>devs insist you can't tell a story in a game without a gorillion cutscenes and hours of dialogue
>a humble Flash game has a complete story developing throughout with its own highs and climax in the course of a mere (if you're good at vidya) half hour
What is their excuse?
>>
Most video game writers are pretentious wannabe Hollywood screenwriters. They love to write lots of dialogue and exposition because they love to hear themselves talk vicariously.

You know what’s a lost art? When games would have characters say controller inputs in dialog. Like KOTOR or MGS. These moviegames nowadays try to be 100% serious immersive.
Was thinking stuff like Ocarina of Time would have it in dialog too (for example Z targeting tutorial by the girl on the Kokiri shop), but BotW has tutorial prompts instead.

Eh, I never liked that personally. Either make it a prompt only the player sees or don't bother mentioning it.
>>

Imagine being such a brainlet that you need to go through a tutorial instead of simply reading the manual.
>>
>open game
>watch intro
>"animation" consists of some of the cheapest tweening I've ever seen
This sucks.

I think having the characters break the 4th wall and tell you controller inputs is lazy. There are better ways to integrate learning into a game. But it's still way better than the current trend of just sending you to a menu with tutorial videos.

I don't remember this part what game was it?
>>
>>719331998
Lab of the Dead. Same dev.
>>
>>719332030
Same dev (Evil-Dog) and same artist, SickDeathFiend. He's not very prolific but he's one of the oldiest, been around since NG's early years.

>lost art

I tried. But canonically it's impossible to make zombies controllable, nor make them not attack people anymore.

Kek, good one anon.

fuck is wrong with her feet

What are some good flash games to play and how do I play them after it was discontinued?
>>
>>719338154
most sites just use ruffle so there's that.
As for what to play that's a big question. Try starting with road of the dead and then work your way down the recommended list of newgrounds.
>>
>>719331289
I like it cause it knows it’s a video game. Only autistic fags care about immersion.
>>
>>719338154
I always liked Plasma Burst
>>
>>719326504
the only time i enjoyed them saying controller prompts is the Bard's Tale
>What the fuck are you saying old man?

>>719328565
That’s not the point, you fatherless low IQ brownoid mutt.

How would you feel if you hadn't had breakfast this morning?

Is it hard to emulate?

There's also Territory War, I used to play it all the time in computer class back in middle school.
