The best way for a completely new player to learn is probably singleplayer, to familiarize themself with the basics of controlling a character in platform fighter space. But right now, all the game has is arcade, break the targets, and two training mini-games. Maybe it'll get better if they figure out a way to get casuals to play FFAs or treams (which are fun regardless), but right now it's difficult to queue for either. Everyone's playing 1v1s.
