How do you store your Vidya to prevent bitrot?
>>
Gaben is storing it for me.
>>
I store them in a freezer, no rot will get them there.
>>
I trust piracy to be there for me. Always.
>>
I don't know if my JAV collection is rotting or if it's just encoding getting better over the years so stuff from 10 years ago just looks worse or off.

We had the tech for that for over a decade at this point.

I honestly feel bad for people who have a knee-jerk response to low quality media and so as a counter they attempt to store everything as close to the source as possible. It sounds like a good idea, right? But nearly everything on computers is compressed data, even FLAC audio and RAW images. Like I still barely think it's worth storing a video file above 720p resolution if the bitrate is fine, you're gonna end up with 2x the size for a functionally identical picture. Anime still looks great at 480p, games can go even lower and still be perfectly playable. This shit is too much.
