You'd have to let us know what weapon build you were going for before we can determine what you're doing wrong, since each weapon plays completely differently.

Honestly, it sucks-- there are many other small changes like that, and they are fucking ridiculous. It's not something someone who played the latest patch is likely to notice, but for those of us who played it pre-patch, it's pretty uncanny for a lot of different reasons. It's pretty easy to roll it back to 1.4, though.

>>719398030idk what weapon you used but that's not how i remember combat flowing for me tbhfami played spear and ended up taking advantage of the bonuses and moveset modifications you get from perfect dodging so i'd perfect dodge an attack, get my own licks in, dodge the next attack, use a spirit skill or two, another dodge and attack chain, until i get a stun, spam attacks and then brutal attack, it was super fluid best spear combat in any game i've played, and when i initially tried spears in wuchang they felt like ass in comparison so i played longsword my whole playthrough in wuchang

>>719398508You can get hits in while on the defense, I used spear mainly too so there's the dodge attack or the pummel hit after blocking, but it's really just chip damage since most bosses don't stun to that. All your real damage comes from the big combos, and I would say outside of a couple bosses like Hismar you are doing more attacking then defending, but I guess I just don't really like the big stunlock stuff that Khazan does.
