my ds4 is starting to drift what's a good controller to buy?
xbox core
>>719355819if you don't need gyro xbox series controller is perfect
8BitDo? I am at the same situation as you. Xbox series X controller sounds good but stick drift is a major issue for me
another ds4
Just fix your DS4 with another DS4, and get some joystick caps for it while at it since the official ones suck and degrade over time.
>>719356101i've been using mine almost daily for about 3 years and I haven't had drift, but my a button is starting to get double inputs sometimes
>>719355819Just repair it. Replacement joysticks are cheap. Even for TMR or hall effect ones. Or get a chink controller from like Flydigi or GameSir on Aliexpress on 11.11.
>>719355819If you have a PC, try with the built-in calibration tool. It's going to confuse you because Microsoft changed it from Windows 10 onward to appear to ask you to use the D-pad, but try and see if it works with your stick.
>>719356528i use ds4windows, i can just turn up the deadzones but thats not really a long term solution>>719356423i saw that there's hall effect joysticks on aliexpress, gonna grab some of those along with the usb c mod and a new battery since mine only lasts a few hours at most
learn to solder
>>719355819use a mouse and keyboard. go with a wooting 60he and a razer viper v3 pro
>>719355819dualsenseI tried an xbox one and it's so fucking loud even just moving the sticks
>>719355819Dualsense Neither of mine have drifted after 2+ yearsThe rubber is turning to goo, though.
It's wired, but otherwise it's basically the best controller on the market for anons who love the DS4 and are sick of the stick drift.>t. has gone through many a DS4 over the years
>>719357334if it's for PC this is the best controller and only costs like $20.
>I'm poored and don't mind wireTegenaria, 11 bucks on Temu >I want cheap shit but good and wireless Cyclone 2, 35bucks on Temu>I want expensive and wireless Pic related (G7 pro)>I play on PlaystationThen you deserve your miseryThat's all, saar.
>>719355819dualsense with halleffect sticks
>>719357469Holy shit, these are like upwards of $200
>>719357469What's the deal with hall effect sticks?
>>719357601They won't get stick drift. At least not for a long, long, long time.
>>719355819for what, pc? xbox controllers. just work going back to vista games no third party software needed, 50 hour battery life etc.
>>719355819Is it the same DS4 that came with your PS4? Mine started drifting after its 3rd year of use and replaced it with a brand new one after repairing it with a new stick module didn't sorted it out (started drifting again after half a year later or so), never had any drifting issues ever since and I've been using for 5 years now for both console and PC gaming.>>719357334>>719357378Read good things about the gamesaar sticks too. Consider theese too, OP.
>>719357601Frictionless sensors, so you don't get true drift like webmrelThe centering spring can still potentially wear down, but if that happens it's usually within the realm of what a 5-10% deadzone can fix.
>>719357601normal sticks use a sensor to detect movement, these usually wear out quickly. Hall Effect uses fucking magnets and you'll die before they wear out
>>719357994i got this as a refurb over a decade agoonly occasionally used it for pc games
>>719355819Another DS4It's the least shit modern controller honestly. The start falling apart much later than the typical slop made now
>>719355819DS4Controllers only got worse after
>>719355819Replace it with another DS4 or Xbone controller. If neither then a Razer Wolverine V2. These three will give you great dpads and face buttons with quality sticks. If you need a dedicated dpad for fighters then Hori Commander 3/4 is a hair better. Don't buy chink shit memes.
>>719358113If you use them a lot they fall apart very, very rapidly. They're also pretty expensive. As much as I loved the DS4, they're such a bad investment unless you mod them with hall-effect sticks.
>>719358273Is there any gamepad you'd call an "investment"?
>>719357601Uses magnets to determine what direction your joystick is pointing towards. Doesn't matter really, since the springs on the joystick are prone to metal fatigue nonetheless so eventually the controller WILL stick drift. The best possible fix for this is at the software level by adjusting the deadzone but this isn't a possibility on some controller without some fuckery
>>719358070Buy the gamesaar then. If you're adamant on the idea of continue using your DS4 then you should replace the stick module and add some stick caps like >>719356306suggests, it'll probably last longer than mine did.>over a decade agoWhile you're at it, you may want to consider replacing the battery with a new one, not sure how much usage are you giving to the thing exactly but even if you mainly use it while its wired, the battery cycle still wears off over time.
>>719355819>10 years with my DS4>No driftthat motherfucking controller is the best damn controller I've had in my entire life, it has outlived 5 pairs of joycons and 1 DS5 and is still rocking like is nothing.
>>719358746ok i was gonna fix the ds4 like i said here >>719356748but then i looked at the gamesaar and it seems pretty goodhas the fkn new gen hall effect stuff and microswitches for the face buttons
>>719355819Redeem the gamesir cyclone 2, saar
>>719358661What, you don't consider hardware that you plan on using all the time to be an investment?
>>719357334how's the dpad?
>>719359116i have this controller bought it for pennies on aliexpress. its incredible 10/10 i really recommend. there is no reason to buy any microshit and snoy products ever again
why are controllers such garbage these days? I bought a PS5 not even 6 months ago and the controller already has stick drift.
>>719360620It's no Vita d-pad, that's for sure. But there isn't anything wrong with it. It just werks
>>719360809Because they don't use the hall-effect sticks so you will spend another $80 on one. People who game a lot on their controllers get fucked over in this deal.
>>719357139>just move on to something with even worse longevitylmao you retards never learnstop buying first party dogshit
>>719360905>People who game a lot on their controllers get fucked over in this dealThis is what pisses me off even more. I only played Stellar Blade and it started to drift.
>>719355819Switch Pro controller
>>719355819why don't you just fix it instead of buying new product?
>>719361818fixing is unironically for poor people
>>719361053no>>719361607yes
>>719361607great controller but the stick drift gets insane
>>719355819xbox series controller + rechargeable battery pack with hall effect sticks and chatpad
>>719357262si hermano lo mismo me paso por utilizar por mucho tiempo el mando, y al utilizar la replica se descontrola en algunos juegos y eso molesta.
>>719357262>The rubber is turning to goo, though.God, I hate when this happens. I've tried to buy replacements on amazon and usually the material is even worse.
>>719363971Fixable with yuzu.
>>7193558198BitDO Pro 3
>>719355819mine did a couple times and cleaning fixed it so try that first
>>719355819what features do you want?do you need gyro? does stick layout matter? what about back buttons?
I bought 5 chink controllers for 50€ so idgaf if one break lol
>>719369858>bought a bunch of Chink GCN controllers many years ago>the buttons felt fucking terrible, some were unresponsive and didn't even workThey were cheap, but they were literal garbage that belonged in the trash.
>>719355819The new Xbox elite $200 controller Controller thread Gamesaar
>>719356748>i use ds4windows, i can just turn up the deadzonesI was just dealing with this issue myself, on the PS4. It's jailbroken and there's a plugin called gamepad_helper.prx that should help. I haven't gotten around to playing with the values yet but my initial setting of 30 (scale of 1-128) wasn't high enough.
seeing as i only play retro games on controller, i need dpad on top/playstation stylemy only options for this are basically 8bitdo pro 2 and dualsense right? dualsense will inevitably drift though so its basically only one option, unless theres some other chinkshit controller i dont know about
>>719371765>>719357334
>>719371765Gulikit Elves 2 if you're fine with Saturn form factor, Gulikit TT Pro/Max releases in October which is the same thing in a full size shape with 4 back paddles.Gamesir has Tegenaria Lite ($20 or less, wired) and Tarantula Pro ($60ish unless discounted, kind of laggy)ZD O+ has a modular controller that can be made symmetrical, but it is also laggy and will run you $100+ to use it like thatPersonally I'd go Elves 2 or wait for TT Pro if it's specifically d-pad you want. Tegenaria or wired Pro 2 if you're pinching every penny and don't mind wired only. Dualsense is cool but you're paying extra for a lot of things that don't have value for retro gaming, and I don't like its d-pad for shmups.
>>719355819Just fix the DS4. Pop it open, desolder the pots, and solder new ones on.
>>719356748If anyone has done the USB-C mod for DS4, please let me know if it was relatively easy to do and if it works well
>>719372174sorry forgot to mention i'm looking for wireless>>719372190those tt pro/maxes look good, will wait for them and see, thanks
>>719358273I have the same DS4 since release and no issues.
>>719361870Fixing is for people who retain money and property and are able to retain wealth.
>>719357334>gamesar
>>719361870It depends. I like the Series X controller. I'd rather replace the pots with good ones than use some inferior controller.
