What the fuck

>>
>>719373791
Atari bought the steamworld dig guys?
>>
>>719373791
>Atari also recently acquired the IP rights to five Ubisoft titles: Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and its sequel, Grow Up.

Played a pirated copy of Cold Fear, I got to the final boss and never beat him. If CF comes to GOG I'll buy a copy.
>>
>>719373791
Where did Atari find such a sugar daddy out of nowhere? And what is his early history?
>>
>>719374095
Ataris been selling a lot of consoles now too
>>
>>719374095
Wade Rosen created Ziggurat Interactive.
>>

Yeah
And I think super meat boys studio
>>
>>719374090
I wish they bought rayman
>>

wow, he knew without checking. he is... the one
>>

The head tard of atari
>>
How can Atari afford to do that when they own Nightdive and that studio is constantly on the brink of bankruptcy and dissolving and has awful patch turnaround times?
>>719374090
I've literally never heard of any of these games.
>>
>>719373791

>The division was sold in two stages, the Dutch division was sold to Softmachine in 1997, while the French division including all remaining subsidiaries, stakes and the entire CD-i library, was sold to Infogrames in August 1997, with the deal closing shortly afterwards.
Tetris CD-i re-release when?

How the actual fuck is Atari still even alive?
Haven't they torpedoed damn near every single source of revenue in the last decade? When was their last game that was even worth half a damn? I guess I can respect that roach-like quality that they have.
>>
>>719374848
Atari is only a name at this point.
>>
>Atari buys MobyGames, essentially the largest existing vidya DB
>MobyGames immediately goes full kike mode afterward
FUCK Atari, man.
>>
Why even big these franchises
>>
Buy deus ex
>>
>>719374848
It's not Atari. None of the people that made Atari what it is still exist there. It's a French hedge fund wearing the corpse of Atari. The actual company is Infogrames. Embracer Group is the same idea it's a hedge fund wearing THQ's corpse calling it THQ Nordic.
>>
>>719375316
Dude, the French incarnation has been the longest lasting Atari incarnation of them all.
>>
>>719373791
how is atari still relevant even
>>
>>719375420
It is not. They've never reached the highs they had during the 70s.
>>
>>719374848
Atari isn't Atari, it's Infogrames, an old french company which was mostly making its money with licensed video games which is why I literally can't think of a single IP they own outside of Bubsy and Warlords. They were also the publisher of the original Neverwinter Nights.

Nightdive made 5 million dollars on system shock for steam

>>719374090
>Cold Fear
That franchise has the potential to be good on the level of Dead Space or RE. Hppe they do something with it.
>>
>>719374528
>>
>>719375721
It never had any potential, that's why virtually everyone ultimately called it mediocre back when it came out. Swaying ship mechanic is basically its only redeeming quality.
>>
>>719375939
Maybe it can be redeemed
>>
bring back the old infogrames and the Driver series
>>
>>719375939
>Swaying ship mechanic is basically its only redeeming quality.
Thus the potential.
>>
>>719376067
They revived the Infogrames brand.
https://www.gamesindustry.biz/atari-relaunches-infogrames-acquires-totally-reliable-delivery-service
However, the Driver series is probably not cheap, and also not something Ubisoft is interested in selling at all.
>>
>>719375547
>>719375573
Nightdive studios has an engine and porting method that acts as a middle man for these games. You may wonder why they do games like Turok or Blood, that have PC versions already? It's because they want them on the Switch and Playstation, where most of their sales are. So I can fully epect Night dive to do a new port of Cold Fear.
>>
>>719376067
Didn't Driv3r kill the series for good?
>>
>>719374090
Child Of Eden looks cool. So I am slightly interested.
>>

>>
>>719374090
Why those games in particular?? Whats worth the money in buying rights to games nobody cares about?? You could just make a new IP
>>

Well, at least they have all that DEI money. We may be nearly bankrupt, but Assassin's Creed is on the right side of fictional history, chuds.

The suits would revive the shittiest forgotten literally who series because there's 0.001% less chance to fail with existing property rather than risk making a new IP.

NTA. They started charging money to download fucking screenshots. With that said, I got MobyPlus for my contributions to the database, so I can't complain.
>>
They own Nightdive and Digital Eclipse. They are positioning themselves as a retro gaming/remaster company. They also bought the Intellivision name.
>>
>>719374095
Thudnerful is Swedish based and tied to the same shady Nordic funding Embracer has. Probably lots of laundered money from belt & road deals with china.

Non-users are now limited to mere 5 pages of search results. Regular users are also limited to 20 pages.
Images are now in even lower resolution (800px high max).
Users were allowed to request an API key, they revoked that and now it's available only if you pay.
Constant MobyPlus shilling fucking everywhere.
Search function is still shit despite everything.
Of course, you could get that for free if you manage to score six gorillion Moby points for your contributions in a single year, but would anyone really want to now?
>>
>>719382271
>Of course, you could get that for free if you manage to score six gorillion Moby points for your contributions in a single year
It's just 480 points. I have 1000 points in the last year. It's not that much.
>>
>>719374090
the moving boat gimmick was cool and had atmosphere, don't really remember anything else about it but that was well done at least.
>>
>>719382389
They must have reworked it then, I do remember it being a pretty high number in a single year specifically.
>480 points
That's just for one month though.
>>
>>719382940
>That's just for one month though.
No, it isn't.
>The second update this week is about MobyPlus. Specifically, some of you woke up today with a surprise complimentary subscription. We've always offered this as a perk to our most dedicated contributors, and we wanted it to be more accessible, so we've made it easier to earn free access: if you have earned 480 points in the past year, you'll automatically unlock a complimentary subscription, no extra action needed, and you'll keep it as long as you continue to meet the requirements.

You can check if you keep the "benefits" at any point by browsing your profile.
This random mod I chose because it happened to be one of the top contributors keeps the MobyPlus membership because all staff members get it for free.

Did they forget to update this or they're deliberately offering disinfo?
>>
>>719383321
No idea. At least on my end, I still have it more than a month after its implementation, with the whale logo and everything on my profile.

Not really confident about Atari but at least they will revive those names once, which is more than what Ubi has done with them in years (decades?).
>>
>>719374638
Is it not in Tetris Forever?

Market economy working as intended.
Economic forces direct people to implement working solutions. The need to push the line up leads organically to constant need of improvement and optimization of services, improving the lives of you, the consumer, infinitely upwards.
You are not just simply paying more and getting less.

>>719374090

Weak. Grow Home was neat, though.

Grow Home and Grow Up are mostly fondly remembered, Child of Eden is one of those artsy games, Cold Fear is a cult classic
But does literally anyone give a single shit about I Am Alive? A brown and gritty PS3/360 zombie survival game that felt generic even back in 2012.
>>
Bubsy 4D is projected to make a billion dollars in memes. Straight up Bubsin'. It's time to buy buy buy! They have the fuck you Bubsy money. Well... They'll have the Bubsy money. Soon. For sure.

It's Bubsin' time.
>>
>>719386138
I Am Alive is one of those games that were immediately forgotten after release. Shit makes no sense.
>>
>>719374090
>>719380179
Wasn't I Am Alive a famously unfinished game that had a bunch of stuff out out of it, and turned into a semi small, indie title? I bet there's probably some interesting stuff hidden in the assets of it.
>>
>>719374090
Weird choices for purchases. 4 of those games on steam now weren't big hits. Probably only bought it because they were cheap. They either want to make a new game in series or just do a simple remaster for modern consoles and systems for some residual profits. A Cold Fear sequel would be weird to see.
