Not only do they give you a lot more XP, the XP also increases in the later stages (it can get to the thousands, though I don’t know the details).Spend the early stages getting a good loadout. After that, skip any stage you can and use every fireplace for hearts. You can see the full map from the start, so you can use it to calculate how much hearts you lose/gain on which route. Of course, if you can’t skip everything, it’s best to go through an easy stage early instead of playing an expert map on a single heart.Getting both legendary tile upgrades is great since it can let you gear up faster in the early game and heal you more later on.There are also curses, but I’ll leave that up to you.

All three paths are good and worth using.Mermonkey is kind of meh. Top is like a tack but does slow big hits around it, and buffs the pierce of nearby monkeys a little. Mid can freeze but is most notable for having an ability that shoots projectiles that bounce off walls. Bottom can stall bloons, but last I checked was bugged and failed to hit moabs half the time. No idea if the recent patch fixed this. Overall top and mid are bad and bottom is good if the bug is fixed.Desperado was meh, but just got some buffs so not really sure. I'll write this using knowledge from last patch but know that it's out of date. Top path is a low cost poor scaling tower like crossbow master or elite defender, and not really better than either. Mid is a decent t5 if you can give it a straight line to shoot down, but the lower tiers don't have the same piercing so it's a bit awkward. Otherwise they're high damage low pierce towers so decent, but you could just use sniper if you want that. I've tried bottom only a few times but it just seems overall unimpressive. Most notably 2x 000 desperado is a good start for chimps with a long base range and never wastes any pierce.
