The biggest problem at the moment is their release schedule for general Directs. They can release a whole goddamn console at any point in the year just fine, but apparently it's fucking impossible to do that for a mere video and they can ONLY ever do so on Februarys/Junes/Septembers. So with their console having released in June, that's meant their ironclad autism has forbidden them from putting out a Direct until September at the earliest.
I learned my lesson after buying the Wii U. Nintendo never supports their "bonus" consoles.

But essentially translationg the commands from one chip architecture to another directly from the processor without some middleware as an intermediary. So like WINE or Proton.Both these new approaches allow to actually draw from the extra hardware. Something the old "let's just shove the previous hardware into it for good measure and run old games off of that" couldn't do.
