I don't really care if modern Kratos says being an asshole is bad or whatever, but I saw a point from the roguelite expansion where Kratos makes a point to talk about how bad he feels about killing that random sailor who was clearly treated as more of a joke than a character and it was just funny to me, they weren't taking it that seriously back then and they bring it back as this somber character moment for Kratos, hard to take it seriously

He's also pretty much very well aware that he's a dead man throughout the game but does it so his family is left alone. And bringing back Kratos was a mistake, the ending of 3 was a perfect closure for the character, nu-GoW completely nullifies it and nullifies the central theme of the series.
