through Luigi's Mansion still.
>>
>>719298583
>at that price point
You usually can't, it's top tier hardware for a mid/low-end phone price

Add to that
>better aspect ratio for vidya, phone screens are taller than you'll ever need for any console game
>integrated controller with extra programmable buttons for emulation
>cooling, which means no throttling
>bigger battery that lasts for hours or days depending on the console you're emulating
and so on

it's a dedicated device designed around one purpose, simple as
>>
I'll buy this around 11.11 if Ayn does a similar sale
>>
Odin 2 is still great, it plays everything I need it to.
Unless there's been a massive bump on the processor or whatever for the 3.
>>
This is literally just the Odin 2 Portal
