It's the wokest propaganda machine ever disguised as a JRPG. Forget dungeons every fucking boss fight is actually a mandatory HR training module. The ultimate weapon in the end game is a fucking a gender-neutral stapler of inclusivity. The main questline? Filling out a 300-page diversity report in triplicate before you’re allowed to cast Fireball. Side quests include organizing a goblin Pride parade, teaching orcs proper pronoun usage, and canceling a dragon on social media for problematic tweets from 600 years ago. Hell, the final boss isn’t even a monster—it’s an old white wizard who refuses to attend his company’s equity seminar. Anyone who calls this game “fantasy” is lying. It’s basically LinkedIn with turn-based combat.

I'm fine with there being some similarities because it is by the same developers and I think that's expected, but it goes back to Persona's structure too much, and it often feels at odds with the traveling component of the game.I also wish it leaned more into the less traditional fantasy stuff. I remember there being a lot of backlash when the game was first shown proper and people found out that it was not just going to be a very traditional high-fantasy with elves and highlands and dragons and whatever, but with the game actually out now, it's those traditional fantasy elements that are the most boring aesthetically. It always sucked to go from one of the cool Bosch-inspired enemy designs to some forgettable goblin, and I wish it was more the former than the latter. I also would have liked a bit more focus on the theme of the fantasy genre as fantasy as an ideal, because that was something I found interesting about it since it was first announced too. I was worried it wouldn't even make it to the final game for a while, but I'm glad it did and I enjoyed it even if I thought more could be done with it.
