Has any other franchise given the Bubsy treatment and been brought back from the dead repeatedly despite being notorious for being bad? Like it's just an elaborate attempt to cash in on being a premium ironic shitpost? You can't even chalk this up to whatever company is skinwalking as Atari these days because they didn't even get the Bubsy IP back until two years ago so the interim releases can't even be blamed on them digging into the IP catalog.Twenty years after the start of the HD age you just hear about great franchises that just weren't economically viable for AAA development or just got pushed out by more popular variations on their genre, e.g. MOBA for RTS, military shooters for arena shooters, platformers not made by Nintendo, etc.But how often do you just keep hearing about shit franchises being brought back again and again? And I mean in a genuine "game is terrible and sold badly" flop kind of way, not the "COD and Assassin's Creed are popular and it makes me upset" /v/ way.
>>719366352I honestly can't think of one, except for meme answers.
Bubsy owes me facebraps
gex comes the closest
gex but he doesn't have a new game like bubsy so...
Using the stored atom capacity he built up in his ass
I feel like if there was any time for platformers(besides Mario, obviously) to make a comeback it would've been the late 00s/early 2010s when people were desperate for anything that wasn't a dudebro shooter trying to sell to the COD audience.Maybe this is just the last card to play in lieu of bloated major game studios; commission successful indie devs to make a game with your IP.
