>>719382092As someone who bought the first one on release, people cared more about the fact that it was a fully 3D platformer. It was one of the first. It just so happened to actually be good on top of that. The "Lara is sexy" and "lol boobs" thing was just part of the marketing but it was always about the games. The first 4 games are still considered some of the best on PS1 and have aged as well as the classic Resident Evils unless your brain can't handle tank controls.
