have you ever dropped a game because it was too overwhelming?
>>719322867>OP was overwhelmed by UbislopCould you be any more onions?
>>719322867Yep.IDK what these skills do or what is actually useful or even fun and the game just throws it all at you right at the start. From what I've read, the game (Pathfinder Kingmaker) is just spamming buffs before fights anyway so I'm not missing much.
>>719322945not ubislop, ghost of tsushima and horizon are ubislop
>>719323401TotK is undiluted Ubislop through and through
>>719323507It's not ubislop when japan does it!
Yes, BOTW at Kakariko village. From what I've heard I'm not even the only one.But it was good so I should give it a chance.
>>719322867overwhelmed by how shit a game was?probably, yes
>>719322867im terrified of heights so TOTK was a horror game to me, I aint jumping down there
every time i try to play stardew valley, i look up how to unlock some thing or another and suddenly i have 14 wiki tabs open, and forget what I was even originally trying to do 2 hours into the process
>>719323401>>719323507define ubislop and don't just say "map towers"
>>719323886nigga seriously? grow a fucking nutsack
I feel like this thread is a textbook example of why Gen Z and Gen Alpha are retards. Ubisoft slop as we know today is more than just having "Ubisoft towers", which is climb a building to activate the game's map system. Tons of games have those without venturing into Ubislop territory. What Ubisoft slop really boils down to is repetitive game loop that feel like a checklist rather than passion. Any of the last 10 years of Assassin's Creed games would do it. >Very railroaded story mission, usually with slow walking>Exposition dump that feels robotic, dialogue has no teeth (HR is watching syndrome)>A bunch of NPCs automatically put quests on your missions just by walking by them>Side content has little to do with the world building>Major areas in the game prevent you from exploring without having to sink hours upon hours in crafting/sidequest/filler nonsenseSkyrim does hit some of those notes, but amusingly it lacks the Ubisoft towers. What prevents Skyrim from fullblown Ubislop syndrome (which has an underdeveloped main plot and repetitive draug dungeons) is how you can do things out of order and there are no real gatekeepers for the majority of the game's areas. Ubisoft slop is just game fatigue from busywork that doesn't respect your time.Imagine Mario 1 but with all the modern day Ubisoft slop designs: You must collect 50 coins to actually unlock the flag pole otherwise it resets the level. You must talk to random toad NPCs in the levels to unlock warp pipes to take underground to collect the necessary 50 coins (not enough in the regular level). And there are hidden auto-save checkpoints after you fall in a hole that spawn Mario right after the hole. When you pause the game you get told the DLC shop is open to buy ASSASSIN'S CREED HOOD MAN ICONIC EPIC skin for Mario. There's a microtransaction that's a repeat purchase that unlocks gigantic neon PC Vegan LED lights in a level to show you where the hidden blocks are for extra coins pwnage!
>>719324815map towers + no content
Yeah I dropped Elden Ring three times. I guess soulslop is just not for me.
>>719324815So you acknowledge map towers. Also 10,000 copy/paste objectives like the Koroks, the block formations where you need to insert another block with ultrahand, or the sky islands which all have that central area with a launcher, a gacha machine, and a ball you need to find. Plus copy/paste bosses like multiple cube golems or rock golems.Assassin's Creed was full of copy/paste objectives like this. 100 flags just for reaching some random location, repeated Templar miniboss fights, etc. Hence Ubislop.
>>719323637That village barely has 10 sidequests, what's so underwhelming about that?
>>719322867Yes
>>719322867Morrowind, deadlock, witcher 1
Elden Ring doesn't have any quest logs to spam you full of NPC sidequests, TOTK does have quest logs which it mercifully sorts in important and not important categories. Elden Ring feels soulless because of how much emptiness (boring overworld) and repetition sinks in: the mini dungeons are the worst they've been since Blooborne and the game quickly reuses its assets for even minibosses too quickly. I bounced off Elden Ring quite fast, while Tears of the Kingdom didn't really hit that until much later. Elden Ring's art style drowns you out quickly like PS3/360 era brown gritty filter, caverns are hidden so you have to be shoving your body around every nook and cry.I really dislike my time with Elden Ring. I feel it actively wastes your time and after finding something cool, it'll reuse that asset.
>>719326930>witcher 1it's a small game
>>719326849Overwhelming you mean. By the time I got to the village I still had a large portion of the map that was unexplored and I wasn't sure I had grasped all the mechanics especially since those tentacles-Laputa-like-machine-things would destroy me and beating one would require that I hide frequently and use all my weapons
>>719322867What's overwhelming about botw? there really isn't that much there
>>719322867Only if you mean "overwhelming with shit" and I don't mean that in the edgy contrarian way.I'm not bothering with games that use petty trick like RNG content or luck-based features just to fake size and complexity, or spreadsheet games built only to make you waste time, pay more subscription or DLCs.But I would and did play an Apollo program mod for a space simulator, play over 2000h of colony management or have a completion rate of 98% in open-world multi-ending games.
>>719326747Koroks aren't even an objective. You pass by them and can ignore 60% of them and still get enough seeds to max out inventory space. They're just another way of showing that no matter where you go, you get something for exploring. The "map towers" as both of you describe it don't work the same either. The only similarity being that they show the topology on the map. Otherwise in zelda you use it to manually spot locations or as a means to gain height and reach other places. In ubisoft games it reveals every crumb in a miles radius and writes out the whole checklist, eradicating any chance of discovering something.
>>719322867Usually multiplayer games
>>719324815Map towers
>>719322867A few times, although it's more that I didn't feel strongly enough about the game to bother learning its intricacies. But I don't see how BotW can be overwhelming, there's nothing at all to understand. It's just "go to the four corners and do the four quests to awaken the four guardians". TotK is the same. You can say you dropped it because it felt like a chore to travel across all that shit, but not that it felt overwhelming.
>>719322867>ubislop zeldaMore like overhelmingly boring
>>719328694Well I'm afraid to tell you you did grasp all the mechanics. The machines are supposed to oneshot you untill you get 30 hearts and the master sword and then you kill them in a couple hits. You could also parry their lasers with your wooden shield (lol), but if you miss you'll get oneshotted so might as well ignore them.
>>719322867>looks at backlog>choice paralysis happens>goes back to playing sandbox/MMOsYeah
>>719322867Dwarf fortress
Cuphead. There's way too much shit going on all at once. I dropped it at like 90% completed, I just can't visually process that much stuff and react to it very well. It was pissing me off, so I uninstalled it, but still have the save file in case I want to finish it in the future (probably not).
Wasn't ready for any of this, especially route finding my way to something that looked 20 meters away on the map because of the walls. I'll probably try it again one day.
