I'm in the quarry right now and I feel like quitting. It's hard to get past enemies when that miasma thing reduces your max health to a minimum

am I supposed to do something else first?
>>
>>719353976
1) Stellar Blade - too easy, yellow paint, boring levels, boring fetch quests
2) Another Crab's Treasure - pure slop, aussie turd, reddit humor
3) Hifi Rush - 1 level repeated 30 times, full of DEI
4) Dragons Dogma 2
5) Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
6) Dead Space Remake
>>
>>719354012
Nope, the solution to miasma is inside the mine
>>
>>719354012
Literally dodge and you'll find the solution in minutes

Mogs the witness
Mogs Animal Well
Mogs any zelda after OoT except Majora's
Tunic is simply a good game.
And the fact all of it is inside of the game just makes it better than most ARGs dogshits

Got into walking simulators with What Remains of Edith Finch and heard how good Gone Home was.
I was so goddawm disappointed how shit it is. Never played walking simulators again.
Assets used over and over so the house is fucking boring to explore. Story is "hurr durr how mysteric is our lesbian daugther". I fucking hate that game so much and demand my 3 hours of lifetime back from the devs!
>>
>>719353976
That game blew me away. Played the game blind (as intended), not expecting much, but it turned out to be one of the best games I had played in a long while.

On topic though, Disco Elysium was just unplayable garbage. Thought it was a video game but it turned out to be a really boring book.
>>
>>719353976
tunic was incredible the only problem was that the ending was fucking shit
>>
>>719355345
You should have gone for the good ending then.

>>
>>719354889
This makes me wary of playing Tunic since The Witness and Animal Well were amazing games.
>>
>>719353976
Most of the game is enjoyable, finale/endgame scavenger hunt is shit. It's the point where it drops from mystery and discovery to simple yet tedious puzzle grind.
>>
>>719355418
the true ending was worse than the main ending. it didn't even have a boss fight.
>>
>>719355789
If you didn't solve the golden path then yes.

If it was a long time ago then probably not, feels kinda weird to jump into late game puzzles after that long.

From the little I gathered from a stream, it's just protag having le manchild moment and going out into nowhere cause his sick wife (who also cucked him, do they ever tell you why she was out late and got back drunk without telling you? You're just supposed to move past that?) got dementia and can't remember him anymore. Kinda shit story.
>>
>>719356076
Yeah, this game was just a walking simulator where literally nothing happens and you don't do anything. Absolute garbage. I can't believe people like "games" like this.
>>
But Tunic is actually a good game? Like really good indie game.
>>
>>719356167
It's terrible, it's build upon being a faggot that runs away from their problems.

It's just hilarious how the game takes for granted that you flirt with your boss and are ready to meet her while I knew since the beginning he should man the fuck up and go to her wife with Alzheimer.

It's a story about grief and facing your problems, but there wasn't any conflict to begin with, the solution was clear from the start if you are jot a coward manchild, but the protagonist is and old fat redditor
>>
>>719354012
there is a mask that gets rid of the distortion
>>
>>719356359
The "main" Tunic game is like a 6/10, really mediocre action adventure experience. With the puzzles it pushes it up to around a 7.5, but the problem is you have to grind through 10 hours of mediocre nonsense to get to any of the parts that are good. It's a tough sell, although it's not a "bad" game so it's doable. Figuring out the language was great though.
>>
>>719356335
It's good when you're too drunk to play anything that requires skill.
>>
>>719356398
As someone that had to care for sick people for years, I agree. Howtf am I supposed to feel for a guy who's literally abandoning someone ill? If his wife was in a coma or dead it'd be different.

Wrong thread, Outer Wilds is 4chan and for high IQ individuals
>>
>>719356359
the actual gameplay is still derivative and held back by its engine. the game is more of a gimmicky encapsulation of a feeling than a real game in itself, and that fails it. it's still alright and very well designed, but it's no the witness or hyper demon. it's not a peculiarly engrossing game past the surface, and it's a shame.
>>
>>719356185

I'm just going to throw in my voice since I knew absolutely nothing about this game before playing it and only pirated it on a whim after stumbling upon its amazing soundtrack on bandcamp; this is one of the best games I've played in a long, long time and should have been GOTY for its release. It is charming and a terrifically designed adventure that is a more worthy successor to Zelda 1 than any of its sequels. Super short, beatable in a weekend, so definitely check it out and don't look up anything else about it.

>>719358303
The golden path is the final puzzle. Personally, it's what ruined the game for me. The length and ultimate repetitiveness of what you're meant to do just took me out of the game. The game became an obvious game with an obvious puzzle.

>>
>>719363761
I assumed it was those ones, I missed those and maybe one or two others
I will give you a hint but only read it if you want a hint
You need to translate the text to english to read the note. Yes, it is translatable using the various bits of text found in the game lmao
>>
>>719364086
I have already translated the language.
It's quite hard since I'm ESL, but what I got still leads me nowhere.
>>
>>719364835
Go to the puddle in the overworld and input the message, it's a bit unusual but you'll figure it out. It's not a path
>>
>>719364835
For the music puzzle, try referring to page 28 and 34.
If this doesn't help I could give a better hint.

For the message puzzle, you'll notice it says "Shhh..."
In what ways can you be quiet?
>>
>>719353976
I'm too dumb for this game, don't know how I played Zelda 1 with only the manual to give you some hints. Well, it was probably just an easier game.
I don't remember where I got filtered, I think I was just about to go into the mine/quarry. I remember a high tech area too.

Spoil me, does the manual eventually get actually translated or will I have to parse it out to make sense on my own?
>>
>>719365703
You'll unironically notice words like "The" and "up" "down" naturally. You really only need to know like 9 words for 99% of the game
For 100% you need to know like 15
The rest of the language is a bonus
>>
>>719365703
It does not get translated and you technically do not have to ever translate all of it either.
>>
it was okay but i got tired of it right about when you fight the ghost on top of the tower. i soldiered on until i got to the robot mines and then just stopped because i wasn't have fun anymore.
>>
>>719365703
it's already been translated but you have to either look up how the language works or just read the translated document. Pretty creepy stuff.
>>
>>719365703
If you can get to the mine/quarry, you're already past the early game filter. Also if you saw the high tech area, you would have remembered a boss.

>>
>>719366336

>>
>>719356076
It actually had a story instead of le narrator talking about shit while you walk, it had multiple characters who interact with each other and it had an ending with a twist and a mystery
You don't have to like it but it isn't low effort trash
>>
>>719366515
It's all phonemes, because the developer knew if it was a cipher based language it would be translated way too quickly by a player.
>>
>>719366515
I believe there were hints as to how the language works. More than though, people found a second hidden language in the game disguised as music. It gives a link to https://doyoufeartheeyesofthefarshore.co/

with the message "do you fear the eyes of the dark shore".

really brilliant game.

Tried it on PS4 because PS+ offered it awhile back. Stopped 30min in because the game, despite it's extremely basic visuals, had the hardest fucking time holding 60fps.

Indies can't fucking program.
>>
>>719366827
I don't recall any sort of hidden audio language when I figured out the URL puzzle, unless you mean it was some ARG thing on the webpage itself

Translating the language is I think extremely reasonable to do without any outside help but you should be prepared to spend a few hours on it. Once you've figured out all the pieces I think it's OK to just look at the translated manual since it's just tedium at that point.

Before that there was darksiders.
Both were absolute garbage and I quit 20 minutes in from incredible boredom.
Literally every "zelda-like" is pure fucking shit any I swear im the only person on the planet that knows what the fuck even makes zelda work. You can copy-fucking-paste zelda into another setting like tunic and it still sucks because you forgot that zelda gets its feel from being japanese humour filtered through european conservatism and japanese philosophy filtered through a video game.

You know whats ACTUALLY zelda-like?
Labyrinth and Dark Crystal.
The secret to making a live action zelda movie is to give it to the guys who made the dark crystal tv show, because those guys understand jim henson, and jim henson is the only white man that saw the world the same way miyazaki does, the same way satoshi kon did, the same way that miyamoto, aonuma, and fujibayashi (and honestly fujibayashi isnt as good as any of the rest of them, but his track record makes me think he's got potential)

So yeah, every single "zelda-like" is going to be redditslop because reddit if full of retards who unironically claim zelda is "a game about puzzles, bro"

Gone Home was a major turning point for me.
I think it single handedly made me realise that gaming journalists were all corrupt. Specifically when i saw Danielle from polygon give it a 10/10, when she was literally on a weekly podcast with the director of the game Steve Gaynor. Unique on the surface and adequate on presentation, but shallow in depth and weak execution. I think Tunic actually fits that pretty well, personally. Game sort of quickly becomes a one-trick pony for the last two-thirds of the game, and you never really experience anything near what the first third almost gets close to.

Nobody misses the "message" of the game, the "message" is just really retarded. It has the same failings of the "twist" of Bioshock One. "Would you kindly" loses any and all meaning when the game literally gives you 0 other choice to engage with it. SpecOps The Line locks you in a windowless room with one exit, hands you the key, and tells you to unlock it and get out of it. When you eventually do, it starts harassing you for being a shitty person for choosing to unlock the door. That's ham-handed and retarded.

I remember when people found early art of the fox as a diaperfur.

The message of the game is that it's cool to frame what looks like a simplistic generic cover shooter at first glance with the idea that the protagonist isn't really a good person, and his mind is falling apart from the things he's doing and his own mental justifications for them are crashing against reality.

Bioshock fails because the twist isn't ultimately interesting, just like the rest of the game. You don't desire player agency, you just get mad when you're railroaded, which means linear stories aren't for you.

Automata is a perfectly decent game until you get to the dogshit tacked on corpo ending that retroactively ruins the whole experience. It would've been hard to top Nier, but it's a real shame the suits won and got to sanitize the whole thing. DoD3 was better than Automata, and DoD3 was shit.

Definitely Disco Elysium, Undertale would be the close runner up. It's nothing but completely boring commie propaganda.

Utter horseshit. The message is extremely unsubtle and hammered into you, as evidenced by the fact that people still try this retarded defense: >>719380303

>You don't desire player agency, you just get mad when you're railroaded, which means linear stories aren't for you.
My favorite Final Fantasy is X and I think it's a stroke of genius. You do not understand what you are talking about.

I mean, he's right. If you were so upset by the idea of playing as an evil character, you could've stopped playing.

>My favorite Final Fantasy is X
Shit, I didn't know you were a retard, my bad. They should have a little warning light above your posts or something so people don't accidentally think you're a real person.

You entirely missed the point of bringing up BioShock. The message is utterly retarded and pointless if you literally cannot deviate from the actions. That's exactly why BioShock, as the other anon put it, failed to be interesting.

Narratively, the character breaks free of the mind control after that point. The problem with Bioshock isn't that you're playing as the Manchurian candidate, it's that it's fucking boring and the story is stupid. The game would not be any more interesting if you could instead choose to keep being mind controlled and have Atlas tell you to throw yourself off a bridge now you're no longer useful.

What makes FFX's message good to you, given you can't deviate from the actions of the story? It's fine to go "I didn't enjoy Spec Ops' story". It's retarded to go "I didn't like it because they made ME burn all those civs with white phosphorus and that made me FEEL bad and it's LAME that I couldn't tell the game NOT to do it!".
